I've said this before elsewhere, so I may be starting to sound like a broken record.
$600 or $800 or $1000 is a heckuva lot of money to spend on shoes that you wear only four to five times a year, if that. And I strongly disagree with that approach.
These shoes CAN be worn, and they can be used for everyday occasions. But you need to put in the time and the work to justify the $$$.
In my own case, I'm an American 8 1/2 in most of my shoes. And I'd heard that Loubies, particularly So Kates, needed to be purchased up a half-size. Well, when I tried them on in the store, they really hurt so yeah, I went up to 9, or the European equivalent, 39.
And they still hurt like h**l. But, after all that money I paid, I was determined to make them work. So I simply gritted my teeth and wore them at home every day, for at least an hour, for around six weeks, I think. And I didn't just lie around in them, or sit in a chair. I WALKED, all over the place, up and down stairs, stood in them wherever I was, and generally really pissed off my poor toes. And, wouldn't you know it? At the end of those six weeks, they no longer hurt. And I could no longer wear them. Why? They were flopping OFF my feet!
I had bought the wrong size. No, I hadn't bought too small; I had bought too BIG. I discovered that Loubies are the stretchiest high heels I've ever gotten in my life. The shoe that comes out of the box brand new is NOTHING like the shoe you get after several weeks of vigorous breaking in.
The moral of the story is that new Louboutin shoes SHOULD hurt; that's the style; they mercilessly squeeze your toes to give you that sexy cleavage effect. You want the sexy look or don't you?
So I admitted my mistake to myself, and vowed that when the time was right, I'd buy another pair true to size. And finally did, five weeks ago.
Ouch, ouch, ouch. The last five weeks have been hard. But I'm happy to say I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel; the left shoe now feels perfectly fine; the right shoe is almost done, only a little pain left sometimes in the lesser toes. I'm hoping by next week, they'll be ready for prime-time. I'm already wearing them for as much as three to four hours at a stretch, with only the occasional urge to take one of them off for a few seconds.
Most important, they are NOT flopping off my feet, and I can still walk quickly in them without worrying they'll pop off. One other interesting thing I've noticed: the toes actually don't feel that different from the 39's. I think that may mean that within half-sizes, or perhaps even whole sizes, the size of the toebox is actually not that different. We're trained to think that the larger the shoe the less the toe-squeeze and the smaller the shoe the worse the toe-squeeze. But, at least in these shoes, I don't think that's necessarily the case. If I try on my broken in 39's now, the toes actually don't feel that different from the almost-broken in 38.5's. In fact, while it would probably be risky, the fact is that I'm starting to feel a little give in the heel of the left shoe in the 38.5, which makes me think I might have even been able to work with a 38. But that's for another time, maybe in two years or so!
The bottom line: don't use these shoes just for the occasional sit-down-and-look-pretty occasions. That's a waste of all that hard-earned money. They were meant to be seen and to be used. They deserve the time and the effort to do that.

Awww so sweet. Mines ended up being true to size. But, I’ve heard about people going up and down a size as well. I think it’d be safe to maybe go up just because one foot is usually bigger than the other or really just take the SA’s advice but you can always exchange if they don’t work out.❀
