- Former Victorian Liberal Party president Michael Kroger has slammed Bill Shorten after it was revealed the NDIS Minister's speech writer gets paid $620,000 over two years.
“This is another example of where Labor can’t control their spending,” Mr Kroger told Sky News host James Macpherson.
“Even on things like this.”

My tax dollars paying for NDIS recipients to go on taxpayer funded holidays, in a housing , hospital & cost of living crisis's . The ndis was supposed to help those disadvantaged, not paid holidays on taxpayers for those that have never contributed to society other than being welfare cases .

I was personally present at the opening of a new “extended”medical facility in western Sydney. Shorten officiated & in his somewhat pompous speech stated he only wished there was a facility such as this in his home electorate (marybrnong). In response the facility director (despite significant government funding) respectfully corrected Mr Shorten, that they had in fact previously built an almost identical facility in his home electorate !!!
Shorten left abruptly afterward, clearly embarrassed that his speech writers & press secretaries had “screwed him over”.

Yes, Why indeed when they sit well below to poverty line and have done for years now and that’s people on a disability pension old age pension the carers payment should go up as well.
The pensioners in this country have been neglected and it’s the mining royalties etc that pay the pensions and such, not the tax payer and that seems to not be happening.
In fact, every Australian should be receiving royalties not only from mining but from all our resources because it belongs to all of us. Australia is a resource rich country and we all should be well off but we are not.
So, what happened?

They should have the brains and ability to write their own speeches.
They have access to their own writers, a budget for that and they are paid way less.

How come no one has held Shorten responsible for the NDIS debacle? Imagine a huge new taxpayer funded scheme and the "providers" are allowed to tender with no accreditation or reasonable oversight. This is a much greater waste than the speechwriter $$ who incidentally has been unable to wean him off the "er" and "umm"

How has it comes to this - that politicians are not only overcharging the "system" but actually "allowed" to get away with it. If they have to pay someone else that much to write speeches I would posit that people like Bill Shorten is not qualified for his job if he doesn't know what to say about his own portfolio.
