    I am a nurse in kenya and currently in school specializing into "Periopartive Nursing" I think it's exactly similar with surgical technology

      Jambo! Yes, that would be the same thing. Many countries don't make a distinction between nurses and surgical technologists.

    I live in southern California and my program was $42,000.
    I want to keep my school private but here was the breakdown.
    Financial Aid covered 2 years Year 1: $16,000 Year 2: $12,000
    Thats $28,000 I must pay back starting 6 months after graduation.
    I didn't qualify for any grants because of my current income so
    the only thing I got was this family member in medical scholarship. $4,000
    I don't have to pay back that leaves it at $32,000 with a $10K unaccounted for.
    That $10K is what I'm paying thru school over 20 months at $500 a month no interest.
    Now I am writing this because Pre-Pandemic the Pell Grant would have covered this.
    Post Pandemic its different so if you can go to school as soon as you can prices will only keep going up especially if you live in a Overpopulated Competitive Area

      That's outrageous man. My local program is like 1300-1400 a semester. You should apply for the income driven repayment plans unless your loans were private. I'm paying 0 a month right now on some previous loans and a friend of mine is paying like 50 bucks a month on 50k that he'll get forgiven through his job.

    I really like to get in the surgical tech program online, but I don’t know where to start. Is there any tips you could help me with?

    • @SurgicalCounts
      @SurgicalCounts  Před rokem +2

      The only online Surgical Technology program I'm familiar with is through MedCerts. But please know that MedCerts (and any other online ST program that may exist) are not accredited, and their student's pass-rates on the NCCT exam tend to be quite low. I strongly recommend an in-person accredited program. You can find one near you on the CAAHEP website.

    Hey so I saw in the video that surgical tech needs an associate degree? Is that true ? I’m taking this course online that I’ll be able to get a certificate and be able to apply to take the test. I really hope it’s legit . The test is thru allied health .

      @@SurgicalCountsI have the same question about a school online that only gives me a certificate instead of an A.S.
      I have not started yet because I’m unsure if it is legitimate.

    • @SurgicalCounts
      @SurgicalCounts  Před 4 měsíci

      @@kyliecakes9279 Most online programs (MedCerts, Preppy, etc.) set you up for the NCCT, or the lesser-known NCST certification. Many hospitals and some states will only accept the CST certification. For that you would need to complete a 2-year Associates degree program and take the "National Board" exam.

      Some places will say... Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program. Which can be all of the above.
