What a singer! Andy really excelled in this performance. Effortless. Wow those high notes!! What a voice!! I remember seeing this show. Happy memories. Andy - so sadly missed. A fan since 1970, I listen to your songs every day!!
An incredible display of Andy’s power, range , intonation and taste. I could not agree more. As a working pianist I can tell you most musicians as astounded by Mr W. Not a swinger but his vocal skills were unmatched. Enjoy all of the videos I have posted!
Thank you Anthony. My head was ready to explode when someone recently told my Roy Orbison is a better singer. This particular performance is mind blowing I could not agree with you more Glad you enjoy my vids of Mr Williams
Thank you for this post!! I haven’t heard this song with Andy Williams before. His version is fantastic! ”It’s only make believe” was written by Conway Twitty (and Jack Nance) and his no 1 hit.
Spectacular ! Some people get emotionally attached to the original artist. I listen to the vocal skill Andy is at his vocal peak here . Nobody had the range and intonation of this guy Glad you appreciate it
@@richardconnolly1232 I am emotionally involved but not to the original artist. In the UK the song was a big hit for Billy Fury who is my favourite artist but it doesn't mean I can't appreciate Andy's brilliance here. Andy was an exceptional singer.
Love all the versions, particularly Glen Campbell's and Conway Twitty's. Andy's is much smoother and technically perfect, but the others have assets Andy's version doesn't. Although I must say Andy really has some impressive control in that upper register.
As a busy working pianist I hear things differently than most.I love Andy’s technical skills. Fascinate me but I understand many listeners hear “ assets “ where I don’t This is what makes the world go round All good…. I respect you taste Thanks for the feedback!
@@richardconnolly1232 I like Roy Hamilton's version--completely different feel, but chills inducing. Although in general Andy has one of the smoothest, most controlled voices. I especially like how he tuned the final note to the orchestra here.
Being a musician, I always love Andy’s technical perfection. But that doesn’t explain Willie Nelson, or many other singers, who don’t have that ability, but yet have the appeal. So to each their own and just enjoy the music, no matter who is performing.
I appreciate your response. Although I’m not sure what you meant about Andy fine-tuning the last note of the song to the orchestration. The vocalist agrees to, and performs the written orchestration. The resolution of the final two measures of the song are baked into the orchestration. But it does all come together while the final notice is being held. I think that is what your noticing, although expressing it in a way that I couldn’t figure out. Anyway, I really do appreciate your comments and yes his vocal range accuracy is very special. Enjoy good music, no matter how you defined it. It is good for the soul.
@@richardconnolly1232 Well, I've noticed it with other singers like Frank Sinatra, and even Jackie Evancho when she was about 12 or 13. I'm not talking about the orchestral arrangement or anything, it's just sometimes you can hear the last note tuning to the exact frequency of the orchestra, whether the orchestra is using a tempered scale or whatever, the singer will tune into their exact frequency, even as the orchestra may go through several chords. Pavarotti once said on a talk show, when asked about other singers he admired, he liked the way that when Frank Sinatra held the last note of a song, it sounded like he was still singing after he stopped singing, I assume because he had blended his pitch and vibrato so well to match the orchestra that it sounded like he his voice continued after it stopped.

I grew up watching Williams' show. A superb singer. ALSO a fine all-around entertainer.
Best singer in the world. Current pop vocalists should study him and emulate
Thank you Anthony.

He really sang the s*** out of it - a true great
What a wonderful singer
WOW!!! Superb! What can you say about perfection?❤
NOBODY could touch Andy
I am a busy working pianist
Most of my musician friend marvel at his skills
Thank for the comment
Enjoy my posts of Andy
Impressive. Not an easy song to sing. Especially in that high key.
It's only Andy that can sing like this.
Nobody else! u real. Lol
And Roy! Would have liked to hear him do this one. Would be easy for him. Two very different singers, equally great.
Just wonderfully done like only Andy can!
He was a great singer. Well done
❤
Pretty darn'd good!!! :)
Brilliant live version.

For most people music is subjective and that’s just fine!
Appreciation of music is good for the soul
Великолепное исполнение! Спасибо, Ховард Эндрю!
Per ché è una bella melodia
Well, he ain't Conway, but he had a terrific voice, good job.
I watched this on Andy's final Andy Williams Show in 1971. The show was cancelled by Williams himself.
no autotune here kids
He didn’t need it. Incredible talent
Does anyone know where to find the full episode of this specific one? It had The Temptations, Mama Cass and Don Ho on it. Can't find it anywhere
