      Please remember, DeathCORE is a streamlined version of it's more evolved, refined and nuanced predecessor DeathMETAL. Death Metal vocals were considered more of a percussive implementation of vocals that was necessitated by complex and busy nature of death metal music. Especially as it evolved and became super complex in the late 90's with bands like Atheist, Death, Cynic and Gorguts. DeathCORE is considered by metal peers, socialites and critics to be simplified death metal for lets say's, lets developed and refined listeners. Especially youngers listeners who did not live throught this sort of evolution of the genre. One thing is for sure, you have picked up one the high use of production layering and 'tricks" as you listen to the music. This considered a 'pernicious sin" in a genre that was built on the idea of constantly evolving craft competence. Try not to give this genre too much more attention as it mostly considered undignified and childish by metal and music critics alike because of its studio production antics. I enjoy both your channels and will keep doing so! NOTE: DeathCORE bands have been chastised and ridiculed for their use backing tracks and ghostwriters - another unforgiveable transgression with the metal genre as a whole.

Scratch that, he would do that for anyone's grans, and listen truly interested, and ask them to teach him how to crotchet and have genuine fun at it, leaving the grannies feeling so happy and less lonely. There is some layering on the track, but Will also has an ability to sound, sort of layered, which makes it seem even more layered than it is. It's kind of hard to pick out when he's doing it but it's the like gargling (almost) sound. He has incredible tongue placement and knows how to use the back of his tongue in his throat to make an echo.

    • @TheNoobyFraps

    Lots of cool stuff going on with Will's vocals. There is some doubling in post, but I don't think he's using any sort of pitch shifting on the lows. Usually lows are produced by the false folds vibrating instead of the true ones, similar to clearing your throat. The false folds are responsible for subharmonics in kargyraa throat singing, oktavism, etc., so there are some similarities. The lower timbre comes from opening the vocal tract wide and placing the resonance further back (Alex Terrible has some thunderous lows because his vocal tract is humongous). The opposite is true for the highs, which place the resonance as forward as possible and have a narrower vocal tract. Will sounds like he's using "fry screams" for his highs, as well, which are when you close the vocal folds beyond the point where modal voice is produced but leave enough slack for you to push air through, creating the more distorted sound. There's a sweet spot where it's not enough to strain or cause pain, but it takes a lot of practice to find. I have years of classical training, but I've found that deathcore vocalists (this genre) are pretty much as agile and athletic with their voices as opera singers.

    • @pietandersen6120
      @pietandersen6120 Před 2 lety +2

      The highs may well (especially the ones that almost sound pitched) also come from a technique where vocalists find the break in their falsetto and push past it to get an almost pterodactyl sounding noise.

    With a few more listens though I was able to really wrap my head around everything that's happening and it is all wonderfully constructed however this is an intense amount of sound. And at a few times it seems to all wash together into a wall of sound that is nearly indecipherable. But I bet your reaction after a few more playthroughs would be a bit different.

No discredit to them, but its always fascinating to see them default to trying to predict the beats in a normal time signature, but missing entirely as the world of metal just puts everything they know on its head. It's awesome to see these musical geniuses finally start to see the solid artistic foundation metal is built on, but taken to the extreme which always keeps them on their toes.

    I know I'm late to this one. A couple of things if no one has already said. Lorna Shore, a charactor from Batman. Vocal layering for the video, yes at times I think we can all agree. He has put out another video of just him with the music mixed in at his house. You can hear the pure vocals of the song and they arel very impressive. It took Austin Archeys drumming and a number of tries to get me into this. But now that I'm in..... WOW....

    lol! That song is most definitely a wall of sound which is what the band was going for. First song with a new singer and they wanted to just blast away to show what the new band is doing.

    I'm sure someone has already pointed it out but just to be sure, Will Ramos dropped a one take vocal performance of this one. It sounds less 'muddy' because there is a lot less audio production on that recording.

    The band name is a jest to the defunct DM band Gwen Stacy (early Spidermans GF) They thought it'd be funny to name their band after Batmans (early)comic book gf Lorna Shore

    After reacting to this video, I think it'd be fun for you to react to the live performance of this song that Revolver posted of their show. It's a awesome chance to see this live, without any vocal tracks. All just Will making the sounds.

  • @Guitar4life99

    It's as simple as vocal layering, some parts have lows and highs together to add flavour to the song. No octave like effects etc. There would just be the usual suspects like delay, reverb, compression etc. as you'd normally find.
