"I'd remember walking along and somebody in the upper part of the upper decks would raise his hands and say 'I'd like a soda'", and I'm thinking, this tray is unbelievably heavy, and the lids didn't work so well in the 1960s as they do today, and I'm going to walk all the way up there for two and three quarter cents? And guess what? I walked all the way up there for two and three quarter cents."
99% are ignorant. This type of drive is not exclusive to only goldman. Talk to any young, hungry graduate who wants to make a name for themselves and this is their mentality. Don't criticize the man because you could never go to college or make something of yourself. By the way, I'm not looking for votes, my success is measured in dollars and happiness.
dollars and happiness?
Who's 99%?? The Occupy protesters? They don't represent anyone except themselves. I'm not rich nor I resent those who are lucky or those who worked hard to be rich. I enjoy listening to Lloyd because I enjoy learning about business. You shouldn't call large swathes of people "ignorant".
He's a clown and a shill.
“In dollars and happiness.” I’m virtually 100% certain Lloyd said something along these lines on his way up. It’s a mindset, enough of us already have it, we’re happy to learn you despise it.
Regardless if you like or dislike Lloyd Blankfein if you have a business such as a bank then he is the one you need to run and operate it, because one thing you cannot dispute is the fact that he is a very intelligent man and a very successful CEO.
Intelligence means, to not blow up the planet for a piece of paper, thats what intelligence means.
I'd rather have John Allison of BB&T fame.
According to Wiki, this guy's a self-made person from the Bronx, whose parents worked reception and the postal service. This is America, where anything can happen.
They wouldn't have gone bust without TARP. They were pretty solid after Buffett invested
Totally agree with you....
great video.
I like watching this video because its such a great example of how charming and charismatic sociopaths are.

Blankfein: Goldman Sachs has no moral obligation to tell clients it is betting against a product it is asking them to buy.
Hardest of all is to make people go the same path as you.
yep, exactly.
Check out the ads for BP at the bottom of the screen! Yes, key lessons he learned at the expense of You and I. Yes, you're home address please!
strange he didn't say "we run up the price of food crops on commodities markets while half the world starves"

1:30 when the interviewer asks what I did at my old job
I wish this interview wasn't chopped up and we could see the whole conversation.
Got it!
And yet he continues to make millions while you sit at your computer submitting indignant comments.
good job for goldman sachs
everyone should stop being jealous of their billions in profits
C.E.O. Chief Euthanasia Officer, He has killed more financial futures by backstabbing, cheating, lying, undermining, overvaluing and paying bribes to stay out of jail. Karma is coming Lloyd and you'll never see it coming.
Lloyd Blankfein was a great business leader in my opinion. I totally miss him as the leader of Goldman Sachs. He managed this bank well through the crisis. They are lucky to have had such a great person at their helm. For their future they have new opportunities with David Solomon as their CEO.
Agree with you, but I believe he made the smart decision of appointing David Solomon as CEO
Power
LMAO So funny !
He looks like a nice guy.
hes not
Absolutely inspirational.
the interviewer is sooooooooo scared
WHY DO PEOPLE BLAME GOLDMAN SACHS FOR TAKING FREE MONEY! Would you refuse free money, BLAME THE GOVERNMENT for being corrupt and dishing out the money.
the NY Times, always with the biting questions...
He's remarkably good at lying, you have to give him that.
omg is that the goldman guy? lol, he sounds funny
some place where integrity matter - not usa of course:)
I didn't do mba, i did masters in finance.
P.S. you don't need mba to work in finance, you need mba to run your business.
Where did you finish your high school?
@bearstearn3 LMFAO @ the comment in relation to ur username. that was clever
NYT interviews MENACE TO SOCIETY.

One day I hope to get cubical with a window adjacent view.
Actually, what this guy says in the end of the video is so true. Wisdom
damn.. shit is crazyy
very intelligent man, too bad he did not go into medicine and saved lives instead of destroying them
are you envious?
"You don't even know yourself"...very true.
this guy needs to return the taxpayer's money and he needs to go to jail post haste.
Best and smartest guy in the world.
This guy is one of the best we have...
Keep it up!
The King.
@esohe81 I agree that people are posting completely immature and unacceptable comments. However most people do not know or take the time to express themselves properly. People are upset and frustrated at this man because of all the illegal and unethical practices associated with Goldman Sachs.
@Hexenschuss007 did you see that on Inside Job?
^sane^
everyone's just jealous this ol' Lloyd here is making 30million a year + bonus/compensation
👍👍👍
@privatezib act as middlemen for businesses trying to raise money and investors willing to give it, then charging egregious fees, although this only accounts for 10% of profits, but is usually what they cite when asked. I also believe they make trades on behalf of themselves and clients, but who do you thinks comes first. Being intimately close to the financial markets which runs on information and sentiment, its no surprise that most of their bets work out (insider trading pretty much).
Leadership? He bankrupted a company. Failure should not be rewarded. Where is everyone else's bailout. God Bless America......pffft
The Lloyd Blankfien
@catalinaguerrero Have you gone mental? The guy is the highest paid executive on Wall Street, CEO of the biggest Financial Institute and making Goldman Sachs masses of money, and inevitably himself with the bonuses in which he deserves. A great If you ask me.
go lloyd blankfein!
respects from canada!
Hey Lloyd I'm sure the American people would love yto know your home address.
+1 to your whole comment.
@Ubiqanon He's providing liquidity to his clients and the market as well as managing the firm's own risk. Please do your research beforehand.
@oliverandm Im not jewish but I have to agree with your principles, we are all in the same boat after all.
His Salary is 68 million dollars per year. SO sweet he says is about team work. Do you think I buy this crap? I am also have worked in a team as well many of my friend nobody has your salary. I know you would never tell us what is behind the scene. I know who back you up Floyd
@Praemiosus So if the thief puts the money back in the till, it's still not a crime?
And I challenge your 23% number. And even then, if they paid it back so rapidly, then why did they need it in the first place?
Look up moral hazard. We are doomed without breaking this douches up.
Glass-Steagall now.
who here actually worked at goldman sacks? the financial firm has done an amazing turn around stock and profit wise. Is Blankfein really the one to attribute to the turn around or someone else?
The Mafia
whats good for goldman sachs is good for america
he is the biggest liar on the planet and should stand trial for crimes against humanity
and what is my crime
this dood happily screwed, well, everybody while shamelessly kept his fortune intact when it all crumbled and adam bryant sits there and licks his balls. hats off to you sir.
LOLZ. He would be in a poor house if not for the bailout money. People are understandably obviously upset about this swarmy little jew bragging about something he did not earn. A genuine Shylock.
Lloyd, what do you think of people who work 50 hours a week and make less than $50,000 a year?
@lorenzo8500 ... è una persona che si fa amare....
I laughed so hard when he said Goldman has a flat culture at 1:36
Hi Lloyd,
I think you might be stuck in Your context. Why don't you trade places with some of the people you screwed?
Don't get me wrong. The guy is smart, but not as smart as he would have you think because all he's doing is double talking. The words are meant to manipulate by confusing you. The vast majority of people will not be able to follow along and it's pretty obvious.
communication skills
No a victim buddy
@dalecampbl5 why u say that?
The devil.
patriot
lloyd blankfein is a patriot. this man should be awarded the nobel prize
He is obviously a very intelligent manager of people, but we are all humans, and none of us can do anything worth making 2million per week for (did he cure cancer?). Especially when that 2million/per week comes at the expense of the rest of society... way too big a slice of the pie. No one deserves that, Christ didn't make much $.
@Cilician4life ya and
Around 5:00 he mentions the role symbolism and image have in inspiring others. His appearance and especially his voice, unfortunately for him, don't project a great image. I think that's at least part of the reason he gets so much bad press, especially as compared to other big bank CEOs like Dimon.
smart guy i like this guy
A living legend!! Greatest salesman you'll ever see...
@esohe81 "people are so jealous of successful people. just look at all the comments from the wretches."
There is a BIG difference between success because of successfully creating and success because of successfully taking. Lloyd Blankfein is the latter, and his response to Goldman's "shotgun wedding" mergers, massive securities frauds, and massive political contributions to help promote his cause is usually "well, yeah, i do that... that's my job!"
Great interview from a very hardworking man.
@jskillz99 How so?
@lisaormsby Rubbish: honest people could do fair deals and keep industry and trade going far better if we didn't have to worry about guys like this ripping everyone off all the time.
haters gonna hate
This guy is the definition of a badass.
You know what i find rather strange? Anti Semitism seems to be totally acceptable in modern society however islamaphobia seems to be a terrible thing. Strange isnt it.
Anti Semitism isn't totally acceptable in society look at Mel Gibson. His career was ruined
Oligarchy
This man has more power than Obama. He and his colleagues Greenspan Summers and Rubin dictated the deregulation of financial markets.
Yes, his fault if it didn't work, My success if it did. Maybe that's the problem with America.
I think you're right. 10 Years later.
what do you all thought about India
What a man! The man is unbelievebly amazing!
people are so jealous of successful people. just look at all the comments from the wretches.
Ouch, these comments are harsh. He's just doing his job. If you don't like him, change the system by voting for genuine third parties. They may not get elected, but do you want to hop on the bandwagon, or be the one steering it? Just saying... Here come the private messages...
Blankfein is a brilliant CEO. /Goldman Sachs shareholder
Full of wise advice. Great business man, Great company.
Life is always a contract the you made with people: yes Floyd I know that. You a see customer even within members of your family. When your child was born he didn't get a birth Certificate he got a Contract to live with expiration date GREED GREED & more GREED
Eh whatever
the comments on here are all pretty dumb. This guy is one of if not the smartest businessman in America. Stop being jealous his wealth, go out and create your own. All some people do is sit and complain about the rich, its annoying.
