Why Am I Not Gaining Swing Speed?

  • We believe that all players can increase their Club Head Speed. But we also know that some of our users train with SuperSpeed Golf and don’t gain any swing speed. In this video, we dive into what we’ve learned about those who don’t gain any speed (and how we can get them back on track). A lot of the common causes have to do with outside factors. If you are struggling with gaining swing speed or looking to stay ahead of potential pitfalls in your golf training, this video is a must-watch! Please let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.

    Super speed is not a magic bullet. It is a means to an end. It is a training aid. It does not do the work for you. I have used the 3 stick system and Superspeed C for over 2 years. I am 47. I went from 107mph club head speed to the mid 120’s and 185mph ball speed during peak sessions via Trackman data. I also engage in mobility, strength, and plyo training to support my over speed training. The most important factor is rest. The mind and body need to reset and recharge. You go through good days and bad days but it is worth the grind. 💯🔥🙌☝️✌️💪

      Just bought the system and about to start training for long drive competitions at 50 years old. Starting at 136 mph. Looking forward to seeing how the program helps speed me up. And appreciate the video @superspeedgolf. Exactly what I was looking for.

      @Jason Velez, for mobility and strength training, did you work with a trainer or follow a specific program?

      I followed a number of different additional speed programs to compliment the support speed program - ex. Rypstik, Stack System, MISG, Tour Striker products, p90x, etc.

    I like the combination of speed and then strength/weight training on the same day. Yes, resting is very important. I also live in the Great White North, and I go to a simulator once to twice a week. Doing the speed and strength training on the same day will give me some flexibility for the Winter. Thanks.

    You're totally right when you are saying that some people don't stick with the training protocols, I am one of them. I purchased my sticks about 4 years ago and started the protocols about 4 times and always stop them always before protocol #2 for not good reasons. 4 years after I'm still complaining about not having proper distance out of my drives and when I look at my club head speed it's so clear why. The only issue that I would say about the speed sticks system training is that it is a great tool especially in the off season (I live in Québec) BUT with people without a garage and with normal 8-foot ceiling it is a major concern. Would be nice if a set of sticks can be developed to take this limitation into account. :-)

      Hi Luc, thanks for taking the time to comment. Being in Ontario (fortunately Southern Ontario) I understand where you are coming from with winter training and limited spaces. Commitment to training is required for any skill and for most it is the hardest part. If you have no winter option (gym, indoor driving range, friend or neighbor who has a space you can use / train with them) An option for you may be to focus your speed training at the very start of the outdoor season. If the weather breaks in early April, can you commit to 10 weeks of training 3 times per week? That will get you to the middle of June where for most players the prime part of the season is just beginning. You will have completed level 1 and 2 and will be able to transition into a maintenance of one day a week of training for the remainder of the outdoor season.
      This is just a suggestion, I can appreciate that you are limited in the winter, but as you mentioned above you are tired of not hitting it further ;) I am confident with the right motivation you will be able to find a solution to help increase your speed. Happy Training!

    My speed gains have gone up considerably by warming up and not over training. Glad I watched this video.

    • @SuperSpeedGolf
      @SuperSpeedGolf  Před rokem +1

      That is a very common thing we have seen, many players try and put too much into their week of training and it just impedes their progress. Warming up is so big, start with our suggested warm up (or one similar that you like) and even add to it to really get that body warm and primed for some fast swings! Great job!

    Hi team, I'm in week 4. I have the mens set and launch monitor. I'm confused about my results, Max Green day 1 was 113 and is now 116, but blue and red have increased more, day 1 blue 100 and red 96. Max Blue is now 110 and Red is 106. I'm not sure why green gains are minimal but the others are around 10%. I'm not lacking recovery, Tuesday and Thursday are nothing days and so generally is Sunday. Saturday is golf. Some days are slower overall, not sure why but I guess this is to be expected.

      Hey there, thanks for being a SuperSpeed user! Appreciate you taking the time to provide us some information. What we have learned is that no two player gain speed the same way. We have some that get big jumps in the lighter clubs, some with big jumps in the heavier clubs. You have made huge progress with the heavier clubs which is great to see, keep it up!
      You will certainly have "off days" that don't feel as fast regardless how recovery. Unfortunately we can't measure the recovery of our nervous system which is what get pushed the hardest in training. Many factors outside of training in our day to day life can also have an effect.
      You are gaining speed, great work and keep going!

    Wish I would have found this video earlier. I started superspeed back in December and just about finishing protocol 5. I saw massive gains for the first 2-3 protocols and then I actually started losing speed the last couple of months. I'm still well above my starting speeds but not where I was. I found the hard way that I was overtraining in the gym and not getting enough recovery. With that said I didn't have much of a choice b/c I have to lift in the early mornings so my speed training was always after and I have never been fresh doing it. This summer I'm going to reduce my load in the gym and do my maintenance SS when I'm fresh and have had more recovery time. I think my PRs are going to come back with the sticks with that adjustment. In the fall I'm going to restart the protocols and I'll have to figure out how to make it all work again. I might have to find a way to do my speed training at the gym in a open space before my lifts bc lifting after work really isnt an option for mme.

    Ryan thank you for sharing your schedule with us. However, I didn't hear any mention of golf practice. When do you squeeze time in on the range or simulator?

    • @SuperSpeedGolf
      @SuperSpeedGolf  Před 2 lety

      Hi Tony, thanks for the message. In season practice is limited to Tuesday and Sunday's before golf. I usually hit between a small and large basket before those rounds. On Saturday's when I am done teaching lessons I may sneak in a short session, but in the summer not much practice. Maybe one weeknight every other week I sneak out for some practice. In the winter months Those Tuesday afternoon and Sunday mornings are days I will work on my swing indoors.

    Great video!!! I have completed 5 weeks of Phase 2 starting Phase 2 Maintenance and have noticed that my step drill and left heel lift numbers tend to be lower than in my normal stance. Can you shed some light on the lower body power leaks that may be causing this? Thank you.

    Last year i picked up a total of 12mph club head speed from super speed sticks. This year i decided to continue to get even faster but i discovered that my speed started plateauing and it is so difficult to gain even more speed. Do you have any advice for this?

    • @SuperSpeedGolf
      @SuperSpeedGolf  Před 9 měsíci

      Hey there, we are happy to hear you are picking up training again! Gaining 12mph is incredible! Plateaus happen with all players. If you took a long period off of no training it can take some time to bust through that plateau. Our advice is to continue training with maximum intent! You know the system works based on your awesome gains, if you follow the system, you will gain more speed.

    You either naturally have speed or you don’t, there’s only 5 mph to be gained for most people. I’m a plus 2-3 handicap , hit it 260-270, my boys are all worried about bombing it, they’ll never scare breaking 80. There’s a reason hardly anyone can break 80, and it’s not swing speed. It’s fun to watch though!
