@kaseyWtrumpet From Steve Wiest: Hey folks, thanks for all of the kind (and colorful:) comments. I had a blast writing this piece, and I'm so glad you dig it! I based this on what I consider to be the "Golden Era" of TV cop show themes: 1960-1980. Plus, at the end I added some modern grandiose cinematic textures ala Hans Zimmer for good measure! How 'bout that Scott Kruser? WOW! And Dan Foster on lead trumpet? MAN! and the bass bones? Double pedal Dbs...just sayin'

That guitar player is amazing... Whenever I listen to this stunning chart, I always get shivers down my spine at 2:10 when it enters the crazy guitar solo... This whole tune, this whole band.. they definitely deserve a grammy!

"Steve Wiest, composer, trombone!!!" Sorry, Steve...couldn't resist :-)
When I asked you in the summer of '83 whether or not you'd yet encountered Scott Whitfield, little did I know you'd be One O'Clock section mates within a couple of years....and yes, I think the pedal D-flats may have destroyed my Koss KSC75s.....but as a fellow trombonist, I forgive you, and the Lab 2011 4th and 5th bones....hehehe. Keep entertaining the hell out of all of us!

If you've read any of the comments, you've probably seen the timestamp 6:47 a little bit. . . .if you're wondering what could that be? --- just prepare yourself to feel ready to save the world

6:47 My jaw dropped. I've got some good headphones and that was incredible. Super intimidating bass trombone sound. Loved the writing there too, I thought it hinted at James Bond.

I felt the same way. On a good set of cans, those bass bones have a stupid amount of presence from 6:47 on. It is a seriously epic part of the song. A great nod to Hans Zimmer with a little 007/secret agent(ish) flare thrown in. Very very cool. Great composition!

@Gmoddude86: Thanks man! You have nailed my influences perfectly on this piece, especially in that spot. Hans Zimmer is my BOY! I love his writing, and especially his work on "Inception". Phil Bulla (our recording Guru) and I had to "A and B" my piece and "The Dream is Collapsing" by Hans many times until we got the sound we wanted. Epic indeed! Sean Casey and Jon Gauer are the great bass trombonists here. I am spoiled indeed :)

I like how the guitar players' bald pate turns different colors during his solo - at one point nearly approximating the lovely hue of his candy apple red instrument. Where there's smoke, there's fire.
