  • Ok - now we're ready to roll.
    Changed oil and filter, added some royal purple to the front hubs, greased steering and suspension zircs. Runs good and sounds good. Time for a state inspection this coming week so I can get a real license plate.

    Great video. Not looking forward to my less than 70K miles 2001 DT466E first engine problem. Change the filters regularly. Getting ready to do Oil Fuel, coolant and transmission filter. Probably doesn't need it but I couldn't hurt.

    I’m about to by same motor and trying to get a service manual or something to figure this all out

    I just purchased one and I can’t find much online for it

      The parts sellers don't seem to want to tell you what you can substitute for some parts. I watched over 200 hours of DT466 content when I got this truck since it's my first International. Comparing to the other diesels I've had (mostly small engines like 6.0's), it's my favorite so far but a close race against my 3116 Cat.

    I have a 97 where do you add power steering fluid and do you need to bleed the lines??

      I'm a big fan of Lucas Power Steering fluid. Lucas even fixed a small leak in my 4300 shuttlebus. Follow the lines from your power steering pump to the power steering reservoir. Fill it to the fill line indicated. If it's run dry or you're replacing the pump, you'll need to bleed it so the fluid doesn't foam up when in use. I've never had to bleed one but if I do, plenty of youtube vids on it.

    Great video, I have one of those trucks I just bought. Mine will crank but will not fire. I just noticed mine does not make that humming sound when the key is on. Any ideas?

      That annoying humming sound is the brake booster. This one has juice brakes (hydraulic). If you have air brakes, you won't hear a brake booster. No clicks or whirrs from the ECM nor from the IDM when the key is on either. Starting from scratch, check the easy/cheap stuff first. Replace the CPS, check IPR, check fuel pressure, check injector rail pressure. Those seem to be the big failure points on these DT466 engines.

      @@cic-jakevanddalgeemyers.2739 - ;-p No glow plugs on these DT466's.

    Don't use fuel filters with dents. They may send bad crap down stream to the injectors.

    Do you hv to change the wiring harness when you change the ICP sensor

    • @ridercrossing3789
      @ridercrossing3789  Před 6 měsíci

      Not unless you think the connector is bad. If it's loose or oily, definitely replace it. If there's any doubt on the wiring, run a multimeter to measure resistance. You can find the expected ohm resistance values online so you'll know if the sensor is bad or if it's the wiring. You can also test the icp sensor by unplugging it and starting the truck. When it's unplugged, you'll get the default fuel pressure (so it'll run but rough).

      @@ridercrossing3789 thank you, we've changed both ICP sensor and the pressure valve sensor but it still throws the same ICP code. Could it be the ECM or maybe the fuel pump

    did u have a video how to change the injection pump

    • @ridercrossing3789
      @ridercrossing3789  Před 6 měsíci

      I don't but it's easy even without watching youtube vids. Make sure you torque everything correctly though - worst thing is to pop a stud out. Parts seem to be getting more expensive for these trucks this year. ;-/
