Cosmo Sheldroke The moss
Well, legend has it that the moss grows on the north side of the trees
Well, legend has it that when the rain comes down, all the worms come up to breathe
Well, legend has it that when the sunbeams come, all the plants they eat them with
their leaves
Well, legend has it that the world spins round on an axis of twenty-three degrees.
But have you heard the story of the rabbit in the moon
Or the cow that hopped the planets, while straddling a spoon
Or she, who leapt up mountains, while whistling up a tune
And swapped her songs with swallows, while riding on a broom.
Well we can all learn things both many and a-few
From that old hunched woman who lived inside a shoe
Or the girl that sang all day and by night she ate tear soup
Or, the man who drank too much and got the brewers' droop.
Come listen up all ye fair maids to how the moral goes
Nobody knew and nobody knows
How the pobble was robbed of his twice five toes
Or how the dong came to own a luminous nose
Or how the jumblies went to sea in a sieve that they rowed
And came to shore by the chankly bore, where the bong trees grow
Where the jabberwocky's small green tentacles do flow
And the quanglewangle plays, in the rain and the snow.

I hope my english teacher wont find out about this song because i really dont wanna write a 10 pages essay about the hidden meanings behind the lyrics lmao
Teacher: To late start writing
You: NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I just recommended this song to my English teacher oh no
the lyrics are actually based off of poems which are fairytales so she literally cant tell you to make sense of the words without looking like a fool cause they're all made up
the secert meeaning is that can lrean alot from real things and facts but we can also lrean alot from fiction and folk lore as well
Im sending it to her right now
This song radiates cryptid energy and I am here for it
I'm goblincore, and honestly, this song makes me so happy and I listen to it when I go searching for things to add to my collection.
I feels like it activates my supernatural fascination and sentiments and fantasies
@@user-ud1ec6tg1z what’s goblincore? I’m kinda curious, I’ve heard of cottagecore but not goblincore.
@@ntlm_9049 Goblincore is an aesthetic which is a twist on Dragoncore. Goblincore celebrates aspects of nature that most would find "ugly" or dirty, ranging from animals such as frogs and snails to materials such as moss, mud, plants, and fungi such as mushrooms.
@@user-ud1ec6tg1z that actually sounds really pretty, mushrooms are cute
This song makes me think of the line between reality and fairytale
fun fact the quick part that's like "how the pebble was robbed" to "and the quangle wangle plays in the rain and the snow" is based off of poems you can read that are basically fairytales
thats a very thin that i want to jump.
You just summarised the meaning of the entire song
@@jamessterner2814 all the versus are full of fairytales and nursery rhymes

This song is kinda addicting, it's so oddly relaxing and interesting. It has a nice melody.
True
Oh wow, I have the most likes out of all comments down here 0_0
I know, right?
Its cause Cosmo is a ancient Siren who is posing as a simple folk singer....
@Samuel Weland if you own a pc just right click on the video some options appear one is to put the song on loop
I just googled brewers droop, and it turns out that it is erectile dysfunction caused by excessive consumption of alcohol
He got dick no work no more disease
Well yeah he says, he drank too much and got the brewers droop
I thought it had to do with something with your face
Pretty much beer=no boner

Song meaning summarised:
The singer talks about science and fantasy by mentioning well-proven scientific facts and old, children's fairy tales and nursery rhymes. He then mentions that these fairy tales have somewhat scientific morals and that these morals can help people but are forgot as people age
what were all the fairytales were mentioned? the way some of these are worded kinda confuse me
the cow that hopped planets was the whistling cow, the jabberwocky was from Alice in wonderland, and the woman who lived inside a show is the one where there wa an old woman who lived inside a shoe with 34 children and idk bout the others
@@clacks5605 ok thanks.. tho i haven’t heard of the whistling cow before
@@clacks5605 Also the rabbit in the moon is from Chinese folklore!
@@cedartheyeah.justyeah.3967 oh yeah I forgot to mention that! I’m aussie and an aboriginal group near where I live also has a Dreamtime legend of the rabbit in the moon, tho this song probably references Chinese culture, not the example I know
A friend of mine sent this to me and said "This reminds me of you". This is now one of my favorite songs.
Yeah it has like a cryptic aesthetic to it
@@cherrybomb1130 and goblincore a bit for some reason

This is really sweet, I actually almost shed a tear :_)
When i hear this song, I think of many things. But what it really reminds me of old legends, old heroes, long long since passed their prime. Long forgotten. But there's one person who tells their tale. This person was one of the heroes and tells the real tale, including the death and flaws of their friends. But they know that the stories taught important lessons so they tell it anyway.
Yo, I know this was made a while ago, but your comment is really interesting and I like the feel of it. If you havent before, you should read the Kingkiller Chronicles, as they have a similar plot
The singer feels like a deity that passes down stories and folklore
this sounds like it would be something a bard would sing in a tavern. you cannot change my mind.
Eliza will tell their story

Does any know any more songs that are this magical? I’m writing a story and need some musical inspiration
Sorry but if the story is gonna be bittersweet-ish you can listen to The Deli- 5:32(or something i dont remember it) or Petit Biscuit-Sunset Lover. Hope this helps!
Edit: if the story will be alot more happier you can also listen to Soldier, Poet, King. Its awsome.

My sister recommended me this song, I’ve never had such a huge flash back to reading ffs as a kids in my life till now.

I love this song but as strange as it sounds I think it has a deeper meaning To look at all the forgotten things to the underdogs and the lost everything and everyone has a story to which we can learn from ... if you look
Mhm everyone carries a lesson or more even if they don't realize it
This need more attention
Drizzle Cake true
I love this song, it reminds me of Alice In Wonderland. 😊
It seems to be inspired by the quirkiness of Wonderland and even references it at 1:24
I can imagine slowly smoking your way into oblivion while listening to this, tears of some unnamed emotion streaming down your face as a small, wane smile slowly makes an appearance. This is such a good song.
💨🍃 + this song at 0.75 speed = a whole different fuck!ng universe
10/9 for that scene

This has just made me think of a character in like a western fantasy setting who in which people know all the classic fairy tales. Then there is one person who also knows about science through legends and stories, however believes that within the fairy tales there is another hidden tale, within the why and the how, and they just search and search
I've been listening to this a lot lately, I honestly think it's an amazing song and I would show it to people
The song starts starts with facts ,things we know , the throwing yourself into facts and knowing them for comfort and ignoring the mysterious ,potentially fictitious and twisted , something I did as I grew up .Only to slowly end up driving us mad with boredom and turning to the weird and wonderful stories and thoughts when surrounded by nature as well as the strange and upsetting. And being enveloped within it all .
Love this song ,can't believe I've only just found it again after ages.
when turn this song on and started sing my cat started trowing up
witchery!
IM A WIZARD
but.....my cat....not so much of a wizard huh......
(shes okay i think)
This Song is Literally a Fairy Tale. It's SO Amazing and Addicting...
this song reminds me of when you finally stop believing but when someone confirms it you try as hard as you can to unhear and hold on to the child in you but alas its too late
This song makes me think back to ancient times of old stories and legends.
For some reason I also think about this short story by Emily Roda , Opal the Dreamer. She wrote Deltora Quest. I'm not sure if anyone will understand 😅
Now that I think of it, this song really radiates Deltora Quest vibes. Those were some good books
OH MY GOD DELTORA QUEST
HELL YEAH DELTORA QUEST
Holy shit Deltora Quest sounds so familiar-
Can someone explain a little of the plot so I know if I'm being stupid or not?-

This song makes me think of all the old fairy tales we are told as kids. Like the the cat and the fiddle or the cow that jumped over the moon
I think they’re all stories. Like the jabberwocky and the women who lived in a shoe are both poems.
@@bgarcia6944 Yeah. Cause the Jabberwocky is from the world of Alice in Wonderland

this song is wholesome besides the brewers droop part lol
What's brewer's droop
@@sky-fu7sq Well, to put it simply, to much alcohol=no boner... if that makes sense.
There was also tear soup, which implies either mourning or cannibalism

I listen to this song every time I draw, because it gives me inspiration. This song is split into 2 categories, reality and fairy tale which gives me more ideas for a whole new story. This song has so much meaning that I can't find out, it's so wonderful.
I listen to this 24/7
why do I feel this song on a spiritual level
I’m to addicted to this beautiful song (this is inspirational for me cuz I need to write a story T.T) 🤣🤣😂
Same bruh this song almost fully inspired my most recent story
I vibe with this song but it has the same beat as the loca the pug song and I can't take it seriously
Not even lol
Shit now it cannot be unseen. Damn you 😂
I remember the first time I heard this song was from my old ex girlfriend who send it to me because it reminded her of me... every call I always spoke stories about mythological tales from Norse to Egyptian and she always found it interesting. It’s been a month since the break up I believe. We are still friends but I can feel our relationship fade away as time goes by... Kris if you see this, you have been a hell of a person to hangout with. From a “bean” to another, you are great
Sorry I saw this late! Thanks for the effort on this it’s great! 👍
This song reminds me of just sitting in the forest while just breathing and taking in the sounds smells and sights of our world
I was surprised when he started referencing poems cuz my dork ass is just like: yo i have that poetry book, I've read those poems.
i can kinda imagine this song being about a time traveller telling stuff from this time to people in old times since some of those are just real life things worded out in a funkier way, which later become legends
"rabbit in the moon" is just a part of the moon which has those grey marks that forms the shape of a bunny
nd there's also some fairy tales and nursery rhymes
Good to listen to while skating-
At first I didn’t like it, then I heard it again, and and again... and well, here I am.
Put the speed at 0.75... trust me
Ben OB thank you so much
It actually sounds good in this speed
.25 speed is wack
so I tried this and the weird thing is that while the lyrics themselves sound fine the background music sound rather strange as if it were cutting out every now and then and you played static over it.

1:24 idk its just my favorite part
This is the most interesting comment section that I have seen
I love this song so much, it sounds so mysterious and whimsical, and at the same time there's this underlying sadness to the melody, like calling back memories of adventures long since passed
My friend and I went exploring and found a creepy forest. We were looking for songs that reminded us of it because we want to write short stories about the place. This is it.
This song embodies the sentiment of "One day you'll be old enough to enjoy fairytales again."
Walking into a tavern in Skyrim when the Bard is about to lay some sick beats.
It kinda sounds like people telling stories of the past in a post apocalyptic world where things like moss and rain aren’t common in most places.
this song contains a lot of references to poems such as the Jabberwocky and The Jumblies and I honestly love it
This is my comfort song
It played quiet on repeat for a half hour from my best friends playlist during our first kiss and drive during our first date , we were friends for 8 years before that and it was the first step into a relationship.
Ligit love just playing it on repeat a few times once in a while to relax.
I had a book of old fairytales and nursery rhymes when I was younger, and a lot of them were more obscure so hearing about some of them in this song was really nice. Or at least, I thought they were obscure because nobody else knew them in my class. Might be a generation thing.
This song is gorgeous. It’s cryptic, mysterious, and leaves you wanting more. It’s adventurous, in a way, like it could be the theme song for a show like The Owl House.
I cant stop listening to this song
This sounds like anthem for corvidcore
damn right is
covidcore
i knew it'd become an aethsetic-
I read this as covidcore and I lost hope in humanity BUT NO ITS CORVIDCORE
Makes me want to write a fantasy story about a young one learning about life from an elder who had explored the world before dying. They listened to their ghost, if that wasn’t clear.
Yes I’m about to write an essay about this. And it’s gonna be fun damnit
This song is oddly calming yet creepy, and I love it. It’s like your on the edge between a fairytale and reality and it’s such an addicting song
This makes me think that reality is just a fantasy and we’re just apart of a fairytale and there’s actually another world out there that’s very different and we’re just stories to them and that world is just a legend to another world that Is different and so on, I’m starting to think that we’re all just made up and that we have different stories to tell to others, I love it.
This song is just a whole Nother Vibe and World that I can't Describe. Its just Different from the Rest of them
I want someone to make a shifting sub with this song cuz it reminds me of like a calm fairytale land

I'm actually making a story based on this song and im very proud of how it's going
I just realized each line in this song has a different meaning if the song is a colab of a varying number of poems I'ma try to find at least one or two of the poems used
This melody is charming!

A couple days ago, my friend told me to listen to this whole song because it "fits my vibe."
I feel appreciated.
I didn't know that this was that one song- it's amazing. Thanks, Kai
I come back to this song and it just reminds me of freedom, of traveling the world by foot with what little belongings you have, strapped to your back. Meeting people with different backgrounds and seeing things you never would have seen and LIVING. Life is an adventure and we go where it takes us, we blow in the wind, and seeing where we end up.
This kinda reminds me of cryptidcore
This song always reminds me of my time in science camp, walking through the woods, catching insects, eating at the mess hall swimming and fishing in the lake ,really miss that place.
Lovely
I listened to this song while reading tpn manga now all I can think of is Yuugo
THE SONGS ARE LITTLERY SO GOOD
I love hot this song basically questions: Some tales we take as fact, while others we take as fiction, but where exactly do we make that distinction? Who's to say one of those fairytales isn't true?
This song reminds me of The Man in the Moon by Luke Spychalla, which is probably why it gives me such a strong feeling of nostalgia since one of my first memories is being read that book
This is oddly calming. I don't know, it just is.
This song is the definition of Goblincore
true
This gives off Alice in Wonderland vibes, and I'm here for it
This is underrated
Ah yes. We all love Cryptid sea shantys. 👌
this song is eerily nostalgic.

Why hello there fellow veterans; gonna share how i feel about of this song//don’t ask me if i consider this an essay with lots of mistakes; fairy tales, reality, scientific facts, all merged up on this song. As we grow older, we forget them. Morals we see today and future, isn’t always true; and so nobody knows or knew. Old legends, burns up their soul just to fly away with angels and perhaps with the god, leaving numerous piece of facts; Earth’s axis(btw idk what’s axis, i assume it’s the earth’s spinning surface), mosses and rains, sunbeams and more. This song is oddly calming but with all the nostalgia on a forgotten and still-remembered fairy tales flows through my ears, and it’s really satisfying and addicting 🌳
Yeah I took off granted that ik those facts and I forgot but now I feel a bit happier I remember it's not often forgetting is good even if the memory is painful you still learn a lesson from it
