    • @SteveWhiteDallas
      @SteveWhiteDallas Před rokem

      You don't think it would be even safer to use the saw as it was intended, thereby eliminating the cuts with the boards not up against the fence? Those are not safe cuts. If for any reason the blade failed to cut the wood, those clamps would fail. They can't match the power of the motor. the wood would move, possibly being thrown across the shop, and/or the cutting head would surge in the direction of the operator. Safely cutting angles is the whole purpose of the turning cutter head and table.

    That’s a great idea for building fiberglass rectangular tubes. There was once a product called “duct board” which was fiberglass ductwork & some of the fabricating tools were quite expensive for working with it. Also, the duct board had lots of loose fibers that would get into the air streams of buildings & homes because it wasn’t lined with any sort of a coating. The fiberglass panels would do the same thing, have way better insulating qualities too!

      How about learning from someone who actually knows how to use one! Not this guy. The saw is designed to rotate for accurate angle (miter) cuts, but instead of using it that way, he wastes all kinds of time measuring to cut simple, 45° angles! Wtf. On top of that, I found myself cringing at the untidy worksite, not because it looks horrible (even tho it does), but because it’s the kind of work site someone eventually gets hurt on. Loose boards lying around to trip over, never mind the potential that some of those have embedded nails sticking out that someone is gonna step on and end up with a nasty hole in his/ her foot. I know, I’ve been in the construction business for 40 years and recognize this half- arsed behavior for what it is- either complete ignorance, or willful stupidity that results in injury or even worse, depending on how badly it gets out of control. Do yourself a favor and find a different channel to “learn” from, if that’s your goal.

      You can say that again. Most of them are garbage.

      And, did you watch the mystery build? Just wondering

    • @chrisgriffith1573

      @@RikHendriksDutchCo Nope. I can buy a matte cutter for less than what an hour of my time costs, so this build is never going to be worth doing.

    Pure genius! But of course the insulation material should have those rabates factory-made already. But it’s a very clever tool when the factory didn’t make it (cost reduction?)

    Действительно гениально просто. Непривычно только, что звук карандаша громче звука циркулярки. Тогда уж вымолвил хоть словечко!

    cool idea. do you think it would be easier to use if you oriented the blades so that it would cut on the pull-stroke instead of push?

    • @minbari001
      @minbari001 Před 2 lety

      Cutting on the Pull would probably result in a Malformed edge, (not to mention the Obvious Safety concern of cutting towards yourself with tool holding open Blades ) whereas cutting on the Push introduces a Mechanical Advantage the ensures the tool remains tight against the Material resulting in a Truer finished Edge,

  • @richardhatt6541
    @richardhatt6541 Před 2 lety +6

    You can adjust your blade angle with your saw to make the angle cuts. No need to block and clamp other boards.

    I watch many videos of methods and jigs for jobs I'll never take on. They are ususally fascinating - the ingenuity and skills shown keep me entertained for hours. This one was just the same, brilliant. Just one question - why risk losing bits of flesh by using a knife blade as a glue spreader?
