My Most Favorite Game LOL
Chomper is actually a pretty decent plant in pvz1, just not in the way it was intended. This is because of its 5 second recharge. This fact essentially turns it into the pvz1 equivalent of magnifying grass, being a high-cost but low-recharge instant plant. If you have a lot of sunflowers on the field, chompers can easily take on entire levels on their own.
Not that it would have been usefull for this particular challenge considering the high maintenance for this strategy, but it could be very handy in the future.
isn't it more like that one plant from pvz2 that acts as a peashooter bit turns into an instant if a zombie is near?

@@PihsrosnecYeah, it is more like that one plant. I didn't choose guacodile because it's a pretty forgettable plant. Case in point: you yourself forgot it's name. Magnifying grass is a much more well known example of converting sun directly into damage, hence why I chose it for comparison.

Whack a zombie would be really easy on mobile, as you can "whack" multiple places at almost the same time.
Just spam your screen with 8-10 fingers like a todler and the zombies die incredibly fast
NGL when he mentioned his keyboard I thought that he was gonna rebind a couple of keys to be mouse clicks and mash them to get stupid click speeds.

Chomper is actually a good plant, the whole point is that he is essentially a permanent instant. Instants don't make him "invalid" because he is a different type of gimmick instant himself. It's easy enough to get rows of Chomper going and he synergises better with wall plants than almost any other plant in the game, as well as spikeweed. I doubt he was any fun to use in this challenge, but Chomper is in no way bad in any of the ways you mentioned.

Cherry bomb actually would've been useful for the wack-a-zombie, since it's 5x speed it'll explode instantly, therefore you have an instant 3x3 click essentially.
I think that it would've been too time consuming to select the seed packet.

I was impressed by the bushes on the right. When the zombies came, it was hard to guess which row they were in
In 5-10, you can plant on other lanes too even if the Zombot's AI doesn't send out zombies on those lanes that were cleared by lawn mowers. It could have made the run a bit shorter than your playthrough, but I like to see different strategies.

That's crazy, I experimented with playing Plants vs Zombies on five times speed a while ago and revisited it again a few days ago and now I'm finding out there's already a video on it. At first it kind of made me disappointed but it feels kind of validating to know that I'm attempting a real challenge that someone has already established. I've been cheating a little though cuz I'm using an auto clicker for my sanity but regardless of how legit it is it's still a fun challenge.

Also, the zombies not spawning in a lane is tied entirely to a zombie triggering the mower and not how many plants or otherwise exist in a row. You can fill the other lanes with catapults for more damage each zomboss cycle.
One problem with this is that eventually Zombot will destroy all lawnmowers, after which the game seems to switch to looking how many plants are in a lane. If I planted a lot of catapults on all mowerless lanes, and then Zombot destroyed the lawnmower with an ice/fireball, he would start spawning zombies on all other lanes again, which would most likely kill me.

Oh my goodness I haven't remembered that flash game in a while now. Earth Taken was a game I had forgotten for a long time until I saw this video. Thank you for helping me remember this classic flash game. Even though this game has nothing to do with pvz.
while i love the ingenuity of taping mice together, theres a little strategy called 'double click butterfly' where you use two fingers on one of the mouse's buttons and alternate clicks between the two fingers.
if you have a mouse that has an adjustable / non existent debounce time, you can achieve clicking speeds up to 25-30 clicks per second.
...or youre like me and dont double click while butterfly clicking, while achieving 16-19 clicks per second
these methods are largely used by the minecraft PVP community, where before 1.9, how fast you clicked really mattered.
thought this might be helpful for anyone else crazy enough to try this challenge.
and if youre even crazier youll find clicking methods such as drag, bawl, and bolt clicking, achieving clicks per second up to 180.
All of these ideas are very cool, but the only problem is that it's hard to move your mouse around while butterfly clicking (you could technically use a different mouse for that) while also actually focussing on the zombies on screen. I think cps are only a part of the equasion, reaction time is also a big part (especially for dashers). Also, I personally just really liked the idea of The Wackinator, it added a bit of wackyness to the video. I still have it in my room somewhere as a momento.
@@magicjinn it's absolutely better content, but as for the butterfly clicking, its honestly just like anything else- its hard at first but once you practice for a bit you can track and click just as well as if you were normal clicking.

It's how I beat big wave beach in PVZ2 so easily. Doesn't matter how fast how fast you send zombies out if your in 5 spots at once.

The way the guy screams at the end kills me every time
[2-5] I've got lowest of 7.2 CpS when strained, 8.2 CpS at best legitimate and 9.8 CpS by scratching the mouse button against the finger bend (which exhausts the entire arm, but is more effective).
Taking in account how in the game you have to actually move the mouse around as you react, and that not only will it strain but you have to keep up for extended period, this is kinda hell to play.

It's a Greybusters Pink Keyboard (you'll probably find it if you search this online). I don't think they're produced anymore, I found mine at a thrift store for a dollar.

did u try butterflying on ur other hand and aiming with ur dominant hand? I think that'll work best
Hadn't tried that, but I did use my dominant hand for aiming, with the Whackinator (yes that's what I call it) in my other hand.
it's far past the time to give you advice but you could have blocked the underlight of the second mouse to aim with just your dominant hand while you went ham on the other mouse

13:24 not tryna say chomper is better than suqash or potato but its not bad in speedruns since its an insta with super fast recharge. The sun cost doesnt matter because ppl plant 10 billion sunflowers in speedruns

2-5 would be a lot easier on console with this mod since you can select a plant without moving the cursor and sun is collected simply when it touches the cursor
True, although how would the movement of your cursor affect the level? Reaction speed is a big factor.
@@magicjinn you would effectively be able to access sun and plants at all times while keeping your cursor near the zombies. A Plant is always selected and which plant can be changed with bumpers. Planting a Cherry Bomb instead of using the mallet is just a matter of pressing a different button. In addition, the mallet button is ONLY the mallet button, incapable of being misregistered as planting a plant or collecting sun. Also, a second controller can be connected allowing a second player with a second mallet to wack zombies.
