A great video! - loaded with really useful information. Thankyou.
Thank you for watching, I’m so glad you found the video useful 😊
Thank you for all the work you put into making your sewing videos! The information you present is excellent and so well organized. I love the pictures of you wearing your makes and the wide variety of fabrics you use. I always learn something useful from your videos, and I have been sewing clothes since I was in high school in the late 1950s when the girls all learned to sew in school. I so admire today’s young women teaching themselves to sew.
Thank you for watching! I’m so glad you find my videos informative, I try to include as much detail as I can so it’s lovely to have your feedback 😊🌸
You have wonderful taste and talent! I really enjoyed watching this video. Inspirational!

Not only do I love these pattern recommendations, I love your fabric choices!!! Especially the fox print!!!

I love all of your top 5 series videos and I love seeing all of your versions! It's amazing how much different fabric changes the final look. I would love to hear about other top patterns that you have managed to make with a metre of fabric- (some of my favorite fabric stores only sell full metres and I would rather have 2 tops in different fabrics as I like to layer with cardigans anyway).cheers!
Thank you for watching! Ok cool thanks I’ll give that some thought 😊👍
Thank you. I've been trying to fund some woven top patterns so this has helped heaps. 😀
Thanks for watching, I’m so glad you found helpful 😊
Dear Cath, I would love watching you sew your 5 favorite woven tops and blouses. Do you have any videos showing how you sew these patterns?
Thank you for watching. I haven’t done any sewalongs yet but I’d like to in future 😊
Wow, your Kalle dress hack with the gathered skirt looks amazing! 😍 Thanks for another great video.
Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Awesome video!!🥰
Thank you very much! 😊♥️
Another really interesting and informative top 5 video. I enjoy seeing the photos of them on you , particularly in a different range of fabrics. Like others here have commented, it does make me reconsider patterns, which I have previously dismissed. Keep them coming! Thank you- Shirley C
That’s very nice of you to say. I really like her format. Love seeing the types of fabrics she uses. For someone without a cent of creativity, I have sewn more since watching Cath because I’ve gotten fabric and pattern ideas from her show. Love her.
Thanks so much for watching. I really enjoy reusing patterns and trying them out in different fabrics, I’m so glad you find it useful 😊
Thanks very much Marisol 😊💕
Hi Cath. I really enjoyed your round up of patterns. I happen to have all those patterns but haven’t made them all yet! I really like the Sagebrush top which I have made in an Atelier Brunette dobby fabric. I can’t wait to wear it. I particularly liked your double gauze version and I’m never quite sure what to make from double gauze so I will give that a try. I have some Nani Iro double gauze which would work really well. Diana
Hi Diana thank you for watching 😊 a Sagebrush top in Atelier Brunette don’t sounds lovely! I love the Nani Iro double gauzes too, hope you enjoy sewing yours
Thanks for another great video, Cath! The info you give on patterns & fabric sources is really useful 👍 Glad you’re gaining some commissions from all your efforts 🤗
Thanks so much for watching, I’m so glad you find the pattern & fabric source info useful 😊🤗
I think Closet Core has expanded their size range to size 30! I have had the Kalle for a while I just need to make one!
Thank you, that’s great to know! Hope you enjoy the Kalle when you do sew it!
I really love the prints you find and use for the tops, so fun!
Thank you very much!
Thank you Cath, I enjoy your videos so much, they are packed full of very helpful information and the pictures of you wearing the finished garment is perfect. You are so talented, and your fabric choices are beautiful. I find that one of the hardest parts about sewing is choosing the right fabric to go with the pattern and your input and experience is so helpful, thank you!
Thank you so much, I’m so glad you find my videos helpful 😊🌸
I love your pattern selections. Every top looked great on you.
Thank you very much 😊
Lovely makes
Thank you very much 😊
Really enjoyed this video, I have the fabric and pattern for the Avid seamstress, and can't wait to make it up. I also have the scout tee, that I've never made! I'm wondering if I might be able to squeeze both out now, such a good idea!
I have the sudley pattern that I got from G and G, but never made it up as I am now put off the big flowy dresses a bit, so I may just try the blouse, such a good idea.
I, like you, am put off by big puffy sleeves, but the Friday pattern you have is just lovely. I may just have to try that one too, I think my girls would love it too. Thanks so much for sharing x
Thank you very much Angela. I'll look forward to seeing your Avid Seamstress blouse! Yes the scout tee is a great scrapbuster, so good to be able to get two tops out of a pretty fabric! I hope you enjoy the sagebrush top if you do decide to try it, it's definitely a nice sew, and I think a pretty top to go with a pair of jeans or a pinafore, I'm looking forward to wearing mine more when the weather warms up a bit! xx
Thank you so much Cath for such a thorough and detailed review of not only the patterns but also showing each version in different fabrics as well as pictures of you wearing them. What a delight! Such useful information throughout. I shall be checking out your other videos now!
I’m really glad you found the vlog useful, thank you so much for watching !
Great to hear about your favourite woven patterns 💖😊. I always enjoy hearing recommendations for future sewing choices xx
Thank you very much Becky 😊💕xx
My goodness..another fabulous video. Love ALL your makes, especially the kitty top..all I can say is WOW. As I’ve previously mentioned I am a cat lover, so when I saw the kitty top my mouth fell open..just beautiful. You are so talented. Do you sew every day, all day😁. My own opinion, but I really think your channel is the best of all. I love your format. The way you mention the sizing, the description, showing your makes, etc. by providing all the information it gives me a good idea whether it would be a good pattern for me. I’m a fan of yours for life😌
Thanks so much Marisol that’s so lovely of you to say 🥰 I really enjoy sharing all the information I can so I’m so glad you enjoy it. Thank you for watching 😊 xx ps I have a soft spot for that kitty top. It took me a while to cut into that fabric as I didn’t want to mess it up 😻
Thank you for sharing! I enjoy your no nonsense presentations. I mean that as a compliment :)
Thank you very much 😊
Been looking to add to my woven top patterns and you just made my life easier. Thank you!
Oh brilliant, I'm so glad you found it useful, thanks for watching!
Thanks Cath I’m not really a sewer, this is making me think I could have a go. Your tops look lovely, and they all suit you. 😉
Thank you very much! I’m glad it’s inspired you 😊
Thanks for your pattern ideas. I particularly like the shirt with the key hole neckline. And also the dropped sleeve top with bias plaquet. It gives me all sorts of idea for my pattern drafting.
Thank you for watching, I’m so glad it gave you some ideas 😊
You do a wonderful job on your garments! I enjoy watching your vlogs. You do so many varieties and love them!!
Thank you very much! 😊
All your makes are gorgeous Cath! Great to see your favourites 😊
Thanks Ruan! 😊
Wow, Cath! I'm saving this video for tons of future reference!!! Thank you so much! Your tops look great.
Thank you for watching, I’m so glad you found it useful! 😊
Thank you Cath for another great video detailing the “ins and outs” of the patterns you chose as your favourite. The information given is really helpful & interesting to see how each pattern looks in the various fabrics.
Although I haven’t made them yet I have three of the patterns, the Sagebrush, Steve and the Kalle and you have given me more confidence in tackling them now.
I’m so glad you found the video helpful 😊 thank you so much for watching!
Loved all your makes. Such beautiful fabrics you chose. I’ve said this before you sew very neatly. Looking forward to your next video 🥰👗🧵
Thank you very much 🥰🌸
Some stunning makes again Cath. Love the navy check on you. Looks lovely on you, and the Sagebrush too is beautiful. You have a lot of technical skills, yet you make them look achievable. Thank you.
Thank you very much 😊
I could have guessed your top 5 - same as mine 😌 although I’ve not yet made the Kalle as I find button plackets really tricky and need to find a tutorial 🤔. You always choose such beautiful fabrics too 🥰
Thank you so much for watching 🥰 hope you can find a good tutorial for the kalle so you can make that one, I’m looking forward to getting mine out as Spring approaches 😊🌸
It was really helpful to see your Stevie versions as I am about to make one. Totally changed my mind about fabric choice having seen your viscose ones. Loved them all! Wonderful inspiration, thanks Cath. 😀
Thank you very much for watching, hope you enjoy sewing your Stevie 😊
Hello Cath, thank you for your great video. Loved all your makes & discussing the patterns you have used. I like the way you explain whether a pattern will be suitable for a complete beginner or you need some experience, makes it so much easier to buy patterns.
Thanks so much for watching, I’m so glad to hear you found the vlog helpful 😊
I loved seeing your avid seamstress blouses. That's on my make 9 list. The white blouse is adorable. I'd love to make the exact one if I can find similar fabric. Thanks for a great video!
Thank you very much for watching, hope you can find some similar fabric for the blouse 😊
Nice to see your choice of fabrics. I’m hoping to make the Kalle dress Version in the near future and have been looking at choices of fabrics! Thanks for sharing! XXX
Thank you very much. Hope you enjoy sewing your kalle dress 😊 xxx
Another great video, the Stevie looks lovely in the drapery fabric. And the Sage brush top is another that I never really liked before, but I love your double gauze version 👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼😍
Thank you very much! 🥰
Liked them all.
Thank you 😊
You did such a great presentation! I think I will buy two of those patterns. Thank you
Thank you very much for watching, I hope you enjoy the patterns!
I looooove this videos. Thank you very much Cath!
Thank you, so glad you enjoy them! 😊
Lovely makes Cath. I’ve only made the Stevie in cotton lawn but sized down a lot to give it more shape. I found the top very short but should try it again in Viscose. Have you seen the hack on tatb of adding a gathered skirt to the bodice? 🤗
Thanks very much Ruth 😊 I have seen the Stevie gathered skirt hack but not tried it yet, I’d like to though 🤗
Your tops are great such a wide variety.
Thank you very much 😊
Great fabric choices for everything! Great video. I wouldn’t have chosen the second pattern you showed but I loved your versions of them so now I’m thinking I need that pattern! 😁
Thank you very much! Ah fab hope you enjoy the sagebrush top if you do get it, it’s a fun sew! 😊
Thanks, Cath...I wanna make them all! I have made the Sagebrush Top a couple times...love! I would have to put the Roscoe Blouse/Dress on my list😉❤️...it’s so much fun + a good gift since it’s easy to fit.
Thank you for watching! 🥰 Ooh yes the Roscoe looks really lovely, I’d really like to give that one a go! 😊💕
How does the sagebrush look on a more busty figure? I am worried that it may make me look larger because of the design
I plan to make the Sagebrush top soon. Thank you for sharing your versions!
Thank you for watching, hope you enjoy sewing the sagebrush top!
Oh dear, now I need to buy all of the patterns as I love all your versions! I only have the stevie top which I love to layer over a long sleeved thermal in winter. I really love the sage brush top but have delayed buying it as I don’t like puff sleeves on me. Seeing your version with some of the volume taken out though makes me really want it now. Thank you for sharing 😃
Thanks so much for watching. I really like the idea of layering the Stevie, I definitely need to give it a go before it warms up here 😊
Really nice, Cath!
Thank you very much 😊
some fab inspiration there :) I've been wanting to sew more woven fabric makes - I seem to have got stuck on stretchy fabric at the mo! Thank you
Thank you very much, so glad you found it useful! 😊
Could you recommend a semi fitted or fitted long sleeved Tee Shirt pattern please? Smaller neck better it’s chilly where I live! :) working my way through your amazing videos. So glad I discovered you. Keep up the good work.
oo I think i found one - wardrobe by me!
Oh fab glad you found one you like that look of! Thank you very much for watching!
Thank you Cath, really enjoyed this vlog as I have the others in your favourite makes series. All the comments you put in about the making of each pattern are so helpful. I bought the Stevie pattern as my first garment pattern, it took me about a year to finally attempt it, but it is very easy and I don’t know why I waited. I’ve just bought the Scout Tee this week now that hopefully some good weather will be along soon. 🍀🌺
Thanks so much for watching, I’m so glad you found it helpful 😊 I hope you enjoy sewing the Scout tee 😊🌸
Morning Cath, just found your vlog. Absolutely love your makes, definitely some of those I'm going to try. Thank you 😊
Thanks so moving for watching, hope you enjoy trying some of these patterns 😊
Thanks for this Cath. I always love these videos. So inspiring. I’ve bought the sage brush but I’ve never made my own bias binding. Hopefully the instructions are easy to follow. I’ve applied my first shop bought bias binding to a neck and loved the neat finish 😊
Thanks so much for watching! I love a bias binding finish too. I found the Sagebrush top's instructions very good, hope you do too :-)
lovely video, very inspiring! I think my favourite top ever is the sagebrush _ no surprise there lol
the closet core kalle now comes in inclusive sizing (14-30 in pdf)
Thank you for watching! I love all of your sagebrush tops 😊 it’s such a fab fun pattern isn’t it.
Oh that’s great to know re the kalle, I hadn’t realised that!
Love your videos and ghe way you structure and present hhem. Definitely my favourite, thankyou. I have been thinking of purchasing the Sage Brush top for a while, so great to see some finished versions, they look lovely. I feel the trouble with Indie patterns are they're quite an investment, so you have to make more than one. Do you use many of the "Big 4's" patterns? Jan
Thank you very much 😊 I really like the sagebrush top, it’s a nice sew. When I started sewing I liked indie patterns as I found they held my hand through the sewing process with their pictures and instructions. I’ve sewn a few big 4 patterns but would like to try more 😊
These all look good, but being frugal means it will take a while to justify buying them all when there are so many free patterns available!
That’s true, there a lot of lovely free patterns out there 😊 thanks for watching
Thank you for this highlight on some lovely patterns! I noticed a few of your skirts :) the corduroy one and the denim one.. did you make those? if so what pattern did you use?
Thanks!
Thank you for watching! I did make the skirts too :-) The denim one is the Brumby skirt by Megan Nielsen. The red corduroy skirt is the Tulip skirt by Sew Over it.
👏
😊
Hey Cath, it appears that your videos have been hiding from me, I’m trying to catch up. Great tops. X
Thanks so much Claire x
Thank for the inspiration. If I may, I would ask that you speak a bit slowlier because it is quite difficult for foreigners to catch all the very useful informations you share.
Thanks for watching 😊 You can always slow the video speed down - there’s an option in settings (at the bottom of the video, the gear icon) to play at different speeds, hope that helps.
👌💝💝💝👍😁😘
🥰🥰💕💕🌸
