  • Replacement of the headlamp header support bar and rivets which cause dimples/bulges in the nose fiberglass. Also, rebuilding of the headlight assembly while they were out of the car.

Thanks for the kind words Al. I attempt to make videos on topics that few others have already covered on CZcams. Hopefully these are helpful to others, as so many videos have helped me with my project.

I have a 75. Someone bottomed it out. The header bar came loose. The headlights rub on body. Your video is the best out there. Thank you so much. Tim😊

I'm in the process of doing a frame-off rebuild on a 72 as well. Your videos have been extremely helpful. Keep up the good work Mike!

So I'm about a year into this project and having a really good time with it. It's like a giant puzzle to me except everything looks and functions so much better once cleaned up and reassembled. I'm planning to remarry the body & frame over the next month and then send it out for paint. If everything goes smoothly, I'll be driving it on its 50th birthday which is in June 2022.
      Good luck with your project!
      Mike

@@mikelandwehr-corvette Totally agree. It's so satisfying to bring these cars back to their former glory. I'm about 6 months in on my project. Just got the frame blasted and painted and got brake/fuel lines installed last weekend. Hopefully going to get a rolling frame within the next month.
Best of luck on the body drop! That's the next part of this job I'm getting a little intimidated by. I was thinking about doing body/paint before I drop the body on the frame in order to avoid overspray, but I'm bit afraid I'd muck up my new paintjob in the process. Hopefully all goes smoothly on your end! I'll be eagerly awaiting the next C3 video.

That is a great video ! As a professional bodyman I must say you did a great job. If you ground through the outer body shell while removing the rivets it really would not make a big difference since it was going the the body shop .(still a nice job) and I think I would have left the head light assy out for paint . Making these vids are a lot of work with one hand . It really helps people though . Thanks !

You did a very good job . I have heard of guys installing the header panel and it wasn't lined up proper which made it very hard to get the head light back in place and lined up.

Take a 2" alum. Flat bar. X 4" . drill a 3\4" hole. Center it over the rivet. Clamp on each side with spring clamps. Good luck .

The correct way to repair “header bar” issues is to replace the hood surround. It’s a big, expensive job, but the results are worth it.

Why go through all that trouble? Some SMC filler can easily fill those in after removing those rivets

  • @TRUTHandLIGHT4809
    @TRUTHandLIGHT4809 Před 6 měsíci

Its seems like grinding the rivets and pulling off the metal in one piece would be better, if you want to reuse. The rivets would be sticking out and you can grab with a pliers?

Those rivet bumps on cars especially bad on 68-72 vettes tell you that it was badly maintained in humid garage or outdoors in rain and snow!!!!!

Sadly soon all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-(
In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.(BABBVEN LAWS AND TEBBVEN ORDERS)!!!!

You need a mask, when dealing with all that fiberglass.
