Good tip and helpful video
Thank you
I just had a new and expensive bronze shower door much like this one and the caulk job is not good! And the caulk is shiny so its very obvious. Hopefully the company will come back and remove it and do it again. Is there clear caulk that isn’t shiny? Thanks for your reply .
How do you recommend cleaning the old silicone off? We had our door done inside and out but still leaked. I am surprised you said outside only. maybe that is our issue other than sloppy work?
We have an all tile walk-in shower and the caulking they did on the glass wall/door on the inside bottom has already needed to be redone twice in two years because of mold. Am I reading this correctly and there isn't even supposed to be caulking at the bottom of the glass inside?
It’s not necessary, you can do outside only. If it is being replaced, make sure to properly remove & clean the surface before reapplying new silicone
Dammit
Do you silicone on the inside of the door too?
Nope! That will cause the water to get trapped inside the door, where it'll get moldy
I just went through this ordeal and had to reseal my shower twice after 4 months because I didn't seal the inside of the door and water just sits under there and doesn't all run out and molds and mildews and smells like sewer coming back up through the drain. It took me a while to figure out where the smell was coming from. Seal it all up or you'll do it twice.
Same here. I’m actually redoing right now… it started to smell since who ever applied before didn’t do a good job.
Mines leaking from between the frame and glass not the tile can i use this same sealer
You seal the inside keeps the water from coming out and not trap inside the track and you don't see the silicone from the outside
It will keep the screws from getting rusty, tub and tile silicone won't get stain, if you seal it with tile sealer
Manufacturer instruction says you have to caulk outside ! It even says warranty would be voided if you caulk from inside
First!
Very helpful, thanks.
