  • PC Trigger Frost gets to go out to pasture with his mares. Henson uses Stellar, a 2 yr old outside filly, to gather up the mares.
The babies are all for sale, although several are already sold. Find Jerry Winn on Facebook if you would like info.

Seeing Trigger being led out on a loose lead, versus some of the pampered breed studs with several grooms clinging desperately to double lead ropes and getting dragged all over.
Manners have to be taught and refreshed.
And it looks like one of the mares was ready to remind him that he has to be a gentleman.

@Dan Reardon I think it's a lifestyle and training difference.
I've seen TB studs that were well-mannered, but they were also being used as breeding ranch horses - they didn't go stall-crazy because they had things to do like guard their mares, chase cows and travel long distances.

As a stallion owner it's good to see others who understand the importance of proper training and handling of their studs. As leader of the herd (human) our teachings to the stallion is for his benefit and safety as well as our own. Kudos to you. Blessings from Georgia.

I've trained my arabian stallion to remain at my side with or without his lead rope until I release him to go to his mares. He is surrounded by mares, often with their foals, at all times. He prefers them rather than geldings because it allows him to feel like he always has a herd. He's a great babysitter for weanlings who are much more secure and happy with an adult horse for company once they no longer have their mothers. I trail ride him completely tackless alone or in company. People are surprised when they notice he's a stallion because he is so well behaved.

I was wondering, since your horses have the room to turn around in the trailer, why do you back them out of it and not just turn them around and lead them out so they are able to see better. It might also give them time to not spook and see where they are going if they are learning.

I have answered this before... these are 2 yr olds that we start for other people; if they can unload both ways then they are able to get out of any situation they might face in the future. Makes a well rounded horse if they can do both if you ask me. #FoundationFirst
