It's topwater time!
What's your favorite topwater lure?
Many people love the Super Spook Jr...
But is the Badonk-A-Donk actually a better lure?
In this video, I'm doing an experiment to see not only which lure catches more fish, but also which lure skips better, casts better, and has better action.
If you like throwing topwater lures, you're going to love this video!
Have you used these two lures?
What did you think?
Do you have a favorite?
Let me know down in the comments!
P.S. Be sure to watch the whole video since after I filmed my conclusion I did some bonus casting and had an incredible encounter with a snook! - Zábava

Good video! Only suggestion would be to use the same colors. Also, one advantage of Badonk-A-Donk is better castability. No comparison on slightly windy days. I use mine for Large Mouth Bass from land and love it.
Love the concept...but not using the same color of each bait really makes any results suspect.
The only reason this doesn’t skew the results is because the fish only really see the belly of the lure. Just as in bass fishing with frogs. Colors are useless if the belly isn’t a useful color. Hence why the super spook in bone is such a staple
I like both lures but I've caught a lot more fish on the spook but both are must haves in the tackle box.
What size/brand do you recommend as a inline hook replacement for the spook jr.
I like and own both but, I've do prefer action of donka donk and find that it casts better in my experience 🤷🏻♂
What length, weight and action do you prefer for your rod when working these lures?
I like a size 2/0 inline VMC for the badonks never swapped the trebles off a spook but probably same size wouod work. . I find the spook will cast better on a calm wind but the added weight of the badonk will punch through a bit more wind for me . Using a 7’0 8-17 lb with 10lb braid usually.
Can't beat the skitter walk biggest issue with spook is the hooks are so weak on the saltwater version, my son prefers the spook I open the package and change hooks as soon as he drops them off.
I wrote them about it no response. I use singles on all my skitterwalks , they cast farther and I prefer the action only drawback is the short distance from eye to first hook just use 1/0 front 2/0 back.
Spook Jr absolute trout killer. Digging the skitterwalk lately though
I have both. Do prefer the badonk when conditions aren’t perfect.
I use both but like a white badonkadonk with an orange belly better.
brought some badonga donks back to uk from holiday in Florida now my go too for sea bass, need to get back over to stock up, can get spooks here but not donks
Both staples in my arsenal
Have you done a video about changing out the hooks on these baits ? I can't seem to find much info about it or what hooks to use
Yes, this page have everything you need to know: fishstrong.com/products/owner-single-replacement-hooks?variant=32601329008725
@@Saltstrong you are awesome, thx
Which Badonkadonk, high pith or low pitch? That color Badonkadonk is a super Shad flash imitator, freshwater for bass or single inline hooked for saltwater.
What is the thought or reasoning on using the single hooks on these lures vs the treble hooks?? Is your hookup ratio better with one or the other or do they swim better or what??
Less damaging to fish.
It really depends on time and day, conditions, fish mood etc
Was it a LP or HP.. ??
Superspook Jr has caught me a lot of fish.
Badonk-a-donk wins for me, very "catchy name" indeed.
Is your hookup ratio as good with singles as it is with trebles ?
We have not noticed any decrease when using single hooks
Was that the high or low frequency badonkadonk?
It was the high frequency one
Ever tried a whopper plopper for inshore species?
not familiar with using Badink-A-Donk
You should have used the same color for both.
Super spook crushes stripers in the northeast as well. Go to topwater lure
Super spook is the best
Way over analysis of a simple concept. My opinion.
