This style of music is all my youth, but I have the impression that a lot of people feel it like the expression of a memory that we never lived. Excellent mix 🖤🖤🖤

Im so tired of people talking this way, altough you re right
I'm not sure... I have made peace with the fact that I cannot consume all music/bands I might like "at the right time". So there might be more people like me, that are just happy to discover brilliant songs of one of their many interests. Might be that I could catch a gig in nearby, might also be, that the band has long surpassed. Too bad in the latter case, but it's like that.
I am 52 and I will never grow out of dream pop/shoegaze or whatever you want to call it. Going to see the best band ever on 10/6 in Denver. Slowdive! Great mix.
I'm just 51 but this wonderful music makes me feel there's a connection, a bond, with old guys like you.
I'm a few years younger 44, at this post but I'm with you. been a Slowdive fan since 1991 :)
I've always loved this type of music. Growing up I never knew what it was called. Thanks for putting me onto Slowdive. I was around when they came out but I don't think I ever heard of them.
48 :)
@@kentjensen4504 LOL! Good one.
The Cure's Lol Tolhurst: 'Goth is about being in love with the melancholy beauty of existence' This is a great soundtrack for that concept.
i hear so much of Cocteau Twins in so many of these pieces of music. i feel blessed that i went through my teenage years when C.T's were first appearing and at their height. Their legacy in music is massive. We owe John Peel a huge debt for bringing them to our attention as we do for so many bands
I'm 44 and just getting into them. I love this style of music, too, but my older brother got me into bands like Depeche Mode and Run DMC. So glad I can catch up now!
Glad you mentioned the late great John Peel. He should have been awarded a professorship, because he probably educated more people about music than any number of universities. To our lasting pleasure. He certainly added a lot to the sum total of human happiness.
Indeed! Got into CT around '82 and even saw them live in 85! That truly was the best musical era of modern times, not just for goth/sg, but for all the creative genres music of that decade.
Shoegaze/Dreampop always evokes that comfortable melancholy nostalgia
Whoever built this playlist has AMAZING taste.
Thank you
Yes they did. Its so beautiful.
And so do you. That's why you're here enjoying it like myself. Hair raising good.
Add this to playlist.

@@cypresscempr3s399You make music yourself right Cypress? Can you tell me how to find your creation’s?
10:47 Feels like walking into a club or a venue before a concert starts. Shadows in the night. Anticipation. Butterflies. A good song you've never heard before. Losing yourself in the vibes.
Wow, remember that one ipod song "Music is my boyfriend" it reminds me of that band lol,
As a 03 baby who listens to mostly rap coming back into an era of music that u didn’t belong too is like time travel it’s awesome and I hope future generations do the same. Music is the closest thing we have to time travel
yup as an 01 guy, just discovered this new sound, and was immediately blown away.

Keep your mind/hearts open, and beauty will surprise you even in 2100 - see you there
Born 1990 and missed shoegaze... grew up on nu-metal... this is better, some of it.
This is the most perfect 1 hour, 23 minutes and 25 seconds of my life ever.
I liked, that you put the pictures of the artists, so we can recognize then. Thank you for posting.
Melancholy makes me happy.
Same !!
Yep.... I am also 54 and this brings me way back..... With a hint of melancholy longing I love this. Reminds me of things I wish I had said....the ghosts from my past.
I'm only 34 but a had a few years in my teens where I loved this type of music. So I can relate. :D
I'm 24 and wish I could meet more older people that used to like this songs when younger. This way I could somehow see my future, based on the decisions they've made, the life they live, etc.
I think when we have a similar musical taste we share the same vision, thoughts...
@@abraaopereiranunes2677 That’s an unusual comment from someone your age. I’ll be 64 soon and I’ve had a great life, and still enjoying it. Keep an open mind, be a good friend, be generous, look after those less fortunate and don’t forget to live your life. It passes quickly.

Imagine telling someone who's super into MBV and Slowdive in the early '90s that 30 years later this sound is gonna come back, but it's gonna be almost seamlessly blended not just with mid-'80s 4AD Records-type stuff but also things that sound like a less bombastic version of Pink Floyd's "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason"...
It seems to be more of an ethos than a genre. The songs in this mix fit together seamlessly, but I would have a hard time writing a definition for "Shoegaze" music. Would Portishead or Stereolab fit into this group? What about Yo La Tengo or Luna? Maybe categories aren't that important. But I'm happy to learn about all the new-to-me bands presented in this mix.
I agree. Pink Floyd was my first favorite band. I like most of their albums. I love atmospheric & dreamy music.
Love the worn out mp3 quality. Reminds me of the limewire years.
Beautifully done; Just cleaned the house; its a very cozy and rainy day here in Berlin Germany. To sit now and chill with my favorite thc strain in the safeness of the ghostly home next to my tuxedo Cat with this, is being the best Mid Week treat, a way of celebrating the shoe gaze and dreamy days of winter to come. Thank You. Stay D A R K , with love from The Hauptstadt Berlin
I would like to see that cat :) I love cats!
Love and blessings back to you and tuxedo kitty from our feline family here in USA!

Shoegaze > everything
Chaos
Still one of my favourite types of music. And I am 56.
Merci pour this amazing pot-pourri! Reminiscence of The Dandy Warhols "Good Morning" psychedelic sound
secret attraction is gold, when i got the blush album i just knew he would be one of those bands id love forever
I LOVE Men I Trust so so much!!
I don't know what magic moments are made of, but, certainly, they sound like this 🎧🎙🎸🎶
Indeed good sir.
This group Slowdive made a pretty wall of sound. Go big or go home. Way to go.
its more like a thick cloth, fabric like a dense web. you can sneak into it, can get drawn into it, can be surrounded by it
@@northernblues77 Now you're just reminding me of Shelob
Yes! Slowdive has to be my favorite shoegaze band.
Great list. This old 80's kid (I'm 54) loves this style of music. The Smiths, Kitchens of Distinction, Lush, etc where some of my bands in the day.
I never heard of Kitchens of Distinction.
@@ineedstuff8286 Check out Drive that Fast from them.
I’m working on a book about the south London music scene and I wrote to Kevin from The Kitchens of Distinction, asking if he wanted to chip in some stories and adventures. He didn’t write back, sadly.
alright im going to be truthful... I am not into the vocals. They're too... idk.. clear, and they just sound like 80's vocals... which is fine, we all have our different tastes, but I just want to be honest with you guys since let's be real... we have more in common than most all other humans on this planet. Take care.
@@ericwhitehead6451 Thank you! Thank you ! Thank You ! Never heard Kitchens of Distinction before, this track is perfect ! Can't stop listening it since yesterday ^^
kinda glad u included more obscure bands instead of adding the most obvious ones like mbv and beach house
Man, I love Tamaryn. So glad you started this playlist with Love Fades. I have wonderful memories driving in the desert to Zion National Park blasting that album. Shoegaze and that alien landscape are a dream when paired.
Great playlist, thanks.

This playlist is awesome. No matter how many times I listen to it, the feels are still there. Deeply moving and beautiful. Thanks for putting this together 👍
I am loving this. Very reminiscent of The Sundays and Cocteau Twins, and that is an extremely good thing.
😅
thank u so much man... i was looking for that band for years (The Sundays) and I couldnt rember its name
How about this fan made music video for Bowery Electric song ? Which is rather darkly depressing.
czcams.com/video/brtvOFkyI4s/video.html
The Sundays were amazing! I wish they had done more, though.
I've been smitten by the Cocteau Twins since 1983,the pink Opaque was my first glimpse of shoegaze,40 years later they are my fav, slowdive, tamyrn, also excellent, btw drab Majesty is retrowave fairly newer band but excellent,"cold souls" and "the heiress" are awesome
You have grade A, white pony taste
You should check out Beach House if you haven't. They are a great modern era dream pop style band.
@@bloomeye6969 this made us laugh only because it should be common knowledge but probably isn’t which is why the world sucks
I've been hearing lots of good things about the twins. One of my favorite bands is beach house & they have them listed as one of their main influences. It's time to check them out. Can you recommend your favorite please?

The first few seconds into this playlist and I'm totally into it...

not a bad modern mix. Tamaryn Love Fade is really something else. Always loved that song. Closest thing to Shields guitar I ever heard.

Pleasure Symbols...new to me! Love this sound!!!!
This collection flows so nice. I actually just went back in my youtube history from 5 months ago just to find it again because I didn't have it marked. There are excellent songs on here and you did an excellent job of putting them exactly where they need to be. It tracks like a really good album. Thank you! DK
