Then, he desperately tried to save his relationship with Amber only for it to broke up for good.
Finally, Angstrom took Debbie and Oliver as hostages. And he could be really dangerous with his interdimensional power.
Angstrom chose either the best or the worst time to fight Mark.

Cecil was having a hard day, what with everyone and their uncle trying to quit, Mark asking for time off, and now a Viltrumite _and_ a kaiju just showed up. He's allowed some sarcasm.
Anissa doesn't care about Mark or the planet. What she cares about is completing her objective. She was tasked with trying to convince Mark to do his "job". So she tried to appeal to him via logic and diplomacy. That's why they sent her. She's one of the few Viltrumite's who's really good at doing things the Non-Viltrumite way. However, she also has their genetic temper so when Mark said no, she went from a cool 5 to a solid 8 on the anger scale. The ONLY reason she didn't kill him is because she's not trying to answer to the Grand Reagent for the unauthorized killing of a Viltrumite; no Viltrumite wants to report failure to him. Anissa prefers to settle things with violence, all homegrown Viltrumites do, but they live and breathe discipline so they don't get violent unless they have to or are given permission.

Very nice spoiler free description of how Viltrumites work their duties. People used to comment stuff like this back in season 1 where there were less people that read the comic and knew how to explain things safely
and they already culled half their population and got hit with another "world ending threat" shortly after, so they can't afford to kill anymore of their own without really good reason
BRO, when the show first came out so many people thought (due to invincible being assumed satire to heroism which I think is unfair to say) that viltrumites were just a murdering race. Although that might seem the case on the surface, they have an extreme deep history of indoctrination and tradition, s2 has shown viltrumites to actually have codes, rules and obligations just like us, just in a different more violent form.
Due to the experiments the Unopan's conducted to make Allen, his powers essentially work like that of a Saiyan. Each time he fights and gets close to death, he becomes stronger after recovering from the battle. No mixing of genes or anything. Just a Zenkai Boost
To be fair the viltrumites get stronger like that too

eh people really liked her in season 2 and while it is sad this version of her overall felt better in my opinion.
The amber in the show was done way better and the breakup is more sadder than the comics
Even putting aside the absolute fuckery that S1 Amber was, they fixed her character up enough where I high-key forgot when the breakup happened and was low-key devastated by it.
Yep. Season 2 Amber gave me whiplash. I knew the moment she started acting nice and understanding, that they were just trying to make people like her so the break-up would be sad. I still didn't forgive her ass from Season 1.

Viltrumites get stronger the more they push themselves and recover from severe damage( Zenkai Boost) and Allen( being apart of a super soilder project) was a super-Uponan. His adaptation/Zenkai boost ability was pure luck and is on par if not stronger than Viltrumites on average.
Absolutely stronger, he managed to catch Anissa off balance AND did damage to her. Idk if he necessarily beats out someone like Nolan, but he clearly is around that level.

Allen gets the near-death beating boost, Viltrumites don't. They need to train to get stronger, and even then genetics play a very important factor.

Also in the comics she's just blatantly not as strong as him and it's stated as such. Nolan is one of the literal top dogs in the viltrumites empire, known as the great Nolan for a reason.

Besides, I seriously doubt Nolan was holding back on beating on Mark, aside from actually killing him. The full strength of Viltrumites, in both show and apparently the comics, comes out with rage, and Nolan was raging plenty in his fight with Mark. Also, it took quite a few hits from Nolan to draw blood on Mark and damage his costume, while Anissa's _opening blow_ opened up Mark and shattered one of his google lenses.
One correction about Cecil's statement on Mark's odds: he said that Mark had an 18% chance of _surviving_ a fight with Anissa, not for winning.

Btw, that whole 4th wall break moment is in the book as well. In the book, they make fun of how comic artists will sometimes repeat the same panel over and over with different word balloons to save time while its happening in the book. Love that they kept that.

If im not mistaken in the comics his race was genetically made to fight of Viltrumites. With Allan's being one of the only successful ones. Each time he gets into a fight he gets stronger. In the comics he reached a level that was close to battle beast in terms of strength

That scene where Cecil told Mark to comply to Anissa’s demands and pretend to submit is actually very interesting, considering she could hear EVERYTHING they were saying with her advanced hearing, and she even told them that she could hear them. It really shows how she truly didn’t want to destroy Earth or even allow the Viltrum Empire to destroy it. Very complex character.

In the comics Mark mentions that it's a misconception that he has super hearing. I don't know if the show is continuing this idea but Anissa shouldn't be able to hear Cecil. Anissa is making a guess that people are listening, which makes more sense why Cecil would call her smart after that.
