okay settle down kids it's time for a lesson, if you consider a good lyricist as mad wordplay and metaphors and hidden meanings like wretch is known for and rated for you'd realise this..
if you actually stop and think about it the reason akala and lowkey can never be considered the best lyricists is because if they had hidden meanings and wordplay as high as wretch or ghetts or even krept and konan it'd go against everything they stand for, they're calling for world peace and morality checking and ending stereotypes and the problems in the world.
it'd be near impossible to do both as it'd fly over the majority's heads and their message will get lost, i'm not saying they dont apply it to their more grimey or original songs before they hit what you'd consider mainstream (in the sense of london urban fame not international) and made enough p to get out of the ends then look towards helping the unprivileged.
but in their known songs or radio sessions that made everyone look there's little to no wordplay on the level of wretch's, im not saying its bad it's just they cant convey their message with mad wordplay.
i rate both akala and lowkey for what they've done/doing, they have mad knowledge and morality and impeccable flows but bar for bar they're not on the levels of wretch or ghetts not through lack of talent but through difference of what they're looking to do in music.
