Leandro Barbieri (born November 28, 1932, in Rosario, Santa Fe Province, Argentina), known as Gato Barbieri (Spanish for "Barbieri the Cat"), is an Argentinean jazz tenor saxophonist and composer who rose to fame during the free jazz movement in the 1960s and is known for his Latin jazz recordings in the 1970s. - Hudba

Cuando escuche por primera vez a este Grandisimo virtuoso del Sax, fue en 1978 con su disco Fire, me quede prendido de el, es dificil dejar de escuchar todas sus melodias, cada una impregnada de fuerza, romanticismo y sobre tod....Pasion!!!

my aunt had the Caliente album...I heard Europa for the first time in late 70's - one of the most magical songs of all time. I can and do listen to it over and over again, it takes me to another place.
My uncle, my dad & I all have that Caliente! album, too. My other favorite song is Don’t Cry Rochelle.

Europa is a masterpiece.
What a song. The first time I heard this song was when I saw the movie Last Tango in Paris. It has been a favorite ever since. Gato owns this song 100%. Beautiful live version!

Gato Barbieri and Carlos Santana should have done a full album together. I really would have had love to hear them together aside from the "Latin Lady" track they did together on Gatos Caliente album and the video of them doing Europa on The PBS Broadcast. I know it would have been great to hear!!!

Matt Vaughn I was privileged to see el Gato perform many times in small venues beginning in the 60's. Such a great loss when he crossed over last year & then tonight watching the Grammys they showed his photo during the memorium- that's when the crocodile tears hit. Such an wonderful generous macho humorous obnoxious genius musician man. Hard not to ❤
