I cover my with small piece of masking tape. Then Sharpie over it. Doesn't ruin top of pedal. Also don't use the mod switch much. Cause I got a decent chorus pedal. But before I got that pedal I glued a lego piece to the mod switch so I can use it with my foot. Works pretty good when I do use it.

I play electric mandolin and this puppy produces some of the most awesome sounds live. So versatile, and despite the "darkness" that some people find offputting, I absolutely love it. My favorite effects pedal.

Best delay ever made. Incredible little box. Endless tone shaping. Then theres the pot on the inside for the mod. I dont even bother with a chorus. Just use this guy.

Sounds like the shimmer effect on the modulation mode, Sounds great although I have the BOSS DD-8, definitely getting this pedal...

I get feedback as soon as I put the Regen up past 9. The noise you got at 5:31 and it does exactly what it did when you started dialing back the nobs. Gets louder and louder and just keeps going.

if you don’t want it to self-oscillate, keep the regen knob at or lower than level of the delay knob

This is the format every review should follow. Really don't need a lot of commentary. And I hate it when you cannot see the dials. Odd that it's all clean and acoustic, though....there are a lotta rockers out there.

Yea, I own one of these, outstanding pedal , warm , sweet tone very versatile I combine my Holy Grail Reverb pedal with this and just bliss !
The M300 reverb is great too. I'd love to hear them together

Most of those sweet sounds come from the wet mix being more than 50%, should try that more often

Great video! Love the carbon copy! My favorite feature is the Regen knob, made some cool sound fx in one of my songs.
I am planning to pair this with the TC Electronic Flashback Triple Delay. Maybe try to do some Frippertronic style ambient. (Yes Chords of Orion inspired me :D)

Ah I love the carbon copy so much! I can get so many great sounds out of that thing, and it's so simple. Such a great, murky analog delay.
If you don't know there are modulation controls under the backplate, make sure to check them out ;) I also unbiased mine a little to get more of the analog artifacts out of it but I don't recommend doing that unless you know what you're doing!
can you point to some online instructions on biasing the cc? if possible, i'd like to dial out that little bit of analog artifact i hear happening. it's not much, just enough to be noticeable at longer delay rates.

I do, it sounds great!
Darker? The cap should be brighter than this...any tape delay should be brighter than this (unless then tape is super old). Tape is, by nature, a relatively hifi medium

Can the tc electronic flashback achieve the same gorgeous sounds as the carbon copy?
Of course not. But TC is good. I have both of them, Carbon Copy for long modulated delay and Flashback for digital, dotted eight notes

so different. i dont use much tap tempo so i prefer carbon copy. i have one long time and still on my board. mxr sound soooo good it can be fatten up your sound (i feel like that)

Hi Antoine, i also saw your demo of the Strymon Brigadier. I have a CC, do i need a Brigadier? Do you have a favorite? Thanks.
Get the Brigadier only if you want to stretch the limit of analog delays. The CC has some very authetic analog delays, but they can't go much longer than one second. With the Brigadier, you can go up to 5 second repeats and have more control on bucket loss and modulation.

Between mxr carbon copy and Boss dd3 which One is more better,think to buy after this.
I have the boss dd3 and I regretted choosing it over mxr carb copy. But i ll prolly sell my dd3 and go buy mxr
Why on every review of this pedal do I see the reviewer running the mix at 12oclock to full. Mine sounds awful at anything over 8oclock, far too much repeat in the mix. :(
My guess is to give the listener more time to listen to how the delay sounds. I agree it’s not very practical.
Kept trying to like this pedal but i just find it thunky, like dropping a bowling ball onto carpet. My old DM2 is gorgeous. Horses for courses.

@@benjiorchard1203 just curious, why did you sell the delux Memory Boy for the Carbon Copy? Like what makes you prefere the Carbon Copy?
Van Calloway I think they sound very similar. So if you want another Memory Boy, you could also get the Carbon Copy.
Sound 4 must have had added reverb?
Nope just a high regen rate and high mix with shorter/medium delay setting plus modulation engaged. Having the delay at the slowest setting (all the way to the right) really allows space in between delays and creates that soundscape that sounds similar to reverb. But as you can see from that example it still works with the delay up quite a bit. the further to the left the delay knob is set is closer to slapback delay(faster delay times) The modulation being engaged doesnt hurt either. If you dont already know this there are two trim pots inside the pedal one for width(think depth) and one for speed which controls the modulation setting. I removed them and wired a B500k to one and a B100k to the other and drilled a hole on each side of the battery compartment and installed the pots in them so i can control the modulation settings externally.

@@shckltnebay Awesome brother, lol it's funny how everyone (including me) has to go through a few (or in some cases several) chorus pedals in order to have one that meets their sound expectations, buffered or true bypass preference, control parameters preference etc. I've been happy with almost every pedal I've bought, built or modded the first go around but with chorus it was a true quest for me and to be completely honest I still go back and forth between two and sold my greenhouse effects stonefish recently(I liked it but I use higher output pups a lot and it didn't have a whole lot of headroom, I'm still wondering if selling it was something I'll love to regret lol). Anyways, im glad you found your perfect chorus and delay! Some of us never do lol. Ive never owned an inspire or timeline but they are certainly excellent pedals from what I've seen an heard. Thanks for the complement!

I bought the mini, which has a tiny bright switch on the side. I hate it. Couldn't turn it off fast enough. If you play single coils step away from the bright switch. You'll hear a clicking sound that's louder than the effect.

What do you guys recommend for 80s hair metal sound mostly for like dokken sorta stuff
Well, for cleaner repeats and longer delay time, go with a digital delay, like a Boss DD7 or something. The Carbon Copy is really versatile, and can do subtle, but also quite obnoxious stuff. It's fairly dark so it stays away from your dry tone. Other similar pedals in the same price range to check out are Boss DM-2W, Dunlop Echoplex Delay (don't confuse this one with the preamp version). Try to score used ones in great condition. :)
