    Chi meegwetch for your wise words. The granddaughter of a disenfranchised Abenaki woman I hear you loud and clear. In peace and friendship, Nangiz-I Wawashkeshi-Kwe.

    No matter what is done will never be enough. Best to get a good education and look after yourselves individually. The present leaders and dysfunctional members will just drag you down.

    Thank you for speaking for all of us... I don't care what a piece of paper says... I know what my spirit says when I am at home on the land... we grew up on Talon Lake, many years before we knew my great grandmother was Algonquin (my grandfather was put in the system and did not know his mother).. we need to fight to keep our history alive and to come together as one people, regardless of which "side " we are from.

    Grand merci chère madame Wendy Jocko Chef de Pikwakanagan de la nation Algonquaine pour vos paroles si bien et clairement articulées qui expriment les espoirs de l’ensemble de nos peuples Algonquins pour devenir un peuple indigène uni de l’Ontario et du Québec. La dysfonction qui existe présentement entre les Algonquins du Québec et de L’Ontario ne sert a aucun objectif valable autre que fournir des avantages qui aident les intérêts de nos adversaires. La poursuite de l’unité entre les Algonquins de L’Ontario et du Québec est un but qui a le potentiel de nous situer comme une force formidable dans le cheminement des négociations entre nos peuples Indigènes et le gouvernement Fédéral du Canada. Nous, moi-même et tout et toutes ceux et celles qui sont de notre avis, apprécions et nous appuyions fortement vos initiatives tout en espérant que vos démarches vont produire les changements nécessaires. Meegwetch

    Has section II of the protocol agreement been amended or revised? And has section I.2.i been revised?

    • @LynnGehl
      @LynnGehl Před 3 lety

      I looked at the 2004 protocol agreement. Link is here:
      www.tanakiwin.com/wp-system/uploads/2019/04/1-Protocol-Agreement-March-25-20043_Signed.pdf
      I have four questions that I will number for clarity because textual community requires more exactness when conveying ideas, comments, suggestions, and questions:
      1. Do you mean the 2004 protocol agreement found at link I listed above? Or do you have a different document at your end?
      2. What do you mean when you use the word “sections”? I ask this question because I do not see the 2004 protocol agreement organized and structured using sections?
      3. That said does “ll” means two or eleven?
      4. I am not sure what “1.2.i”?

      @@LynnGehl Sorry, I should have clarified, I am referring to the ADDENDUM: www.tanakiwin.com/wp-system/uploads/2013/10/2-Addendum-to-Protocol-Agreement-July-30-20043.pdf
      Section 2 refers to the section titled II. The Electors.
      And 1.2.i refers to the first section titled: I. The Algonquin Nation Representatives, subsection I.2.i that states that an Algonquin Nation Representative can be: "Any other groups of persons in Ontario who want to be recognized as a
      Community of Algonquins in Ontario, and who can demonstrate that:
      a. they have a geographical connection with the Algonquin Territory in
      Ontario as reflected in the Map that is annexed as Appendix A (other than
      those Communities listed above); and
      b. they have a history of common interests, traditions and needs arising from
      their common Algonquin heritage."

      @@shadfez Section 2 of the 2004 Addendum to the Protocol Agreement - has not been amended or revised. But I am doubtful they will accept a new collective. Right now (March 2023) some of the ancestors are being protested and this could lead to a shift because Section 3 defines a community as 125 members. There is also a lot of discussion by community members, some council members, and an Algonquin intellectual that the communities lack historic legitimacy. That said, this land claims process is all about power over, versus what is right, moral, or truth. All the best in your studies! :)

      I am not so sure. She mentions pretendians yet does not flesh it out. The she focuses on non-status. Do you hear this too?

    • @LynnGehl
      @LynnGehl Před rokem

      I listened to it again today. W Jocko correctly argues that the non-status are Algonquin. She also discusses the removal of people who have an ancient ancestor - this is reasonable. But when she talks about "pretendians" I think I hear that they are the people with one ancient ancestors. It is important to value that some people are included through a fraudulent document with no proof they are Algonquin. Then the talk moves into addressing the Algonquin First Nations in Quebec - she argues the Ontario Algonquin have a measure of autonomy from the Quebec Algonquin. I am not sure - but I thought the Kichisippi Algonquin had hunting territory in what is now Quebec - ? I do wonder, I think the Kichisippi fled to Oka in the 1650s and some were lead to Kitigan Zibi First Nation, and I think other Algonquin went back to the Golden Lake area -? That said, I cannot help but think the autonomy she speaks of is reasoned through the current provincial federal order that divides us through the river. (Note this video is from 2 years ago - and so maybe she is not up on the fraudulent document matter - ?)
