The 360 view really shows off how much scenic detail and animatronics have been removed and replaced by darkness and foliage. It's beautiful but sparse and comparatively boring. I hope Disney plusses this further but they're too proud to admit when they fall short and too cheap to invest any more than they have to. This could have been phenomenal. It's just... fine...
Is it a monstrosity? No. It's okay. But compared to what it was, and an attraction built around 35 years ago by the brilliant Tony Baxter - it really is disappointing. Definitely a downgrade in my opinion.
Thanks for the footage. This is really good. I'm impressed at how much it showed of "what you see" versus "what the camera sees." ( Camera always picks up hidden LED spots that the human eye never sees. ) As a cameraman, you were awesome. Thank you for sharing this. I'm mostly behind this ride but there's two glaring issues I can't look away from. 1 - One of those Tiana animatronics is waggling her arms around in a way that is completely unnatural for the dialogue she's giving. It's as if the imagineers are so proud to show off their robotics skills no one stopped to question "But does it make sense in the context of this moment?" You can get away with that in Avatar where that priestesss or whatever is singing and moving her arms but with Tiana here, it makes no sense. She's just swinging wild like "Look at my arms! Aren't these a technological marvel?!" (sigh) No, it would be better if she just sat still and maybe only moved her head and mouth as boats pass by. 2 - There's no conflict. You need conflict for a story, and today's imagineers are the product of a public school system that gave out participation trophies, told everyone they're a winner, tried to stamp out bullying thus enabling a crop of people who can't stand they very thought of conflict. There was no appearance by Dr. Facilier from "the other side" it was all "love, happiness, friendship" and a completely watered down pablum of a narrative. The biggest conflict was getting shrunk which was well done, but there was no change of mood. Ours is a society based on children raised on ritalin and on this ride, it shows. No conflict = a sleepy ride.
I haven't heard a negative reviews from anyone that has actually been on the attraction. I love Splash Mountain. I enjoyed this attraction as well. If guests go in wanting to hate it, then that's what they'll get out of it. Even those that did hate on it came out and said "OK, that was good." At least we have plenty of 360 video of Splash Mountain before it closed, so it will always live on forever in it's original form.

Splash was just an absolute chefs kiss to imagineering, it was like riding through a looney tunes cartoon that gradually got more sinister and insane to build up to the immense drop. Unfortunately this has absolutely none of that charm and is solid proof that an existing ride system is nothing without effective theming snd storytelling. Seeing this just makes me miss the 90s even more… sigh

It'll be fun for kids, But for adults who know what we lost this is not comparable and without a doubt a downgrade. There is no quintessential Disney music and characters, No real Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah Joy. Sad....

This is so cool, love the transformation to being to being tiny! As a fan of bugs land, I was sad to see it go and now have a little infusion of the experience here. I did think there was more dead space but loved the gardens, just needed more characters from the movie probably.

The story line is about "getting musicians" but theres absolutely NO mention of this aside from 11:44. You for some reason turn tiny by mama odie? What's that got to do with any of this? It almost seems like they just put random things to extend the ride because they had no idea how to make this happen. This whole thing is a mess of fillers, darkness, animals not even seen in the movie, and frogs, way too many frogs. The only good animations were Tiana, Louis, and mama Odie, the rest just rock back and forth and side to side. they could have made the scenery more like the movie and less screens. They should have never opened the ride until it was done, theres still a lottie animatronic that hasn't been used yet. If it wasn't clear enough I don't like this ride, and if they wanted to change splash Mountain because of a song they could have replaced the song or re-do the ride, not just replace it all together.
It looks great. I can't wait to come to Orlando and ride in two weeks. I cordially invite anyone who doesn't like the ride to not ride it so the wait times can be reasonable for happy people that love and grew up with Louisiana in our blood.
