I remember Paul Elstak racing through my hometown in his Ford Escort always blasting hardcore. He came on a regular base through and you could hear him a mile away. Now, 30 year later, I still love his music, seen him a dozen+ times live and I just go down memory lane every time I hear his music.

It originated in Villa Parkzicht in Rotterdam in the early 90s when DJ started to experiment with the Roland T909 to see what weird stuff they could do with it. The subculture also included : Bald or other strange haircuts, colourful tracksuits, mailny by the brand Australia, mopeds, mdma fuelled raves, that sort of thing. As a spinoff and to appeal to a wider audience, happy hardcore emerged from gabber, a sort of poppy version.
