I genuinely appreciate that Lauren told us the baby was a doll. That could have been actually scary to watch if she hadn’t. And I feel like a lot if youtubers would have reveled in that.

they get it to cope with or simply to collect
a lot of people get them to cope with miscarriage or infant loss. They are also meant to help people who suffer from depression. I've looked into getting one myself because I absolutely love babies and feel I would emotionally benefit from one. They are very expensive tho.

Also, about the baby dolls. If I’ve been informed correctly, they are meant to look realistic for people who feel lonely, most commonly for the elderly who want something to take care of so those dolls help them feel better emotionally. The babies are sculpted to look very realistic and even are made of materials that can be in water so they can be bathed (and Yes, occasionally the dolls have private parts to make them seem more realistic) They even have pillows shaped like cats or dogs which are treated the same way. Now, people collect them because most of these dolls are very expensive and are made to look real for those people who are not doing very well mentally and to help them cope on a nice, controlled manor.
One example is if you watch Bojack Horseman, Bojack’s mom is very protective of a baby doll and treats it as if it was real. That’s what those dolls are for. Hope that helps!
Actually they were originally created as art, sculptures made by sculptors to be panted by an artist and put in collections. The therapeutic benefit’s were discovered later. Now as well as being collectible works of art they are used for people with dementia and those who are suffering grief. They were first only made in vinyl with cloth bodies and couldn’t be submerged in water, but now there are full body silicone ones that can be put in water.. although it’s not really recommended by the artists, after all it’s still painted 🙂
