I think Nicky Doll should have been safe anyway, she wasn't that bad in the acting challenge (she wasn't great but that could be said of others) and her runway was one of the best.

I loved Aiden's Silence of the Lambs look- it incorporated both the movie's poster and an actual dress from the movie. It was smart, looked good, and fit her drag. Def not the look she deserved to be raked over the coals for.
In comparison to Crystals? No, Aiden's falls way flat even if it may be tootable looking at it from the silence of the lambs point of view. "Heidi's is a Cape and a bodysuit". What is Aiden's? A small Cape, bodysuit, and a moth. I love Aiden she's fun but definitely is being babied in this judgment.

Why was Crystal judged in a completely different way than the other girls...
Didn't like the jumper and thought she was over accessorized. Didn't like that the cape and outfit were an ensemble that comes as 1 piece. It was a great cape but I agreed with the other stuff. Were you thinking they should just like the cape or not?

Okay, I thought Gigi was giving me “Beverly Hills, what a thrill” realness. When she first walked out I thought military, but then she ate the cookie and I was like yasssss. Troop BH!
I wished she was carrying an oversized Girl Scout cookie box in the form of a briefcase with the words "Goode Cookies" inscribed on the outside..that would've sold the Troop Beverly Hills connection much quicker...it took me a little longer to connect the dots to TBH until she ate the cookie..I'm former military so i thought it was a militaristic costume at first too.

Why would you judge a look based on hypothetically removing the *main element* of the runway? A lot of looks would be underwhelming if you removed the main component. Why would you only use that logic for 1 queen when plenty of other queens are just wearing a bodysuit under their capes? Also, Aiden really deserved that toot. It's a calm toot, but a toot nonetheless.
Raven's just saying "imagine it without the cape" to emphasize that the "body" of the outfit doesn't look good. Basically she thinks the cape doesn't carry the outfit.

Weird that they said that for only Crystal and not the others. Crystal's boot is still justifiable since her accessories didn't match well and the top part of the jumpsuit was too big (and you can see a lot of wrinkles on it)

A different show, but one with some ideals what I believe should be put into Drag Race. Art is subjective and so opinions are made and held close, and that's okay. You should look objectively to whether they complete what was asked of them. It was a cape runway, so we'd be looking for:
- Cape to be the main focus (Or integral part of the piece)
- A cohesive look relating to the cape
- A polished execution
Jaida - Toot: Cape is the main focus with a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing look with the bodysuit and hair.
Brita - Boot: Cohesive and polished look, but the cape is not the main focus.
Jackie - Toot: Cape is not the main focus, but doesn't seem like an afterthought and instead an essential part of the look. Polished and cohesive.
Jan - Toot: Cape is main focus for inventive concept, polished and cohesive.
Gigi - Toot: Cape is main focus, the look is polished, interesting and very cohesive.
Heidi - Boot: The cape IS the main focus, and there is a sort of cohesion in the look, but it misses the mark in styling and polish, therefor failing to make the look in its end product cohesive.
Crystal - Toot: Cape is main focus and delivers a cohesive and polished look. Her own sort of aesthetic should not matter as long as she meets the criteria.
Aiden - Toot: Cape is not main focus, but an integral part of the look. It's cohesive and polished.
Widow - Boot: Cape is the main focus, but the change in greens and the choice of fabrics make the look lack cohesiveness. Very good concept, poor execution.
Nicki - Boot: She wore a beautiful cloak before she took it off. Her look was extremely cohesive and beautiful. But the cape was not the main focus.
Thank you, this is how you critique. This is coming from an artistic POV also since I am an artist and color blocking and all that is important to me, but I felt Window's look clashed because of the lack of cohesion. My eye didn't go to her cape actually, it went straight to her hair so for me the cape wasn't the main focus at all because my eyes moved from the cap to her chest area when she had that reveal. Normally red and green go together beautifully, but in this case with the lighting and Window's skin tone, it was too much. If there's one thing I've learned from college when it comes to critiques, is that you have to try and stay as objective as possible.
It's funny because OP said "look subjectively" and Zodia said "stay as objective as possible." Now here I am to opine to everyone that objectivity doesn't exist, all beliefs are subjective, in science too but especially art. Crack open a book on post-structuralism and write me 10,000 word essay on it mawma

And you're right in some ways, true objectivity doesn't exist. But, if we do our best to remove biased views and personal aesthetic values, we can better look at the categories that need to be filled. Of course our opinion on whether they completed the task may fall to subjectivity, but ranking on the same rubrik is how to promote fairness. That was my point.

I don't get it. They're judging the look overall, not "what if this element wasn't there". IT IS THERE, so judge the entire look! There have been plenty of looks that wouldn't be as great if they removed the main component of it.

Chris Hepburn i mean not really, if they used the same concept on Aiden as they used on Crystal (how it would look without the cape) Aiden would just have a black velvet body suit that doesn’t fit her right w unnecessary accessories.
