Floor is Floor, a once in a generation phenom. How lucky are we that we know about her and can listen to her voice? She calls herself a "sensitive" who feels the emotions of others. That is why she loves being with people, but is one of those who also needs her quiet time, to recharge.
In an interview her father said that she is highly sensitive, a gift and curse at the same time. She has learned to transform this with her songs but also needs time in a quiet and peaceful surroundings which she has found in Sweden, a small farm at the edge of the forest where she lives together with her husband, her two daughters and a lot of animals, her "Walden".
Floor is an empath and highly sensitive (which is troublesome), but she managed to make it her strength through talent, guts, education, years of hard, hard work and a bit of luck (especially when Nightwish called her to save them at very short notice).
I think they rescued each other. Floor had been struggling herself with what amounted to burnout. I think that is why she is so close to the other band members. Her whole life was turned upside down in a good way with that fateful decision and Nightwish found their final lead!
Emma singing "Strong" to Floor is a must see. It's a song Floor wrote about her mother being in pain but not showing it. Very emotional: czcams.com/video/aCkjtk5tnb0/video.html
Every single song from this particular season of Best Zangers is awesome! I have watched them all numerous times from numerous reactors, and it never gets old
This is the prime example of what Floor does to us - she radiates those emotions, pushing them directly into our minds and hearts... Look at that mama-bear hug she gave Tim after the song :)
Floor is what you call a true empath, highly sensitive. No learned behavior. She feels what other people feel and that's not really always a blessing but often a curse, as she says herself. She can, so to speak, drown in emotions from other people. It's exhausting. But the other side is that she can also radiate that. In this way, she forms a connection with other people. And this woman has an insanely great charisma.
I have a friend who is a highly sensitive woman. She told me what this means, what difficulties can come from this but also what gifts. She herself is a gift for the people she meets but sometimes needs time to be on herself to be not touched too much by the emotions of other people. And I found out it is impossible to lie to her - she at once feels that I am not saying the truth. So I have learned never to lie when talking to her - and I experienced I more and more do this also with other people. This enriches my life in a way I would never have expected before, leaves my emotions and thoughts more clear and honest.
Nice that you found the versions with the intro and outro. That really adds to the experience. From the same show "About love I don't know a thing" that Floor sings for Ruben Annink (the youngest singer) is also heartbreaking.
Oh, four years later the Dutch people know Floor much better, from her solo album Paragon, from her singing some lines in the telephone book during a radio show, and in September 2022 singing the Dutch national anthem with the Royal Airforce Orchestra before the start of the Formula 1 race on Zandvoort.
@@dazjackson1972 It *is* the actor. A damn fine actor he is too. He has also recently turned his hand towards music, but honestly, after seeing the painful rendition of what is, let's face it, a painful anthem, I'm fairly sure I won't be buying any of his music!
YES, check out the OTHER artists on this season!!! His name is Tim Akkerman, he does a cover of "Mr. President" by Pink that's acoustic and a tear jerker which he sung to Samantha!
Actually, every song is worth listening to from the 2019 BZ. Emma is an amazing singer. Rolf too. The duets of Emma with Henk, amazing. Any song involving Floor, amazing. AND the BAND!! They are so damn good that Floor asked them to tour with her. All did except for those who had prior commitments. Imagine having 6 singers present you with 6 songs, each week, played how the vocalist wants to present it. And they nail it...every time. Just so damn good!
For another emotional song, try Floor singing for Ruben (the youngest singer on the panel), About Love I Don't Know A Thing. A song Ruben wrote about his parent's divorce. The link below has the intro and outro interviews with English subtitles (Turn captions on). Enjoy. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️ czcams.com/video/1SyHUrfjeqg/video.html
Floor is such an fascinating person, once she has put her spell on you, you are hooked. There are lots of interviews with her to find on CZcams. Also on her channel she has put many interesting personal insights worth a watch.
This show has such a beautiful format. Singing songs that mean something special to the singers that wrote them. I never get through this song without tears. I know you were pretty close Daniel! “About Love I Don’t Know A Thing” is another emotional song sung beautifully by Floor on the same show.
This song and Floor's performance made me cry. I always loved this song but after hearing the backstory to it the song just hit me emotionally even more than before. 🙂
As you can see from the enthusiastic comments this season of Beste Zangers was really something special with a great many memorable performamces. My personal Top 5 apart from everything Floor sings are Sound of Silence, Henk Vivo per Lei, Henk and Emma Pa Olvidarte, Emma and Rolf Strong, Emma Our decades in the sun, Samantha
I'm so glad you added the story behind this song, it adds so much more, music, text, and emotion wise! a Big Thank You! When she sang, “now raise your hands” i lost it. This song means so much to me because i have a son who’s also a winner!
Floor is an empath and high sensitive, she has spoken to us before about it. She actually can feel others pain and joy, and she can just radiate it out to the listeners.
Very uplifting song (and yes, Floor is an empath). It was so heartwarming to see Henk's face, like a proud father , and Tim was fighting his tears .... Floor's singing and emotion hits you like a cruise missile. Such an emotional song for Tim Akkerman who wrote it for his brother who is in a wheelchair, And Tim actually sunged this song with Floor, on the Live at NOC*NSF award show. The song is on the album Lion's don't cry , but this time the lion did cry , and so did I!!! To hear Floor sing makes us all Winners 🤘🥰🤘. AND, that's why, this song is in my Beste Zangers Collection, and on vinyl NWSU/FloorFan.

Tim Akerman has always been tough and known as someone who doesn't break easily and even said in the beginning that he wasn't going to cry, but wouldn't you know it?.... as he gets up for the hug, he says, "Damn you, Floor.", with tears in his eyes. 😂 😊❤️🤘🤘
Floor is an even better person than she is a singer, as hard as that is for many to understand. I had the great gift of meeting her and briefly talking with her a year ago. She was exhausted after a show but took time to spend with a few people who were outback after the show.

His name is Tim Akkerman. He used to be singer of the band Di-Rect and is now a solo artist. His voice is kinda rough or raw, like Bruce Springsteen. He did a song from Nightwish on the show, it's called Nemo. And yes, the other artists sure are worth to check out. That whole season of the show was great. Samantha Steenwijk also did a song from Nightwish, in Dutch called: Ik ben altijd dicht bij jou. (I'm always close to you). The Floor rabbit hole is deep!

There is one downside to having your song sung by Floor though. All credits to him for writing a beautiful song, but his own version doesn't compare to this. It is certainly a good song, but you shouldn't listen to it with this version in mind. And if youtube is any indication, this version is the first most people heard.

Obviously you now have to (no you MUST) react to Tim Akkerman sing a Nightwish song to Floor. czcams.com/video/N-x5mML-PR8/video.html&ab_channel=FlooropTV
There is one downside to having your song sung by Floor though. All credits to him for writing a beautiful song, but his own version doesn't compare to this. It is certainly a good song, but you shouldn't listen to it with this version in mind. And if youtube is any indication, this version is the first most people heard.
OK men Floor is empathic she cols it her strength and weakness listen her songs on LP paragon
