- I rewatched The Parkers as an adult and I have Opinions now. Please enjoy this montage of their sweet but short-lived moments throughout the show.

I think they wanted to portray a relationship where the man wanted to uphold an image of not liking big boned woman!!! But in reality he fell in love with her the first season, he wanted to keep this image that he could have any woman he wanted but he had to realize that he wasn’t really all that and should be lucky ms. Parker even wanted him!!!💯
This is the point!! All that other non sense these folks talking about is irrelevant. He knew he loved Nikki P!! She always started off so cordial in every situation and then the crazy kicked in!

Exactly and as beautiful as the women were he kept on realizing their character was off putting and wanted these females to be like Nikki...him loosing his job etc allows at times for humility and changing of flaws that hold ppl back in life
The Parkers is funny, but I must be the only person who sees nothing endearing about Nikki and Professor’s relationship. She was constantly made to look desperate and the Professor was made out to be the prize. Then tried to fix it up in the very end by letting him come to his senses and having Nikki leave another man (who was CRAZY about her!)for him. There were cute moments here and there but overall Professor treated her like crap.
Agreed. It played into the narrative that full figured women will do anything and are willing to be treated like shit by a man just to have someone,that she wasn't good enough to be loved. I enjoyed the show but never cared for that aspect of it.
I used to root for them too, but as I grew older, I wish Nikki would have married Johnny. I guess they had to end the show though.

I would have liked to see them as being cool friends instead of her always chasing after him in EVERY FREAKING EPISODE. Maybe start it off as that but Nikki finally realizing that Stanley does not want her. He began being very rude to her trying to put her in jail hell even doing death threats. I also hate that they ended the series with that. She should have not married him and married Johnny. I am not waiting for no man to act right.
I agree seeing them as good friends would’ve been better.
I always liked the episode where she says is this the part where you kick me out and he says not tonight that is really touch me every time

To be honest the Professor only wanted Mrs Parker when someone else wanted her like the episode when Stanley's best friend was chasing after Nikki he started chasing after Nikki remember.

@Imani oh really so that's what it was, you mean like it was with Laura Winslow but later on in the series she had real romantic feelings for Stevie. She couldn't stand him in the Beginning of the show.

The way they acted in the Tae bo episode is the way they should’ve acted the whole series
I thought the professor was very attractive to me 😭 and that episode when they finally had sex was amazing ! If you understand the concept of energy and push and pull you will understand why they professor chased her when she stopped chasing him. Monique didn’t give him any room to properly love her because she thought she had to chase him. Which is not the case, once you let go of the tight hold you have in things give those things the opportunity and space to flow towards you. Which is what exactly happened every time Nikki let go of the professor. He flowed towards her. It wasn’t like the professor didn’t like her which as evident in the first episode he just didn’t like how strong she came off. And that energy is not attractive in any circumstance
Ma'am, we need to pass the offering plate around for you bc you just spoke life!! Im going through this as we speak! I pushed so hard in the begging but when my heart healed and I let go, all of a sudden now that vibe is strong and I'm loving it!!!! I stopped chasing, gave room and space and now it's growing.
I can't believe this doesn't have more views and comments, because I agree with everything about this. Yes I was very, beyond happy they got married in the end, but like you said it was so rushed and horrible. I would have loved to definitely seen their life after the marriage and if he actually still treated her right, if they got a house together, or even had some kids of their own like that one episode where they thought Nikki was pregnant. The ending was just sloppy and trash and I'm so sad that's all we got to them finally being together. All that said I LOVED the drunken kiss and the "damn" that followed out of both of their mouths, plus the freaky sex between them. That was my favorite moment between them. Way better than that ending rushed marriage.
FYI I'm sure a lot of people know already, but at the time I wrote this comment, The Parkers are actually on Netflix. Heeeyyy!!!

That's why I love Season 1 the most. I totally agree with what you said and was just thinking the same thing. Ep. 4 S1 "Taking Tae-Bo With my Beau" is my fave. The Chess/Checkers scene is way too cute.. I do wonder what was going on then that may have caused the rush and for it to go in that direction.
I completely agree with you! That's my favorite episode, too. It gives us a glimpse into what their relationship would have looked like if they ever dated. (And the way he's so enamored by Ms. Parker that he forgets his own girlfriend's name at 6:54. Whew, my heart just cannot take it!)
Regarding the rushed ending, I've been searching for answers but to no avail. The last season is the shortest season--why? Sigh, we may never know.

@@SecretlyPublic Idk if we're reading each other's minds or what. I feel like that one episode was the whole series itself (but better.) Lobe when his mind goes blank on her. It's almost as if he wanted to ask who that was himself. I mean she was just introduced but still the character should know to mention her...which he didn't. But apparently all the neighbors knew Nikki's name. Heeyy. But knowing how Nikki would treat him and take care of him...I just can't help but smh.
I was really happy with 7:07-7:14 because the only times he's ever been embarrassed had to do with Nikki but in this scene it was in a funny and cute way (not the other times when he'd get on her about embarrassing him. We're not even gonna talk about that).
I'll be looking forward to part two if there is one. But this definitely is some great stuff.
I love the tae bo episode and the episode in season 3 where they kiss because he is drunk
I think because the show was ending, and they wanted to give Nikki & Stanley their happily ever after, the writers had to shoehorn Stanley’s realization in. But as you’ve catalogued in your own video, there are certainly moments where we see Stanley, at least in some small way, did in fact have feelings for Nikki. I believe he loved her too, even from the start, and eventually allowed himself to give in to his heart.

I never really liked how they handled this. The professor said in season one that he wasnt interested in her in that way yet they constantly made nikki stalk him. If the situation was reversed and it was the professor stalking nikki then it would be handled alot differently. It's nice they ended up together in the end but even then it still felt a little off

I started watching the Parkers and this storyline is Funny and Annoying because the Professor is not that interesting as a character and he doesn’t deserve to be with Nikki I don’t understand why the writers had her chase this dude for 5 straight seasons he told her plenty of times he wasn’t interested and the writers tell had her chase him around it makes me irritated 😤 He loved that she chased him around knowing he was never going to give her a chance it’s just because she was bigger doesn’t mean she had to chase him it made her look desperate and really insecure about herself The Professor was nice in the season 1 but after season 1 he was a total Jerk towards Nikki

In a weird way Mrs. Parker reminds me of khadija.. I never found out her last name before she got into a current relationship with relationship with I don't know exactly who but I'm glad she isn't she's in a relationship now.. I got sick of her weird obsession with me.
