They Shall Take Up Serpents

- This video has to do with Christian worshipers whose very dangerous church services involve handling poisonous snakes.
They believe to the letter a verse found only in the King James Bible: “They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” - Mark 16:18.
I was recently able to get a good copy of this series which I cut for KDKA-TV News in Pittsburgh. There are three episodes which played on consecutive nights beginning on November 11th, 1984.
I doubt that anyone remembers this series, but I was quite proud of it at the time.
The reporter was Kevin Roberts and the photographer was Tom Rutkowski.
My pastor attended this church just this year. Two people were bitten that night. Both of them walked out of that church healed! The Holy Spirit imparts His Wisdom and healing! Praise Jesus Divine King Of All Kings Eternal!
What these people seem to understand that many Christians seem to fear is that we can’t get into heaven while we are still on this earth. They have full faith in where their eternity will be. Respect.

My dad and mom were serpent handling holiness Dad passed at 80and momma at 81 and what the most people don't know is there is a spirit (annointing) to do that with and if the lord don't annoint you stay away from them. From my own experience with this the hedge has to be broken before the serpents can bite God will not permit it to bite read in the Bible when Israel went to war God fought for them they never lost a battle until sin was in the camp if you can understand that you are doing well.if you need more understanding text me but if you want to argue please leave it alone for your sake gods words are true and holy
Most people think you just go pick up a rattlesnake in yourself. Some people may do that but that’s not how it should be. theirs something that will tell a man to take one up and they’ll be no harm

I myself chose not to take up serpants, But I respect these Faithful followers, of God and I would defend their right to Worship God in the way they believe. God Bless us all.

That part is Bull in the Bible anyway because I'm a Christian and I had to get a snake out of my mother's closet and it bit me!! I had nothing to kill it with! Just my bare hands,. I used to believe every word of the Bible, but that's one part I will not ever believe again!! You can pick up serpents my ass!!
Agreed! When Jesus said what he did, about "Taking up Serpents", he wasn't saying "Go play with Snakes". The phraseology that he used, was a play on words, which means that he will give you power over the enemy (The Devil), and that you'll be able to take on the Devil, and send him scurrying for cover, whenever he hears the Mighty name of Jesus Christ!
However, back over a Century ago, some dummy mis-quoted Scripture, and thought that it meant to handle Poisonous Vipers. He began to practice this himself, then he made a "Doctrine" out of it...and then, at some point, whether it was him, or somebody else, added the drinking of poison, and the handling of fire, to their Core "Religious" belief system....
And this is the direct result of it! Many people are dead because of either Snake Handling, or of drinking poison.
Whoever invented this monstrosity, is going to have to stand before Almighty God, and give an account for creating this false "Gospel", & for the people that died, following his direct command to take their own lives into their own hands!
