This changes the game for me. This pushes it over the edge to being easy and seamless enough that I know I'm going to be making more sentence cards now. You have contributed more things of substance to the language learning community than anyone else I know of. Thanks for everything!
Combining this with AniMelon's video player that has time stamps for every line of audio is going to be very effective I bet. Up til now I haven't been using audio on my cards at all just because it seemed like too much of a pain in the ass, but now I think I'll definitely start doing it a lot more. Thanks for passing this along.
I have to admit. This video completely changed the way I approach language learning. I got tired of (and conditioned into) listening to the same 5 people on Forvo for each new word / expression I saw on my cards, but using ShareX forces you to recognise them in different circumstances. Can't believe it took me this long to use it !
I've come back to this several times each time I touch a new computer. Thank you. Maybe in the future when things get updated for ShareX, might upload an updated version. :D
Please never delete this lol. I've reintsalled ShareX a few times over the past 5 yrs and have came back to this vid at least 3 times for setting it back up again. I use this for music production as well.
just incase anyone else runs into this problem -DON'T download off of Microsoft store it doesn't have the install recorder button at all. Just download it directly from it's online site. hope this is helpful.
@Matt VS Japan I like this method, it's crazy fast! Just thought I'd add a method I found to record any audio from my pc without downloading anything additional outside of Audacity. 👇 I wanted to download T. House audio so that I can put some Japanese audio with my Anki cards now that NF is awesome enough to include Japanese subtitles for many shows in America now. I found other methods complicated and didn't like the uploading processes, etc and didn't like needing too many apps for my studies. I had already downloaded Audacity, it's free and extremely useful, even a necessity, for our language study needs. In my search I found that I can use Audacity to listen to the audio playing on my laptop (with or without headphones) and record it. Now I can watch my shows and record the audio without doing any more than adjusting a small setting and hitting record. The file is clear and in mp3 format. Plus when you're done you can go back and edit, cut and save audio as needed. Keep this program open in the background and record whenever needed. You don't even have to record full (minutes / hours worth of) audio just pause, go cut out what you need and continue. I imagine I can record ANY audio coming through my laptop's speakers; podcast, online radio, audio books, etc, but I haven't tested it. Hope this helps also. 🙏🏽 Directions to do this is taken from www.howtogeek.com/217348/how-to-record-the-sound-coming-from-your-pc-even-without-stereo-mix/ From their site Audacity has a useful feature that can record the audio coming out of your computer... In Audacity, choose the “Windows WASAPI” audio host, and then choose an appropriate loopback device, such as “Speakers (loopback)” or “Headphones (loopback).” Click the Record button to start recording the audio in Audacity, and then click Stop when you’re done. Because you’re using Audacity, you can easily trim and edit the sound file when you’re done. Audacity’s tutorial website explains why this feature is actually better than Stereo Mix: “WASAPI loopback has an advantage over stereo mix or similar inputs provided by the soundcard that the capture is entirely digital (rather than converting to analog for playback, then back to digital when Audacity receives it). System sounds playing through the device selected for WASAPI loopback are still captured, however.” In other words, your recorded sound file will be higher-quality when using Audacity’s WASAPI loopback option. a method
Thank you i think i am gonna use it since i faced troubles with this video, a black screen appeared and audacity seems fine i gave it a try, it gets the job done tho share x seems easier . Thank you again
if you can't see 2:38 screen records options before click "override capture settings" and try again. for "override capture settings" go to hotkey settings and click add and edit/capture. finally, don't forget "install recorder devices". that's it.
hey! once i have added he audio to the Anki card, I can delete the audio file from my desktop and it will still play when i come to it in the Anki deck in the future, right?
Has anyone else had an issue with ShareX lately where it delays starting recording for like 3 seconds before starting? Has really slowed down the pace of card creation for me lately. If there's a fix, or an alternative program to use, please let me know!
Shouldn't we have it saved directly into Anki's media folder? Lets say we delete the audio file from our desktop after a while, what happens to the card? does anki created a copy in the media folder automatically from the beginning? or will it not fild the file? (thus the card wont work) EDIT: just realized it probably isnt a bad idea anyway to auto save in the anki media folder since the program has a super convenient way of managing the files it created. This program is so customize-able its awesome!!
That's unnecessary, because whenever you import media into an Anki card, Anki automatically creates a new copy of the file and sticks it in the media folder
Unfortunately, I was unable to follow along, as the interface of the software has changed. I was able to follow along up to 2:37 - but after that I can't get any further.
This is probably my third time watching this video lol. Don't you ever delete it. For those like myself who couldn't find the download button: I simply ignored this step and clicked to install the recording devices. Working fine so far!

Thanks! Straight to the information as always. :)
Thanks, Matt, this makes it soooo much easier to create cards whenever you want to include audio. Much appreciated.
I've been using this a lot over the past few days. Thanks for stepping my game up once again.
Great video, straight to the point as always! Thanks, Matt!
This just helped me sooo much man, couldn't figure out why audio wasn't picking up for me and it was a simple solution I overlooked

Thank you so much. None of the video mention this important detail.
It's really useful
thanks!!
Thank you so much!!!
this is fucking amazing and i love you
Thanks Matt! Below comments below helped me learn if you are on Mac (cause you can't use ShareX) then you can use Knowclip which is also good.
You’re a life saver!
Thank you so much.
Thank you sir
Working thank you ♥
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
It will help me for sure, thank you for this video :p

I could see myself getting a lot more use out of this for visual novels and games that have a subtitle option.
Top tier guide.

sweeeeeeet, yeah man, this is some good stuff right here.
Thanks!
Thank you, now i can create more comprehensible flashcards for anki!
awesome bro
i cant see the download button in the Screen Recording options, helppp
@boffy2648 Were you guys able to find a solution? TT
I use the Anki add-on AwesomeTTS to put audio on my cards. Works in batches too, in case anyone is interested
That is great, it isn’t a real person speaking though, right? Just tts
I was tired of hear anki's robot audio that way yours is more natural, really thanks for the video.
Audio worked! is Netflix blocking the screen capture though? Just getting a black screen.
Extremely useful tool. Thanks a lot for sharing. Between us, where can we get the NHK 日本語発音アクセント辞典?
Perfect
I want the audio and video captured together when I am screen recording a game with sound.
Did u found solution?
@@charlesjsescoto you just need to go to "video source" and instead of putting it to "none" you put it to "screen-capture-recorder".
i use all settings as yours, but i cannot in same time record sound from windows and my mic ...any help ?
thanks Matt... I am trying to record video and audio together..?
Do you still use Qolibri today even after creating the MIA Dictionary add-on for looking things up in general?

The > instal recorder devices < button is missing here. Helpppp ;((((
What is that software you are using to save it? I was thinking of doing an AHK thing
It doesn't show any available audio sources for me.
спасибо большое, очень полезно. до этого момента, у меня практически не было звука с моими картами. я использовал только слова с цветами.
Thanks!
Is there anything similar to ShareX for Linux?
do you need too keep the mp3 files on your computer once pasted onto a card?
ありがとうごさいます。
Is there anyway to do this on iPad?
I'd like to know if there's a method like this just for android
Game changer
On my sharex I don't have install recorder devices
Can I add audio to my grammar and mining sentence cards?
which card type is he using??
I'm glad that you finally got Windows 10
Why are you glad? I only got it because my old computer broke so I was basically forced to. I think Windows 7 was way better
Oh man, that is going to save me so much time..
You could also use No23 Recorder ( www.no23.de/no23web/default.aspx ) It's way smaller and simpler to setup. Unfortunately the webpage is in German
Has anyone else had an issue with ShareX lately where it delays starting recording for like 3 seconds before starting? Has really slowed down the pace of card creation for me lately.
If there's a fix, or an alternative program to use, please let me know!
if i delete the audio from the desktop after i make the flashcard will the audio still play when i see the flashcard later?

@@mattvsjapan Oh. thank you. I suspected that it was the case but wasn't sure.

Please show me how to download NHK dictionary

Can you add microphone voice to virtual-audio-recorder. I wanna hear my own voice too but computer audio sounds really shity with microphone
2018 Matt 😭😭😭
what is the use of doing this ?( I'm new to language learning )
Please zoom the screen for the people watching youtube with their smartphones. I can't recognize the letters in this video even at the landscape mode.
5 years after, and we still don't have anything comparable on mac. everything is so fiddly..
having a bit of trouble since the applications are a bit different 5 years later
Would you recommend doing the tango n3 book or just N5 and N4? Thanks :)
On his website I think he said only N5 and N4 :)

@@Makiaveliiste I am almost done with japanese now.
video starts at 1:25
The interface is completely different now. Has anyone find the Download button on the Screen Recorder options? 3:16 Please help.
I'm having the same problem. Did you find any solution to it?
cant find the install recorder devices, it showses up for a sec and disappears
anyone experience this?
Is there an alternative for Mac users?
try Piezo if you haven't already. It works pretty nicely and it's free. Hope this helps!
Has anyone tried the ResetEz addon on Anki 2.1? It doesn't work for me on the 2.1 version
You can have both versions of Anki installed at the same time. Just use ResetEz in the old Anki and sync your deck. That's what I did.
Wait what's that program he's using to make those audio shortcuts where he pasts the audio file in near the end?
ShareX lol
@@mattvsjapan If that is a part of shareX i couldn't tell as it's in japanese and i don't know where to find that audio shortcuts to add to buttons
sharex is king
