OI YOU GOT A LICENSE FOR THAT?!
the least threatening roman soldier in the empire
He should be retired on his farmland in Gaul by now lol.
Q: So what's that sword for?
A: It's a stabbing sword.
Q: And this?
A: Stabbing
Q: And your spear.
A: Stabbing
Hmmm. I think there's something going on with the Romans and stabbing.
They liked it so much that they tried that on Julius Caesar
Apparently some like to stab someone's wife from the back as well.
No there's something with the Brits and stabbing.
wrong, the spear is for throwing
@@M-Rayan. It flies and then it stabbing
Next: How to dress like a Viking
He's awfully gentlemanly for a Roman soldier
It'd be cool to go through different cultures with this 👌🏾
Great idea! I love learning of ancient ways of all different cultures. 💖
Definitely cool to see how other cultures dressed for war, especially it being realistic and not just a historian guessing. Good idea 👏🏻

"The romans dress in _metal!_ "
But.. chainmaile was invented by the _gauls!_
The romans themselves have described trade going on between britain and north of france/gaul.
There is NO WAY the britons didn't know what chainmaile or metal armour was! -__-
did i just go off on a tangent? oh dear!
No trousers as well in our climate? Dear God...the midges!! Nice video.
In AD 393 the Emperor Theodosius 1 exiled men in pants and confiscated their property. Today psychiatry is the Emperor and any man in a skirt, no matter how tame, they will exile with their hokey contrived slander terms that are an affront to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 , to the Equal Protection clause of the 14th Amendment, and to decency, reciprocity, fairplay, individuality, and against civilization itself. All psychiatry should be aggressively legislated against and the response to this faction should be "leave us alone---can't you see we're busy?"
Title should of been "bunch of lads playing dress up"
But a Saudi wearing traditional Muslim clothes is not?
Amazing
These gents are too wholesome
Wow.. Looks good on him
You forgot to give him smallpox scabs
Tyler McDaniel Oh dear!!

Awesome! Looks legit
That why hero wear cape haah,?
Hello
Pretty sure they wore metal body armor like in the movies and video games
The Roman empire existed for over a thousand years, and their legionaries changed appearances over time. I think you're referring to the Lorica Segmata, which was popular during the Pax Romana era. But in other times they switched to mail or other things for various reasons
Chain mail is made of iron.
Contrary to popular imagination they wore several armour types together. That over-prapagated type of armour you have on mind(modernly called most often as "Lorica Segmentata")was just one of possibilities to wear and compared to other armour types it had pretty short life of usage.
ERR yeah but its like what
Wowwwwww
They wear Versace suits now...
Is Versace cheap in modern Rome territory known as Italy? Because I sure can't afford one outside of Italy lol
William Wallace you’re not Roman enough then my English friend.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war
Julius Caesar Act whatever, Schene I don't know.
Hey my sister called, she said she wants her skirt back hehe
Woderick!
Oiiiiii
Since when did Roman soldiers shave their arms
😮👌👍
We are use to the typical Hollywood warrior look from the movies.
It's actually pretty accurate.
Not very practical in cold countries like Britian.
Pretty sure the Britons invented chain mail....
"The Romans used three types of body armour: a hooped arrangement called lorica segmentata; scaled metal plates called lorica squamata, and chain mail or lorica hamata. Mail was durable and was used almost throughout Roman history."
@JD , the Romans were the original Borg! :-)
@@Bronwyn031 By the way none of those terms are Roman. They were all put together modernly by using latin but how Romans themselvs really called it is not known. The only exception is a chainmaile which one author very clearly calls as "Gallica" therefore even more reinforcing idea of Celts as its original inventors.Apart from these 3 most commonly used armour types Romans also knew and used few others.
btw could you heart my comment? or pin it you dont have to
since when did roman soldiers hire from retirement homes
Sexy attire😊......now .bring on the men in kilts🌸
First
Despite everything, they were defeated by Islamic armies
In completely different times, conditions and circumstancies(and not with this army) and yet despite facing overwhelming numerical superiority of Islamic world they still managed to survive until for another 1000 year while several muslim states(and empires) ceased to exist in the meantime.
Cultural appropriation!!!!

This is incorrect and rather misleading, most low-ranking Roman Legionnaires who made up most of the Roman military power, actually wore mostly leather, even most helmets were leather, it wasn’t rare to see a legionnaire with a metal helmet, but it was uncommon. The visualisation that all Roman soldiers wore red is also incorrect, most paintings dated from the Ist to IInd century, CE, depict Roman Legionnaires and even Centurions wearing tunics, capes and robes of wool which had not been dyed, in other words, white tunics. Yes, Romans wore red, this is undoubtedly true, but it was actually quite uncommon. Don’t be fooled by this “Once upon a time, all Romans wore red” tale.
Where is your source for leather being dominant i would like to read it - Lorica Hamata seemed to be the dominant armour from what ive seen
@@romainvicta3076, I remember reading about it in one of my old history books, I’ll try and dig it out for you and tell you what it’s called and the author. I’m not referring to the whole of the Roman Army here, though, I’m referring of troops of lower “importance” very low ranking legionnaires or auxiliary/secondary troops. Obviously there is no physical evidence of the this existing, because leather can not last this long. There are depictions of it in historical art pieces, it looked very similar to the lorica segmentata, to me, it looked like strips of leather that were used on the iron lorica segmentata but instead of being attached to iron segments, they were sewn into either leather segments or a one?-piece hand-crafted leather tunic.
it is true that some soldiers didn't wear all red but the leather armor you just made that up
