  • On June 18, 2024, at the Salvation Army International office in New York City, Arigatou International - Prayer and Action for Children and United Women in Faith commemorated the International Day of the African Child with the support of our colleagues and many partners such as the Global Network of Religions for Children, UNICEF, Children's Defense Fund, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Arigatou International - Ending Child Poverty, the Temple Israel of Lawrence NY, GNRC Committee Coordinator for Mobilization of Networks - LAC Region, World Yoga Community, Buddha's Light International Association, Manhattan Sikh Association, African Methodist Episcopal Church, Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference, The Salvation Army International Social Justice Commission, Latter-Day Saints Charities Representative at the United Nations.
    Their participation and contributions were instrumental in making the gathering spiritual and meaningful. The insights and perspectives shared by esteemed faith leaders during the event will be deeply valued in our collective endeavor to remember and honor the children who stood up for their rights in Soweto years ago. We want to thank everyone for their continued advocacy and commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of the African Child and all children worldwide. We were truly inspired by your words and very grateful for your actions.

    It was a pleasure to have been part of such an auspicious day filming and leaning in for conversation and prayer focused not just on the commemoration of the Day of the African Child but of all of the children of mother Africa and beyond. Bravo Rev. Dionne Boissière, Rebeca Rios Kohn and Alibe Hamacher for organizing this meaningful and thoughtful day.
