Well... that sounded... great! Thought it might be a little thin without keyboards, but I didn't miss them. That fast, alternate-picking, string-jumping part seems like it would be tough to play cleanly for so long. Super work all!
Our guitarist Jordan likes to think of himself as the keyboardist of the band. He lets ryan take care of the rhythm and fills in the empty space with weird sound effects.
And as for the string skipping, luckily, once the distortion kicks in it all becomes white noise. You just gotta worry about it sounding clean when it’s by itself, but once it gets going, there’s so much else happening!

Thank you for the excellent comment. An artist is always critiqued on tone and notes, but rarely on energy. We’ve been a band for some 10 years now, and the ability that we were able to come together during a pandemic to cover one of our favorite bands is not something we take lightly. It was a special moment for us, and we’re glad that came across in the final product.

I'm a cynical bastard but that was a really nice effort. I enjoyed it most past the 4:00 mark and in the parts where you strayed away slightly from the original material. The part kicking at 4:46 for example, the guitar "keyboard", the drumpart at 5:15 etc.
You shouldn't be afraid to be MORE different to the original. I noticed Open Car in your channel too........next time my suggestion is, since you are metal, if you ever do a PT cover again......take a Stupid Dream/Lightbulb Sun era song and make it metal, rather than doing In Absentia/Deadwing/FOABP/Incident. That'd be much more fun imo. Take care.
For a cynical bastard, we appreciate your points. We’ve been a band that has struggled to agree on cover songs in the past. We’re hoping to change that soon and knock them out at a more rapid pace. Hopefully by doing so, we can experiment with them and continue to find new ways to have fun with them, such as adding the live keyboard solo section in our Open Car cover. Gonna take a break from PT in the meantime, but hopefully we return to it with the experience we get from the upcoming covers. Hope you continue checking them out!
