Minimalism is on the rise. I'm happy for you that you have found this. We will never know just what we need until we have discovered what we can live without. My wife and I are doing the same thing. Although we won't go as minimalist as you are going we plan to only keep what things we use weekly.

I hope you're ok char, you seem quite sad in this video and I know possessions mean nothing at the end of the day but if it's things you use and love as you say then don't feel guilty about keeping them! It's nice to surround yourself with things that give you pleasure. All the love x
I also felt that something was a bit wrong-feeling. I'm not as familiar with her as many of you but somehow it felt like someone who was justifying something she didn't really want to be doing. I hope that I'm wrong.
Rachel Reid I felt that it was a little sadness behind talking about the items that she feels she doesn't need anymore, especially her box of things that are sentimental in which means something to her,
also when she said she doesn't need a bed, I mean every person needs a bed to lay their head on, she's giving away a book that was signed pacifically with her name, although she's smiling I just get a feeling that something isn't quite right, I felt a lot of sadness.....yes it's great to declutter but she doesn't have a lot of clutter of things. I hope she is in a happy space or find the happiness she's in search of....My gut is telling me something is not right. I wish her nothing but the best❤

And she stated that she doesn't need a bed for where she's going but where are you going???... hmmm, I pay attention to choice words ppl use, that statement concerns me.

I look up to you for minimalizing as much as you had so far in this video. I have been minimalizing for over a year and I still have a whole house filled with stuff. I feel like I found this particular video at the right time. I'm moving into my space and was telling myself "I need this..and this...I should buy this.." when really I don't. I need to embrace the things that truly matter to me and not be so materialistic. Thank you for such a lovely video

You know, one of the nice things about Charlotte's channel in particular is the environment produced by its users where (almost) everyone generally acts in good faith, which in turn allows Charlotte to be very real with her audience and discuss a variety of human interest topics in addition to ASMR and sleep science, including her personal experiences with these issues. Thus she - usually - creates a dynamic space which makes her content so much larger than autonomous sensory meridian response, pioneering the developing nature of CZcams ASMR vlogs in the process.
Of course, for Charlotte's one-way conversations to be at all meaningful for her audience, she must be very vulnerable with the infamously-spiteful "internet," or rather the collective mass of individuals communicating over it anonymously. In fact, the more meaningful her human interest content is, the more vulnerable Charlotte must make herself. Her vlog journaling her life is thus a relationship postulated on, fueled by, and maintained with trust.
This reality is a disappointing caveat to the unexplored facets of the continuously-evolving cultural and social applications of the internet which otherwise inspire so much optimism, because just one spiteful perfidy among nine hundred ninety-nine constructive communications can have an outsized chilling effect on a content creator's enthusiasm for volunteering accounts of one's personal experiences with human interest issues. As human society in the developed world leaves behind more and more of the material ills that plagued the lives of its progenitors, it simultaneously acquires more and more spiritual diseases that are exacerbated by ever-increasing social isolation. This is indeed why CZcams is the only social medium whose use has been clinically shown to have a net positive effect on its users' mental well-being. The testimony of at-risk individuals on their emotional and even mental reliance on the relief from the emotional, mental, and psychological effects of social isolation provided by candid vlogs such as Charlotte's are frightening not because it is melodramatic, but precisely because it is so simplistic: the intimate relation included in these vlogs is very often one of the only lifelines that manages to make these individuals' existences tolerable. Thus the negative impact made by spiteful engagement of a human interest content creator can be quite significant for more persons than just the content creator, though of course spiteful engagement of a content creator always negatively impacts all of the content's users.
This is precisely why I am so appreciative of you being so raw and speaking unfiltered against condescending innuendo, which is all too often overlooked. I have, it happens, just one complaint: you were clearly very angry when you wrote your post. What reason was there to be so angry? And I could clearly tell that you were, indeed, angry at the time, so don't be a bitch about it and "correct" me.

Char I just cleaned out my room yesterday!! It's a great feeling. I still live with my parents and my sister has always had a bigger room, but I love mine! It's my saving grace.😊💙 I don't need much either, it's good to take advantage of the little things that make you happy! Hopefully I can move out soon though, lol. Privacy is a wonderful thing. I grew up poor and have since struggled to be self-employed, so I've always had a penchant for holding onto things, "just in case". This has worked out in my favor but also leaves me loathing the clutter. Occasionally I need a kick in the butt to inspire me to gather up donations and throw out less useful stuff, and I think this video has succeeded in rekindling that feeling again. It's definitely got me thinking about what I really still need.

Questioning what we "really need" seems like something that can get out of hand. Denying ourselves what we loved & lived with & what those we love have given us, in a sense, can be denying or erasing parts of ourselves & our lives. It's particularly insidious if we do it because of what others think about what we ought to need or ought to have.
What we "really need" is next to nothing beyond mere survival tools; everything else is about making life better. If something merely makes life more comfortable, that's more than minimal living. There are folks who really know what it is to minimize down to exactly only what one needs. They are called homeless. Everything they need fits in a old shopping cart. Not all of them are happy.
I hope Char is doing this because it's really her own idea & it's her own heart's desire. Her little apartment didn't have such a great deal of clutter that it's clear she had an overabundance of stuff. She seems sad to be discarding some of those things. Some things represent our life & our work & when they're gone all we have left is memory. I like Char. I hope this makes her happy & she won't regret it someday.
