3rd comment sorry 💀😭 I just had to address snap oversteer… I’m about to let you know the secret to never experience it. Pick your speed BEFORE turning. Basically lifting off throttle or hitting the brakes hard while turning causes it to snap. If u slow down before turning THEN go ON throttle, you’ll b fine and have fun
Mr2 is one of my favorite cars. The sw20 is the best mr2 for straight line speed because the 3sgte can handle a ton of power (4 cylinder 2j) but the zzw30 is the best chassis. A 200 hp mr2 spyder with minimal mods beat a 400 hp s2000 along side gtrs and rx7’s. Awesome handling car with amazing potential (that and the first gen Imprezas are my dream builds)

But idk the sounder seems cool and it’s really underrated idk tho the looks of the sw20 just looks way better . But the softer is more newrrr and less parts to relate since it’s not as old

Hey I love this series alot, it's really informative! Do you think there can be another Good Bad Ugly for the MR2 Spyder? I'm aware it updates alot from the sw20, so I'm curious about the difference
In 1993 they upgrade the suspension to reduce a lot the snap oversteer😛
These mr2’s become awesome cars when you throw a 2GR in em. the sound is incredible!

There was a version with a sunroof aswell. Might have been for europe/asia only. The snap oversteer only occurs if you brake hard while cornering at high speed, its because the brake bias is close to 50/50. After running touge and autocross with both a stock 1991 NA and a close to stock 1994 turbo i could say ive never had any issues with snap oversteer
They don't suffer snap over steer. They suffer lift-off oversteer which is very easy to control. If you try and control lift-off oversteer like you would snap oversteer you are really screwed and a tree will have your name on it. Toyota did address this in the 93+ models with updates to the rear suspension, change to sway bars, stiffeners added to the rear shock towers plus a few other things. This in my opinion dulled the feeling of the car and I prefer the pre update.
Visibility is very good in them though the back window and rear side glass. Being a Toyota they are very reliable with the biggest gripe being oil leaks - rear seal and valve cover. Generally due to poor maintenance of the motor. They also can leak water around the seals in the T-top version.
I am not sure what you mean about the cheap plastic interior. Most of the interior is soft touch with only hard plastic around the centre stack and under the dash. Overall the interiors hold up well for their age.
Really suggest you find someone that owns one and will let you take it for a extended drive.
I have a first generation (AW11) and I can say is one of the funniest thing to drive

There's more than 2 body styles, three actually. The trim options are hardtop, t-top, and sunroof. Trust me, I own a numbers matching sunroof model. A 91 MR2 Turbo with a sunroof and fog light delete to be exact. All of the options match the VIN.
Also, the snap over steer people experience is over stated. It only happens if you try to drive it like a front engine car. The MR2 SW20 out handles just about every car in it's class except for the Miata.

Timing belt bro... change it asap if it has not been changed, they are interference engines therefore if it snaps you will need to take off the heads and throw in new valves. Basically a crap ton of money
