The scary part about the location is the calmness and how it doesn’t look like a place where somebody would drown.
It looks so eerily calm.
Well done, Noz, and thank you. I have tried to make this pilgrimage myself when I travel to Memphis but not a lot of info out there to assist. Would also be interested in seeing where he washed up, as well. It is without question that (like Nick Drake) his legacy grows stronger with every year that passes.
Man I discovered his music 3 years ago and never stopped listening to him everyday ever since. I relate to his art so much and It hurts so much knowing there will never be anyone like him ever again. He died before I was born but I still feel his loss so deeply it physically hurts. Still with his such short span of life he managed to change my outlook on life forever. Didn't even know music could have such profound effect on a person's life before discovering his art.
thanks for the video! apparently it was just underneath the monorail where he went swimming. water looks so calm and inviting...
It’s amazing how much you know about music. If you read the lyrics of “Grace” he talks about dying and “drowning”.
Hey, right after you pulled out on Madison Avenue at Kwik Chek you got a shot of Ardent Studios. That place is synonymous with the music of Big Star. Jeff recorded a version of their song Kangaroo before the release of Grace and played it live with his band on tour. I'm sure at some point he got to check that place out
Thank you very much for this journey through the places that Jeff has prevented in recent months, so that we can feel these moments even more and see what has surrounded him lately. By the way, in the Memphis Park, which Jeff Buckley liked to visit, there are 2 commemorative plaques that his mother installed. He loved to visit this park and even wanted to get a job there as a volunteer caretaker. I think it would be a good idea to show this place in a video someday!
This is brilliant
Thank you. It’s as close as I’ll ever get to going to his funeral…
How very sad, that tragic way to end when he had so many good things ahead of him. Memphis looks very nice. Salutations from France, where Jeff was adored.
Great video. Details I'd never heard before, like where he hung out.
Thanks for the visual journey taking us through the sights & route Jeff most likely took. Gutted for you that you never took in one of those Barrister shows 😑I managed to catch him live twice over here in the UK around Aug '94 when Grace was released. I was 27yrs old at the time and still, as a now 55yr old, no singer/artist has ever resonated with me before or since like Jeff did. I was devastated reading of his disappearance and subsequent death in the UK music press at the time [pre internet days for me] 😮💨 A truly special talent 🙏
Thank you very much for this video! It's very informative, and the image quality is great! I love Jeff Buckley; his music is very transcendental, and so is his voice. The first time I listened to his music, I cried with emotion. I listen to his music every day ever since! I just hope one day I can travel to Memphis and visit his house, plus the Memphis Zoo, and pay my respects there.
Thank you for the narrative you provided along with this video. Much appreciated <3
Hello.
As a Memphis resident I've went to the welcome center and been around that area and Mud Island and never even knew I was walking around the site Buckley Drowned at. I'm a huge fan of his music and I'm planning to visit the site. I know this city like that the back of my hand but I've never seen this eerily hidden spot.
Nice video, to be more precise It happened under the monorail bridge, it is indicated by the testimony of Keith Foti.
Thanks man. 🙏
Sooo sadd .. he was talented .. loved grace album .. gone waaay too soon
