This cutscene animation cinematics is taken from the Archon Quest Chapter IV: Act V or Part 5 titled "Masquerade of the Guilty" where Focalors bids farewell to Neuvillette in a dramatic fashion - dancing while getting destroyed by the Oratrice Mechanique which stored a lot of Indemnitium energy. Recorded in HD quality and English VA, this clip reveals Focalor's real goal and Neuvillette's role in her plan. She also gave a new goal for Furina in the end.

The judgement on Furina is like Marie Antoinette too. She's pictured to be an overly excessive and flamboyant leader but was actually just a scapegoat. "Let them eat cake," she said and was executed. Furina and Focalors tbh

But yeah, the scene is a reference of Marie's trial and her execution.
Focalors has indeed shown us what it means to be the God of Justice. From returning the stolen power by celestia back to the sovereigns, accepting judgement for Egeria and Fontaine’s original sin, and self punishment for deceiving everyone & making Furina miserable. Bring just not only to others but also to self.

Because both were dead during those cutscenes while Focalor is still alive hence an in game model for her.
Because Makoto was already dead. Rukhadevata had one, she became small and looked similar to Nahida before she was erased.

Celestia did so many bad things to everyone, Neuvillette probably understood by now that each Archon also have their own part of story so he want to "see and judge" them first.

For Geo archon he had a firm voice talking about judging him for winning the Geo authority, but we (traveller and paimon) need not to worry because he has no intention of leaving Fontaine for the next hundred of years (which means he is like holding himself not to see the Geo archon.) For Anemo and Electro, he was shock to learn that Venti is now a drunkard and Ei is on isolation. For Dendro, he commend Nahida’s commitment for her people but also he felt pity for her because of the mistreatment Nahida received from her people for the last 500 years.

Can we acknowledge how smart Focalors was?? Literally she had to respond for Egerias' crimes (figuratively since she didnt really do anything wrong) while being just another oceanid (Kinda like Furina had to act the archon role for 500 years while only being a human) and had to outsmart not only Celestia but literal fate itself in order to save her nation. This woman nailed the plan perfectly.

with the reveal that the Gnoses came from the remains of the 3rd Descender..my personal theory is that the Heavenly Priciples might be aware of the Tsaritsa's plans of collecting the Gnoses and using them against her... that's probably why she awakened the MC to regain the elemental powers and use the MC to create a new set of Gnoses.... just a guess

At least Focalors was totally different from the previous archon. But once again we got strike with 2 beings that were really close with each other, having to take part aways to solve an issue.
At least the consequence here was bigger since the archon vanished her seat, so they are now 6 archons and one sovereign dragon.

I just binged act 5 and Furina's story quest. My heart can't take anymore.
If the character demo is anything to go by, Furina will still be loved on equal status at the minimum. In the story quest, the people of Poisson understood that events played out all in order to restore Neuvilette' full Hydro power so he can turn all Fontainians into true humans and save them. This only happened because Furina and Focalors worked separately to tease the pieces into place. Otherwise, without Neuvilette, Fontaine would have been doomed because they couldn't do anything about the All-Devouring Narwhal at the time that caused the sea water to rise uncontrollably.

Been loving the archon quests a lot since Sumeru. That part when Furina broke and started crying during the trial was one of the saddest moments in the archon quest especially after knowing the context behind her actions 😭

I just realised that that wasn’t her future self crying from the loneliness of being left alone on her throne after failing to save her people. She was actually crying real-time from the loneliness of having to continuously act as a god that everyone wants for 500 effing years with no rest and no one to confide to. This poor baby was so exhausted I actually bawled more than I did during Nahida’s farewell to Rukkha. Furina have turned human now. But she’d always be an Archon in my heart 😭😭😭

@@Drakenlord Eh, depends on your perspective. Right now, the story is prepping us to see Celestia as an evil entity because of the Cataclysm event. And we also saw how the ancient dragons like Apep and Azhdaha (maybe) aren't magnanimous, compared to Neuvilette today. Focalors' used Neuvilette to turn him toward humanity's side so he would save Fontaine, rather than judge them to extinction due to the prophecy. Whether you want to say "rightfully returned" is a matter of perspective.
Would we allow a tyrant to retain power or is it just to ensure that power is taken by people who will do better with it. And who decides what's "better". It sets up the idea that there's a gray chapter in this whole event because everything is stemming from the Ancient World. One wonders what the Heavenly Principles really is.

Does that mean Futuna’s Oisa side represents the divinity of focalors while the pneuma side represents the humanity of furina, just how the oisa side does all the damage and the pneuma side can’t do anything but heal?
Its the other way around. The Pneuma one is the white attire, that uses Furina to act as a God.

I like to think that as I was thinking about her design through the video. Her god form is white and has white ponytails yet there is always a faint glow to her ponytails which represents her god form and her normal form I think has a bit of the hint of the godhood as in the light blue in the back representing the (Hydro dragon/ and or her glowing part of her pigtails.) Meaning she is no longer in control of the power along with her ponytails being gone.
Probably the first quest I’ve almost went to tears for. What a beautiful yet tragic end to an archon. And she gave us feet for free. 100/10

Phenomenal Archon quest. Focalors the only other Archon I love after Zhongli. Neuvillete's story and presence is just mind blowing. He is just so beautiful and powerful. Completely mesmerized by his potential, authority and with how the story progressed. The world of Teyvat has suddenly changed significantly and I bet now the heavenly principles will awaken with their power, dominance and authority having been threatened for the first time in a long time. Can't wait to see Neuv taking down Celestia. Mihoyo getting better and better with their stories and cutscenes and compositions. Thank you so much!

It may also Reference the other Water signs Cancer and Scorpio
Where Cancer would be represented by Egerias Nurturance of New Humans into Teyvat, feeling the emotions of her own familiars she went out of her way to help them feel fulfillment.
And Scorpio represented by the Death and rebirth of the Hydro Dragon, the Hydro Dragon suffered from a fight against Celestia but was able to take back its power.
I would not be surprised if the Fire signs which are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are to be represented in Natlan.

best archon quest EVER! Focalor sacrifices herself to let Furina be free is very emotional. I poured out tears at night thinking about this. Now I have neuvillette and Furina playable, I can fully understand the meaning of this archon quest.

Fontaine is most definitely one of the BEST regions, if not the best. The storyline was so interesting and I was always on the edge of my seat. The emotions shown almost drove me to tears (which means a lot coming from me because I barely EVER cry). From Lyney’s tragic performance to the Primordial Sea flooding the Fortress to Focalors demise, I enjoyed every single bit of these quests. I promise you that they get better and better. I have high hopes for Natlan. Genshin, please don’t disappoint. .
This animation really shook all of us Travelers. It was a tragic farewell to Focalors.

So from what I've gathered, before Egeria's death, Focalors was only just an oceanid, but she rose to become Egeria's successor, hence receiving divinity and a human body after godhood. Focalors always wanted to become human, and so she left behind a human counterpart of her and named it "Furina" after Egeria's death. However, Focalors felt guilty because the authority of the dragon sovereigns were stolen, and as the god of justice, she wanted to upheld the said ideal and return the power to its rightful owner (Neuvillette). And so, she deceived the heavenly principles by tasking Furina, an innocent girl to act as Focalors and the Hydro Archon until the day the prophecy is fulfilled. Focalors then separated her divinity and human self. That being said, her divinity (and the Hydro Gnosis) is stored within the machine known as the Oratrice, explaining why it has its own "consciousness". The other part of her, "Furina" acts only as a human vessel and is cursed with immortality for 500 years to rule over Fontaine. So long as Focalors' divinity kept on living Furina could not die.
Focalors always intended to sacrifice herself from the very beginning to serve justice by returning the powers and the authority that was stolen. That's why she stored her divine self within the oratrice so that one day, she could "judge" herself and break the prophecy. In this case, she "judges" herself (you could say she commits suicide) as an act of sacrifice so that Fontaine could be freed from the prophecy and Neuvillette, whom she tasked with the position as the Iudex, the Chief Justice, could pass his verdict of forgiving the sins of Fontaine as well as to execute Focalors. After Focalors' sacrifice, the prophecy is no more and the people of Fontaine is cleansed from their sins. That being said, the reason why Focalors was willing to sacrifice herself was because she felt it was injustice to Neuvillette along with the other dragon sovereigns due to the heavenly principles stealing their powers and handing them towards the archons. Therefore, as the embodiment of justice itself, Focalors willingly demolished the throne of the Hydro Archon so that Neuvillette could regain his full, rightful dragon powers that was once originally his. To me, this is the ultimate act of justice.
Now since Focalors' is gone, the divinity of the Hydro Archon is no more since the throne has been destroyed, making Focalors the last Hydro Archon. Focalors' last wish is for Furina to live happily as a human, just as how she always wanted to be.
Is Furina still an archon? No. The title/throne of the Hydro Archon is destroyed, so there will no longer be another Hydro Archon, making Focalors the last. Furina is a human now. Whether she is mortal or immortal is not stated, but I would like to assume that she possesses longevity despite now being a human.
What about Neuvillette? Is he the archon now? No as well. His dragon powers and authority were returned, but he's not an archon. Besides, the archons were never the original rulers of Teyvat so it does not make sense if he becomes one. Neuvillette, having to grew fond of humans, instead is the one leading the nation and has the ability to grant visions.

Fantastic. Easily the best cutscene in the entire game, the music, the voice acting, everything is absolutely perfect.
Its interesting how although Neuvallite and the Traveler watches the Hydro Archon onstage, Neuvillette is able to talk to her on the stage and gets some of his questions answered before the execution, while the traveler is unable to interact with the archon, only able to witness the scene infront of them from the audience seats.

I found it beautiful how Focalors, accept her fate and wasn't afraid to die.
She was afraid, she was simply brave enough to go through it.
She was afraid but she knew her death would save Fontaine and return Neuvillette to dragonhood.
