    This group of musicians oozes talent. And Paul Simon isn’t bad either. Just the best singer-songwriter ever. The group nailed this.

      Agreed. It says on the computer that Paul Simon is not a poet when you ask the question if he is, but I think that songs like this stand up against much poetry with very fine music to back up the haunting brilliance of his words. He teaches valuable lessens in his words and his songs have been friends to millions of people.

      hey,Freddy, i know what you mean. it's not that line for me,but the bass and guitar line after the chorus in Graceland. it hits me hard every time and i don't know why.

    Man, this is a sweet song. That man has written more quality songs about the human condition and being on the road and all that other stuff that indicates that life is a mystery to be experienced. Love that man.

      @@lucabez You know that I posted my comment a year ago. So I get to revisit it just now. It's still so sweet. A couple of things I noticed this time (three actually):
      Look at the juxtaposition of Jarosz and Simon. I like that this display of talent is generational. She gets to hang with all the greats. Simon's two generations back in time.
      Andrew Bird, an indie star is up there backing Simon up...he's one generation back. And that bridge with the two fiddles. Right on the money.
      Chris Thile...look right there at the end of the tune. His clenched fist gesture of success, he knows that they nailed the song.

    That fiddle gives it a melancholy tone which really works. Paul sometimes goes out of his way to deviate from the original melody, but he's faithful to the original here & it's all the better for it. Absolutely beautiful song.

    Paul Simon played the soundtrack for my youth. Chris Thile (in all of the various forms in which he appears) is the sound track for the last 15 years. This song is like having my life flash before my eyes...and it is beautiful.

    Every bit as good as the version on 'Live Rhymin' with Urubamba. I was learning guitar at 13 yrs old when I played this song to my parents. I had no idea why the opening lines caused their eyes to widen...

    This is my all-time favourite Paul Simon song - this performance introduced me to the awesome talent that is Sarah Jarosz (Banjo) and I am now an accidental bluegrass fan... to add, that fiddle and harmonics are just amazing... really adds to the performance.

      +Paul Jacobson How little his voice has aged is ridiculous. My friend reckons he's got some sort of Dorian Gray thing going on and his real voice is locked in an attic somewhere! He's definitely aged the best of all the senior statesmen of music.
