Sony PVM 20L5 Review for Classic Gaming in RGB

- Just throwing a video out there on my take of the Sony PVM. I made this video for people who are trying to decide on getting one. I think its a pretty interesting setup for retro gaming and yields the best results.I try to make things interesting while pushing as much knowledge as I have obtained by trial and error. I would also like to add that my videos are not for RGB experts as they seem to already know what to do. RGB is not well known here in America and some other countries.
- Hry
Love the intro theme by the way. General Chaos was one of my brothers and I's favorite games growing up.
For a video from 2013, I must say that the video quality is outstanding.
Thanks for sharing.
I feel so blessed to have gotten into this a few years later than when this was published. The NES Tim Worthington RGB mod with the 3 pallete switches is amazing. I also know how to solder so I installed it myself. I also installed the RGB amp on my snes mini and N64. Rocking out on my lil PVM-1350 is so fun. Thanks phonedork love your videos even if your audio is shit hahaha.
Great video!Funny and very educational,ur vid pushed me over the edge and my sony pvm is in the mail.Keep up the good work and can't wait for more video's.
Thats probably one of the best complements I ever got! Thanks!
Thanks to your videos,i came to know what it was to game in glorious RGB. This vid sums it up! Well done!
Thanks man!!! Its hard to find time. But I enjoy making them. I will try my best to keep more quality videos coming.
Fascinating. Good content. Keep making fun stuff. Shanks for the memories
Great video! This is actually my favorite RGB monitor. My PVM is slightly sharper, but the size and 480p compatibility of the XM29 makes it worth it. I can't BELIEVE you got it for $25!!! I'm still looking for an XM37, to see how it compares.
I haven't had a chance to test the Bandridge SCART switch yet, so I'm glad you commented on it. Can you daisy-chain them together?
Its super hard to capture my video quality. I did a better job on my redux of NEC XM 29 PLUS.
phonedork Wow, I must have posted in the wrong video - I was actually talking about the XM29 one. Sorry!
Watch the XM29 Plus Video again! Its been updated
1. Great video! 2. Wtf is RGB vs anything? I don’t understand why the crowds go wild. 3. MegaMan can *** my ******* 4. You’re huge into this stuff, thank you again for helping me actually see how it makes some sense! Where do you draw the line between tweaking the picture and just enjoying the games? There’s gotta be a point when we stop fiddling with knobs and connectors/converters and just... play the games, right?
Don’t mind me, I’m in forced Xanax withdrawal after 20 years of 200% responsible, legal use, and my brain feels like a piece of re-bar’s been shoved through it. I can taste the metal. Doctors are evil.
You do great videos Phonedork. I wish you made more!
Thanks! Especially coming from you! I learned alot from your videos!
HI I have a PVM 1440QM it has a euro scart connector but in the middle of the screen are some scuffs would i be able to take of the protective screen just like you have done on your unit? i never done anything like this before or should i take it to a local tv repair man? also i dont even know if it has a protective screen do all pvm's have them?
You sir have gained another subscriber!
Just picked up a pvm..superb, apart from adjusting the settings. I notice people use the Avia test disc, searched for it high and low but can't find it. Any ideas ?
I have a sony pvm-20m2mdu showing black and white how do I change it to color really need your help.
Have you fixed a nec xm29 plus scratch any time? Has the same antiglare coating? Thank u!
Hey thanks for the info!!!! Been thinking about it quite a bit!
Isn't it just the first model SNES systems that have the blurriness issue? The 1CHIP models seem to be equivalent (or very similar) to the performance gained from modifying the SNES mini, at least from the research I did.
How do you hook computer speakers to the snes?
Hey there, I have a question. I also have been fortunate enough to get a 20L5 but it does have a scratch on the screen (or rather the anti-glare coating) it's extremely small though so I'm pretty sure it hasn't scratched the actual glass. I don't want to screw it up but do you recommend removing the glare coating? Thanks.
I cant wait till I find one in the thrift shops. I only have CVM's and they sadly don't have that beautiful RGB. It's more like composite. I have the SONY CVM-1271, it was old CBS stock.
That is a stereo mod of some sort. Only works with certain games like Castlevania 3 if your talking about the famicom. But if your referring to the Sony PVM I just bought a stereo setup and bypassed the monitor for sound. You can also purchase computer speakers for sound.
I feel sad for the play choice10 cabinets that don't have their chips anymore... It's very sad it makes me want to cry.... Hill's I wonder which one is better the pPU from the play choice 10 or tim worthingtons rgb mod for nes...???
16:00 , Yes. 😊, best soundtrack imo!
Thats great info for these PVMS! But since this video I picked up a 29 inch NEC Multisync which is super awesome! But it does need the sync stripper for some consoles. So the Sync Stripper is needed on some RGB monitors I guess since they need the video stripped from the composite video sync. For the genesis it dont need the sync stripper if you use raw sync. Which RAW SYNC seems to be Composite Sync only without the video.
awesome setup man.
Also how did u work out the mono to stereo? If u did.
Does this monitor support sync on green?
Want one of these. Hard to come by these days.
This is the best fuggin' state-side PVM review out there. Preech!
You know I have been thinking about a turbografx for a while. I wanted to see if I could mod it. But it looks a bit more difficult then I can do.
You are the coolest person I know!
Great channel, followed it as soon as I found it.
Been on the lookout for one of these monitors a while now. But on my travels, I did bump into a) and older generation toshiba hdtv like a 22" which had an svideo port and b) those older style no hdtv lcd tvs that were still 4:3 that also had component and s-video I think one was called lloyds and the other was skyworths They are flat and dont have the fat ass in the back, both were "15. Do you have any insight into these kind of tvs. Would be running a saturn via s-video. Still waiting on my scart cable.
I bought one of these monitors for fairly cheap. I don't have the cables yet, so that I can test it. However, I notice on the menu screen, the image will go up and down rather quickly, a line or so, then it will eventually slow, and sometimes will stop. Does anyone know what would cause the screen to jump up and down a line ?
The capacitors are getting old. Mine does this too because it has old capacitors, but not when my games are turned on and I boot the menu after I start playing.
So a big question would you guys rather have a 20L5 for the 480p access (GameCube, Dreamcast) or a bvm 20f1u for the best quality picture but only for the 240p consoles? I think that's correct for those monitors anyways. Correct me if I'm wrong.
+Old Ass Memes lmfao!!! Damn you just had me laughing hard in line at the store reading that comment. Ppl were lookin at me strange lol. Very understandable question though. He is a cutie though isn't he? He is a beautiful model! Used to love He-man as a kid btw!
Great video phonedork. I actually own an XRGB-3 and I dont think its that big of an investment if you consider that it will guarantee that all your old school gaming will look awesome...
I also have a DVDO edge... I'm addicted to this shit man.
What speakers were you using in that set up? I've been looking for speakers that are safe to use near CRT monitors. Were yours magnetically shielded/did they cause any issues?
Would a SONY PVM-8042Q Monitor be acceptable? I hear you are the PVM guy and I want a cheap option that will make my Gamecube games look like they used to. HD tvs don't do them justice sometimes.
I know this video is old,but I’m curious to know what variant of the Snes this is (or 1-chip variant is)
Its the 1 chip mini
I noticed theres no switch on the back of these monitors to go from RGB and component, as opposed to the 1444Q that has a switch, so how do you switch between the 2 modes on this monitor?
Abran Mendoza I'm absurdly jealous
Out here in Chicago everyone knows their value :( I might try a proxy shipper from California soon
Awesome video bro
Great video, I just picked up a 20l5 and love it.
Its replacing my old 2530.
Is this pretty much the best PVM there is? (Not talking about BVM)
Cheers,
Instead of that $40 Scart to BNC cable, I use a cheap Hama Scart to RGB component adapter and some RCA to BNC cables. Works great on my PVM-20L2MD. A good way to test if you need RAW sync is Adventures of Batman & Robin on the Genesis and Street Fighter Alpha 3 on PS1/2. You'll see loss of sync on white flashes.
The scanlines song legit made me laugh out loud
240p isn't an official video standard, it's the exact same signal as 480i only with the field pulse in the sync suppressed. Normally for 480i it's toggled after every scan so that you get an interlaced image (switching fields from even to odd) but without toggling it, the same set of even/odd scanlines get drawn to all the time. So a signal with half of 480i's scanlines and being non-interlaced ends up getting called "240p" by retrogamers etc for the sake of having a name to refer to it by (there's other names such as "dual strike" as Nintendo calls it) but to the TV it's just a 480i signal.
Want to also add that the PVM 2950Q can't use composite video as a sync source, has to be raw/stripped. Nice video overall, and BTW I'd recommend leveling your audio in future videos since there were loud parts that had me turn my volume down.
DanAdamKOF Yea my NEC XM29 Plus needs a sync strike or sync stripper to work. It does not like the sync with the video in it like my PVM. Thanks for the info on 480I!!!
I know my DVDO Edge says "240p" when I got my old systems hooked up, and that's official-sounding enough for me. And my other scaler can't even handle 240p, so yeah.
Justin Sison
It's distinct and it's out there but it's not a part of any video standard, doesn't stop something like your Edge calling it 240p from happening though
I think that was the best answer I ever got on the subject!!! Thanks MAN!!!
Not sure if anyone has answer yet, but it doesn't surprise me that it says 480i for a 240p source. What I've heard is that 240p is still read by standard defs as 480i, it's just what the tv does with the signal that makes it 240 lines progressive scan. I wish I could explain it better but somebody smart on a forum explained it to me a while back. Not sure where that post went.
Sega Genesis You got it right bud! Thanks!
I am really curious why they dont built in an scan line mode in the new lcds.. With 4k panel it should not be a problem, to get at least a GOOD result.. It would be nice feature.. :-)
I know I'm like 7 years late for this, but if anyone is watching and wants to know why 240p is showing up as 480i, it's because 240p is not a standard resolution, but it rather a trick to force a progressive scan, 15khz signal. It does this by only drawing half the lines at twice the rate, maintaining the same signal frequency.
any advice on audio output setup on the sony pvm and bvm?
Use external PC speakers.
How did you hook your genesis to the Sony pvm? Did you do genesis to scart to the split out looking hookup?
Get a sega genesis scart first then go to retrogaming cables and order a Female scart to bnc breakout. If you have a PVM 20L5 you don't need the one with the sync separator (Sync Stripper). Its cheaper too. If you don't know if you need it or not I would get the one with the sync separator. Some Sony PVM / BVMs require a sync stripper.
4:12 that's because 240p is more of a video trick used to get a rock-solid pogressive image out of video game consoles before the 5th generation of gaming where developers started experimenting with true 480i on their games. 240p is basically 480i but the odd or even field is remove leaving the other field to make use of the limited 15KHz bandwidth because you need double the bandwidth to make use of 480p
The Shiro community sends its regards!
Hey thanks man!!!!!
dose the BKM-129X give a better picture? or is it the same as the stock inputs?
Its the same! No different. Just gives an extra input
thanks
Just bought a fairly similar PVM the 20L2, still needs to get some rca to bnc adapters and a scart to bnc but this video really helps a lot with that.
Great video, thank you for uploading it! Looks like the 20L5 is alot harder to find, would you recommend any other PVM or BVM at 20 inches instead? I prefer to game 240 so the higher res bvm and pvm probably wont look as good right?
PVM-20M2U or the 20M4U are great. The M2 is 600 TVL and M4 800 TVL.
I need elp with my 1354q pvm. Message in white
reads ntsc at the bottom when I plug into s video. I have run out of ideas so if anyone has any information or ideas please reply. Thanks!
Joshy Saul have u figured out anything on your monitor? I have one but have never used s-video on it.
This video is awesome!! How do I get a TV like this?
Hey thanks man!!! That was quite confusing!!!
Thanks! LOL! Seriously a PVM is gonna woop the SLG3000! Any pure RGB CRT monitor is always gonna perform the best
Where can you find this modder known as skips?
I don't think he does mods for people anymore. Or regular customers anyway; I've heard that he still does mods for friends and people he's done business with before. I've never dealt with him though so I can't personally confirm that. Just what I've heard.
Great Video! There are a couple of videos out there about gaming on PVMs I liked your's the best. It inspired me to get a couple of PVMs and they have GREATLY improved my gaming experience! Thank you. I have a question if you dont mind? I enjoy gaming on my PVMs so much I'd want to eventually get a next gen system however the PS4 and XBOX One only output HDMI. I found online there are HDMI to Component converters do you know how well they work? I'm glad the Wii U still outputs component I'll probably pick one up this holiday season over the PS4 and XBOX One since it has a better game line up but eventually I'll get the other two and I'd like to hook them up on my PVM. Thanks again
I would not put a PS4 or X-Box One on a PVM. You would have to down convert the signal. 240P, 480P, and 480I games look great on those monitors. But newer systems look better on a LCD since that is what they are made for. Thats my opinion on it. A PS2 and Original Xbox would be great on it though. Scanlines would only work with 240P games though. Happy Gaming
Hey man, great video! Did you ever get an answer to the question about your pvm displaying 480/60i? I've got the same thing showing on mine. I've got a 20L2 that I'm running my Genesis (1st gen) on. Using RGB cables from RGC. Is this just inherent to the monitor or is there something else I'm missing? Thanks!
Joseph Baideme better late than ever, it’s perfectly normal. 240p is basically 480 it’s just each 2nd line is blank (Scanline) it’ll always shows as 480i despite it being 240P. Unless you have a multi format/HD CRT TV such as a Sony PVM2L5, BVMD9H1U etc, they can do 240P/480I/480P/720P/1080i like the one in this video
I'm looking for a reliable scart switcher; do you have any recommendations? where to buy?
He talks about them in his nec xm29 vid
beefcurtainz69 yeah i saw it. I couldn't find out where to buy any reliable scart switch though.
+common rider Second hand is the way to go. eBay, Craigslist (or other similar sites if you don't live in the US), thrift shops and even flea markets. I've seen tons of them on flea markets, and even bought some there. Just as long as you know what to look for, you'll find a few that match the requirements quite well.
He knows his shit! Pre-internet, I'm talking early 90's, I always wanted to hook my consoles up to a VGA monitor we had to try and get a better picture, but I was too young and didn't know how to go about hooking it up. The best I could do is find an ega monitor that had av hook ups in the back. It did look quite a bit clearer than what normal kids were using.
I don't know jack about it, but it's always awesome seeing people figure out how to improve picture quality for the consoles we loved growing up.
On a random note, has anyone else been told that the NES has lag using the RGB hook ups? Once I was talking to a dude about Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, and he told me to always play it through RF/ant. hook up because there is lag any other way, and as we know, you need dead on speed and accuracy to dodge some of the punches.
There is actually 0 lag on the NES RGB. But there is a new setup on the internet that allows you to extract RGB from the original NES composite PPU. Apparently there is a digital signal that can be converted to s-video or RGB in the original NES. I got this mod and it is WAY better then the RGB I have shown on this video for the Nintendo Famicom. I had SKIPS do my mod and it is awesome. I believe its the UniversalPPU. Should be able to google it. A lot cheaper then killing a RGB playchoice arcade.
phonedork
Thanks, bro. I've been trying to figure out a setup for my older consoles and doing some research. Your channel has some great information.
I have a sony bvm-d20fu which has some marks to the screen, maybe removing the anti-glare coating will sort it. Did this effect the quality of the picture much in terms of black levels etc? thanks
Had no effect on quality what so ever! Just be careful!
phonedork yep came off easy enough, scratch free underneath! have some bits of glue to clean off the glass though. should come off easy enough I imagine.
jed factor what did you use to clean the glue residue off the screen after removing the anti glare coating?
I used alcohol and a microfiber cloth
phonedork I used a sponge scourer and some acetone, got the glue off but now ive scratched the glass...doh! now going to try and polish the scratches out.
How it looks a PSX, Sega Saturn and a RGB modified N64 on your setup?
My Sega Saturn looks extremely awesome and I am working on another video that will show it on my NEC XM29 Plus. My N64 was modded to output the best RGB it can get. However N64 uses some type of anti aliasing filter on there games to smooth edges and get rid of jaggies. This filter causes a slightly muddy effect even on a RGB monitor. On a 20 inch monitor N64 looks good. But on a 29 inch monitor it looks ok but the Saturn looks better because it does not have that filter. It sucks because some games allow you to turn the filter off on the N64 such as Quake. To me it just looks WAY better on the N64 without that filter. Don't go over a 20 inch monitor with the N64!
phonedork I'm looking forward to see your next video. Greetings!
I think the reason why the PVM reads the game signal as 480i is because a lot of older TV sets natively output to 480p. The scanlines are the TV's way of blowing up the image to twice the size, by drawing one line of graphics and filling the next line with a black line.
As for the "there's nothing like getting your ass handed to you by an Asian girl in an Asian (fighting) game", I agree. Especially when their winpose has them do a little dance and act like "I can't believe I actually won!"
the tv see 240p as 480i because they are the same. 240p is 240 lines plus 240 black lines equals 480 lines. In 480i the signal interlace the odds and the even lines. in 240p the odds or even lines are always blacks and you have 60 progresive frame instead of 30 interlace frame in 480i
Please can someone tell me what kind of a speaker do i use for my bvm 20f1u
Have u figured out a way to use a speaker with it and how did u hook it up I got a pvm with a mono only rca type phono input and am trying to figure out how to get computer speakers hooked to the pvm.
+beefcurtainz69 The best way to go is to get a decent stereo amplifier, the type you'd have in an HiFi set. Next to being able to drive larger speakers, they often sound miles better than integrated audio circuitry such as in the Sony PVM. Just route the RCA audio to the amp, turn it on, select the right input and blast away.
Pls make more videos playing on your PVMs! No one records with those scanlines!!!
What's the music playing after he says, "let's start this shit."
That music is from Fatal Fury 1 on the Neo Geo. You hear it when you just inserted a coin I believe. It is a pretty common tune for Neo Geo games, I think it is played on more than one or two games.
Thanks! This is a great video! I've watched it several times to get most of the information, now that song is stuck in my head. lol
I have a question. My SCART to Component transcoder has an issue with the scart slot. It won't accept a signal if the plug if seated in all the way, it has to be pulled out a bit and then it'll work. Does yours do this or is mine the cheap chinese POS it is?
Its definitely a connection issue. I never had a problem with the CSY 2100. When I compare the CSY2100 to the CVS version, I can definitely see a build quality difference with the CSY2100 feeling much more solid. I did not see any difference in quality however. Perhaps yours needs to be replaced or perhaps its the scart cable that is acting up
phonedork
It happens with all my scart cables.
But if your going through a scart switcher then there is that one male to male scart cable that all your systems use. That is the scart cable I am referring to. If your not using a scart switcher with that one male to male scart cable then for sure its the component transcoder your using
I don't have a switcher that works yet.Bought some cheapos from Ebay, and had less than desirable results, especially with my N64 RGB mod which the switcher just didn't like.
I'll see about tracking down some good quality female scart connectors and replacing the one in my transcoder.
there are so many PVM and BVM now for sale you just need to be patient.
whats the game from 13:37-14:16
I wonder if you could hook up mame to your two monitor setup, then play 6-player X-Men, if you remember the cabinet used two monitors, or if you remember the Tecmo Bowl cabinet also had a two monitor setup. It would be just for fun to see if it could be done.
Hey mate, I think the reason the 20L5 says it's 480i and not 240p is that "officially" the L5 series dosn't support 240p. It's kind of an unintentional bonus.
haha, i finished megaman 2 in 1 playthrough the first time i played it, but serious wet dream of a set up you got there
The only difference between Composite Sync and Raw Sync is that Composite Sync is actually a plain normal full-fledged Composite video signal whereas Raw Sync carries only the sync pulses, so no additional Composite picture. If you connect the Sync BNC cable to Line A or B input and select the input you will get a normal Composite display on the PVM (unless it's a Raw Sync signal of course which doesn't carry image).
The Composite picture is not used while in RGB mode - only it's Sync pulses, so naturally it does not matter whether it's Composite Sync or Raw.
Composite Sync is actually just the sync part of a composite video signal - More properly it's a composite of both horizontal and vertical sync. Feeding an entire composite video into something that only wants composite sync doesn't always work, it depends on if the engineers were expecting that sort of abuse.
KB Quinnell
But what is Raw Sync then if Composite Sync carries no video (imo it does)?
RGB via Scart uses Composite Video (standard CVBS) for sync. That way it is even backwards compatible with TVs and VCRs that do not support RGB. The RGB signals can safely be ignored and you still get a CVBS picture.
Skiller TV Raw sync is just that - raw. A horizontal sync wire, and a vertical sync wire. Composite sync does not carry video. It carries a composite of the sync signals. That's why it's called composite sync. Sync is sync, simple.
Why are you telling me that SCART uses the sync embedded in composite video? I know this already.
This video has single handedly inspired me to hunt down and kill or capture a Sony PVM. This vid is a BAMF.
OK, what do you do and how do you do it?! Those AES carts must cost you a fortune! Nice PVM! I have a Sony PVM 20M4U and it's awesome!
Good informative video! :-)
Scanlines 4 lyfe
man your videos are informative, and funny as fuck. You should start making more game related videos. #salute
Hey Phonedork do you still have your Powerpak? I'll grab it off you if you still have it haha.
damn you had a neo geo back in 92! damnnnnn every kid on the block must have been ur friend lol
Anyone know the best way to connect dreamcast to PVM/BVM using 480P
LMAO@ 17:20! Great video.
yeah dude...well after watching a load of videos i checked craiglist and picked up PVM lol...Sony Wega what now? :P this monitor is the bomb diggity. and I still plan on using my SLG..its not crap but it is faking the funk when you got the real deal. :)
I don't understand why people think Megaman is hard! I swear, and I am not even kidding, i got the the last level in Ninja Gaiden on my second try! I never played that game in my life until a few years ago. If you want hard...try megaman for the Gameboy :D
i just want one of these but i don't want to pay $500+...pls help
ヒマナッツマガツ I just sold one of my PVM20L5s for 130 dollars. For some reason these things went up in price. I originally bought both 20L5s for 60 dollars. Keep looking on craigslist and eBay.
I like your take on things and how many times you say shit. :) u a fan the slg3000? I am getting it and a pvm hopefully..gonna have them fight to the death.
lmao, can you do a full-length "scan lines"? Please? lol
I'm a hardliner when it comes to flat-panels. Unless you play light gun games or games with active-shutter 3D glasses, I do not think anyone should still use a CRT in 2016. Tube TVs are big, bulky, and heavy. The black level argument? That may have held up in the early 2000s, but the technology has improved since then. Scanlines? I never thought of them as actually being there.
If I must go back to a tube, I'd really like one of these professional monitors, a SCART switch, and a SCART-to-BNC adapter. I can't help but feel cheated knowing that we never got RGB on consumer TVs in North America. Why do we get fucked over with inferior A/V standards? What the fuck? RGB looks so beautiful; why fuck us over with composite and S-Video? All we get it with is computer monitors and through VGA!
You really should check out my video on the Sony BVM24E1WU. Also the other video I have that demonstrates this 1000 line monitor in 1080p. Blows anything I have ever seen on a fixed pixel display for old consoles
+phonedork Already did, and it was amazing. If I had the space and Dead Presidents, I'd buy one easily, then mount my HDTV on top of it. If I can rig one HDMI cable to the HDTV and another to the BVM via HDMI-to-YPbPr, I should have the best of both worlds. Then I'd try playing Team Fortress 2, Oblivion, Skyrim, Tropico 3-4, The Sims 3, Mechwarrior Online, and Duke Nukem Forever, all on max settings and through the BVM, just to see how it looks.
Phone Dork: I'm going to pause the video and straight off, respond to your comment about getting a TG-16:
Get the PC Engine instead. There are MANY English games on it, and the PCE has a much lower total cost of ownership. Even lower if you get a Turbo Everdrive. The library is much larger. Hit up PCEngineFX boards thats how I got mine cheap.
If you do an RGB mod, it's easier to mod the Tennokoe 2 unit than to mod a TG-16 and put a bunch of holes in the case. Check my channel for some demos.
LOL at the melted special edition av famicom courtesy of drakon
Ohh YEA!! He sure knows how to over charge you and super glue your shit together!!!
I like the video but PLEASE stop earraping me with the record scratches
Gsme at 13:40?
mendyc158 Super Spy Hunter I believe
Castlevaina 2 looks better in Composite, the titles look purple in RGB.
Color pallet is better but does not look even close as good! Albeit I do not use the Playchoice RGB Chip Mod any more. The Playchoice RGB chip uses a different color pallet. I use the latest RGB mod which uses the original composite pallet.
My 20l5 works perfect via component/composite but in RGB I get this weird effect.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7L0WVdP ... G1G1VXST3A
Tried different cables, power supplies, power outlets, systems etc,
Any idea what might be the issue?
I could not see the video you posted. But if the screen is squiggly its a sync issue. If it is very greenish then you need to set the RGB inputs for RGB and not component. You actually have to go to the menus to change the video source from component to RGB.
phonedork Sorry for being such a pest, I figured it out with the help of one of the forums. I obtained a BKM-129X card and after installing it and hooking up the BNC SCART breakout the L5 is working perfect with Megadrive/SNES/WII etc via SCART in RGB. Not sure whats up with the onboard inputs. But one happy gamer this display is incredible!
COOL! Happy Gaming!!!
LOL! I dont think so.... I have a more manly baritone voice. I suck and high notes!!! LOL!
