Religious Influences of Stellar Blade: The Elder Naytiba, Tachy & More

- The demo of Stellar Blade is floating around on CZcams, so I wanted to take a look at it, and wow, what a demo. One of the best parts of the demo was the Elder Naytiba character. Through an analysis of this character, Tachy, and others, I suggest some of what the influences Shift Up may be pulling from in their game design. There are several religious influences seen in the trailers already including the naming of enemy bosses and many instances of religious symbolism such as the angels on the spaceships of the 7th Airborne Squadron. However, in this video, I go a bit deeper and discuss what I believe are some of the religious influences in Stellar Blade. I believe some of my thoughts are pretty solid facts, but a lot of my thoughts are speculation so please take what I say with a grain of salt. Also, if you're trying not to spoil yourself before the demo is officially released, then this video is not for you. If you're ok with getting spoiled and knowing what is in the demo before its official release, then please come watch.

Finally there are lore speculation videos. I have been intrigued by the biblical imagery and the lore since the beginning but there have been very few sources and even less speculation. So far everything has been focused mostly on Eve's looks.
Interesting that there is now mention of Protocol Eve. As far as I understand Project Eve was not just a codename during the early development of the game but the actual intended original title. I found parallels to Project Zero Dawn from the Horizon series: basically to re-establish life and repopulate the planet after some kind of failed genetic experiment, that's why the name Project Eve. And yeah, Alpha Naytiba most likely is a former EVE. It is also interesting that Tachy is written like a normal personal name but EVE is written in all capitals like an acronym. Maybe Tachy is an individual name to a model that has been around for a longer period of time?
Time will show if our speculations are correct. It's not the first time fans develop amazingly complex and detailed theories only to be let down when they see what the actual writers have done 😂(take Star Wars for example). But I have a good feeling about this game and the developer.
Loving your comment - parallels to Horizon are definitely possible. And yes, I totally agree, we could be going down one of many speculation rabbit holes just to have our thoughts be totally off from what the writers have written for this game. haha.

First off, excellent job pointing out the parallels and a hugely entertaining video. I do wonder if the blade Eve gets from Tachy is more of a passing of the torch reminiscent of Kiana taking up the sword of her mentor Himeko in Honkai Impact 3rd. That was a very pivotal moment for the series and launched Mihoyo into the behemoth it is today. Being that it was so impactful, I could see Shift-up trying to capture the same emotion. It's very clear Shift Up pays attention to what Honkai Impact 3rd produces as both Nikke and HI3rd are running events that are almost identical on two very different games.
Never got into those games, but if what you say would result in boosting Stellar Blade into upper echelon of games, then that would be awesome. Would you recommend any of those games like Genshin Impact?
@@unlistednaytiba I never recommend gacha games due to the nature of their revenue. That said, few games have caused an emotional response in my life. FF7, Nier Automata, and Honkai Impact 3rd rank among the top. Honkai Impact 3rd is a little dated being that it's over 5 years old now and was originally built for mobile however the story is among the best in the industry. It starts a little slow, but once you reach chapter 5 you start to see the love that goes into the game and the backstories start to take shape. By the end of chapter 9, if your not hooked, you don't have a heart. If its something you want to try without the investment, I'd be happy to let you play through the story on my account if you just want to experience it.

I've been "playing" Alan Wake 2 for the past 6 months and can't even get in time to finish that 20 hour game. So I'll have to pass, but thanks again for the offer. Also, of the games you mentioned, I have played Nier Automata and that game definitely hit on an emotional level. I think FF7 would have if I was older when I played it. I played the OG one and I think I was too young to follow the story correctly.

@@BenEmigh HI3rd is such a strange one for me. I played from 4.7 to 6.0 (loved Starchasm Nyx's design), enjoyed the gameplay and endgame modes for that time then tried to get into the story.
Idk if it was just the lack of polish on the presentation / translation or what but I had gotten all the way through Ch. 25 and still wasn't impressed at all. It just felt like they made cool stuff happen to sell characters.
Once that trailer came out for the end of Part 1, I realized nothing about the game's story was ever going to get me hyped and I dropped it at that point.
I love these deep dive lore theories. You put them together with a lot of thought and detail. I look forward to the next one.

I think you're right about Alphas being infected airborne squad soldiers. When I saw on our side in the beginning of the game the infection was the only explaination for her to fight Eve in the 2021 trailer

The old guy in the trailers looks a lot like the Austrian painter Rudolf von Alt. Conveniently, he has a statue dedicated to him in Eidos 7.

Thanks for the video! I really look forward to delving into the lore and seeing where the story takes us for sure! Just like in the Drakenguard/Nier series, the visuals are astounding but the story is so deep and seemingly tragic it just grips you to the core!
Totally agree. The look of the game and of course Eve are incredible. Sci-fi story, if done right, is much more intriguing. Hopefully the story is banging as much as Eve's outfits are... haha.

Great video, if story will be that complex it might really be game of the year, most videos about Stellar Blade focus on fight mechanics and "assets", forgetting completely about story, but at the end this might be biggest surprise and most important point in this game.

A lot of the trailers have kind of spoiled what happens to Tachy. She’s later seen in a large exosuit with tentacles growing out of the place where her arm would be. She later covers the tentacles with a shiny looking fabric. It’s the same
Trailer where it’s shown the exosuit has a sick human skull holographic helmet.
Yeah the only reason I can think of that Shift Up would put that major spoiler in is that she later on redeems herself or something like that (after she becomes Elder Naytiba).

In the first trailer of this game after the Sony acquisition, the enemies are referred to as "NA:tives", not "Naytibas". This may be an instance of censorship due to incorrect association with native Americans.
Also, don't forget about the name Lily/Lilith. So we have Eve, Adam, and Lily/Lilith.

I've loved romanji to english errors since the days of Streets of Rage 2 in regards to the character named "Galsia". Funnily enough Streets of Rage 4 retained the mistranslation of "Garcia"

Man I bloody enjoyed this, you made me see this game in a new light. To one of your points, I do remember hearing at one point that you are not supposed to be in love with something lesser than you, like a human being in love with an animal for example coz they are lesser than us.
We don`t know much about the story for this game and I remembered that Kim was inspired by Nier so the story might be amazing with multiple meanings.
Because of you I'm even more hyped for the game, I appreciate the effort you put into this video.

Deep analysis! I watched all the trailers multiple times, but couldn't come up with anything that is close to your prediction (except for the obvious Adam & Eve starting a new human generation). You should work for Shift Up as a story writer! Seriously. Hopefully the game has a good hopeful ending and don't end on a depressing note.

Paradise lost, because once this earth was a beautiful place. Now it has been destoryed by the temptation, sins of man, corruption etc. Trying to earn there way back into paradise and forgiveness by Eve.
Yes definitely. Now that the game is out, I would say that a lot of the religious influences were more for design purposes, but there are a few that panned out to be more involved with influencing the story.

I find the imagery of Eve arriving to earth naked, emerging from a pod in a pool of liquid (tonnes of birth imagery) and then donning a green outfit very angelic.
It reminded me of biblical imagery of Eve covering herself with a green leaf.
I'm still trying to figure out the "birthing" imagery with the water being broken. Not sure if it means something, I do hope the story leaves some stuff open to interpretation and intentionally ambiguous, but I do also hope there are some definitive answers in the narrative. Yeah now that you mention the green leaf of Eve in the bible, I can see that too. EVE from stellar blade has this kind of emblem down there in that region... not really sure what it means tho.

I honestly find the imagery so beautiful and appealing. And I’m not even a dude, I’m a straight woman.
Without meaning to bother, I don't think it has to do with symbolism, rather I think it represents the rank she held in the squad, I would dare say that she was second or third in command, just look at how the other girls fell to common naytiba and Like 5 of them had serious problems fighting the brute boss, when Tachy and Eve face the boss they defeat him without much difficulty, come on Eve is not a rookie as many believe, not to mention that Tachy and Eve's outfits are very different from the rest squad girls.
It kind of reminds me of the birth of Aphrodite from Greek Mythology cause she was born foam of the sea.
Great video. Reasoning is sound. I love the idea of iterative waves of infection, just like virus and bacteria strains growing stronger over time. One important meta thing: Eve will never have sex with Adam in this game, because this is an Asian game. They will never NTR you the player. That would be financial suicide. That would tank sales, lead to review bombs, and plummet their stock price - Shift Up is about to go public in fact. A culture that can create someone like Eve as a playable character absolutely is aware of how netorare is perceived by the Asian playerbase and what it has done to recent competitors like Girls Frontline 2.
Also “naytiba” I’m pretty sure is just an EN localization change to barely obfuscate the original “native” in Korean, both being pronounced virtually identical, giving away the not so secret origin of the enemy as being native to the planet.
One last thing that I realized when I read the other comments and saw that you don’t play Nikke, their latest game: how you’re describing Eternities is essentially what every female character is in Nikke - artificial human made humanoid weapons. You really should play Nikke and you’ll understand a lot more. It’s a shame they shut down their first game, Destiny Child. In that one, you’re literally a child of Lucifer vying for the top seat in Hell, and you spend your time amassing fallen angel servants and fighting other competitors to the throne. The story you’re describing for Stellar Blade is entirely within Shift Up’s wheelhouse.

That's really confusing me. Before the demo's release, I thought that would be the opening of the game, but now I realize that'll be after the midgame, cause I heard in an interview from Kim Hyung-Tae that we're not going to get access to the shooting feature of the drone until about midway through the game. Perhaps somehow the Seraphim is kinda an end boss?

Hey man I was reading through some in game text now that the demo is out and under the enemy description of Barnacles it does appear that the Naytiba “Virus” is a living organism that evolves to find the best way to survive giving more evidence to your theory on the alpha naytiba and Tachy
also same for the brute character description proving how they are quick to mutate

Eve, the protagonist of "Stellar Blade",
I think it is a bionic person. The evidence is as follows:
Skin-fitting armor suit: It can emit light independently, but humans have no energy source. The bionic human body's internal furnace can recharge the suit.
The hair accessory transforms into a blade: When you start fighting, take out your weapon and the hair accessory disappears.
Drone armored cannon: The reason is the same as the first point. The bionic human body's internal furnace can charge drone weapons, but humans cannot.
Equipment Parts Several items are external spine & gears.
In one of the game trailers, Eve is thrown out of the space station into outer space without the need for a space suit. Humans can't do it.
Team leader Tachi
It is speculated that she may have survived the infection.
Suspected to be alpha Natiba.
She is both an enemy and a friend of the protagonist.

I also thought / think (cause I go back and forth) that Eve is an android, but I was completely through off by the fact that Tachy throughs Eve an potion, so if she were an android she wound't need that, but perhaps it's some kind of potion that androids can access. I like your thought about Tachy somehow surviving the infection. I really like that character so I'm interested to see where her character arc goes. Love your comment and happy to have you here.
I think that was common sense by now. Also all "Battle-Angels" are women. Which means the cyborg technology only works with XX chromosomes/female DNA. No way a plain human alone could combat those huge monsters and their reflexes.

Another great video! It would be great to hear your thoughts on why Eve is always referred to as EVE in subtitles, etc. (an acronym perhaps?), and how Eve can be human (as confirmed by the developers), yet seem to be fine in space without a spacesuit or helmet and is apparently able to hold her breath indefinitely underwater as seen in the demo (no air meter). Do you think she could be a cyborg similar to Alita from Battle Angel: Alita? Also, why do you think the 7th Airborne Squadron appear to be women only?
The EVE acronym has me confused... not really sure. Yeah and then your point about EVE in space with no suit is also confusing, but I did see that her outfits are made from nanites or some type of nanotech so perhaps there's a film covering her whole body? Shoot I don't know. haha. Not sure about Alita, but that movie was sick! And then as far as them all being women I was at first thinking it had something to do with only having XX chromosome available to "grow" the airborne squadron members kinda like how X-23 was a female clone of Wolverine cause the scientists only had XX chromosomes available, but I'm not really sure. From what I know about the Director Kim, he is really into Christian lore and whole civilizations have divine origins and have come and gone like in cycles. He is not only known for his creative and sexy portray of female characters, his world building materials are very vast and deep. He is like Psy in korean gaming history. Look up War of Genesis series and Magna Carta series.

Yep I think you're referring to the trailer that featured the tower of babel in it too. This was just pointed out to me. I checked it out. It does look like it could be an earlier model like you said.
7:18 The Alpha Naytiba we see at the the beginning of the game has the general outline of a Harpy of Greek myth, but scaled up in stature. It has the head, torso, and arms of a humanoid female, but, has the wings, tail feathers, and backward bending legs (with splayed toes tipped with curved and wicked talons) of some great and terrible bird.
Totally agree . I think of harpies as well when seeing the alpha naytiba. I wonder what the elder naytiba is going to be... we hear of this in the mission briefing at the start of the demo.
Tachy comes back as a demon-hybrid female boss
Yes I'm wonering when we're going to battle her. Can't tell if it's a super late end game boss or if it happens somewhere around the middle of the game.

I think "the eternity you've ever wanted" in the advertisement for Project EVE describes the desire of humans to live eternal, to eat from the Tree of Life, to stay in biblical language. Project EVE is a "Hyper Body" built by the "Eidos" company and later named "Andro-Eidos". I think this "Hyper Body" serves as a vessel for humans to upload their mind into and become eternal / immortal. But the Bible reads that humans must not eat from from the Tree of Life because this would make them indistinguishable from God. Perhaps this is what caused "God's wrath" and him expelling humanity from Earth.
I like your thought on what this could be. There is so much that could have happened before the events of Stellar Blade. It's hard to determine exactly what happened, even now with the game being out, there seems to not be a definitie answer.
@@unlistednaytiba After watching the complete game, more clarity about Earth's "future history" ensued: The CEO of _Eidos_ company, Raphael Marks created the AI _Mother Sphere_ shortly before 2050 by consuming "the biggest database humans ever created". This sounds very much like how OpenAI's _ChatGPT_ was created. Mother Sphere describes its main task as "serving humanity by predicting the future." This also sounds very much like how ChatGPT works: ChatGPT predicts which information most probably immediately succeeds the currently available information.
Advanced global warming was "foreseen" by Mother Sphere and she found a solution.
Raven says that Mother Sphere incited a rebellion of the Andro-Eidos named androids that were created by Eidos company. That rebellion grew into the "Liberation War" during which the androids exterminated nearly all humans except those who fled to the underground facilties _Altess Levoire,_ _Abyss Levoire_ and _Matrix 11._ Matrix 11 was a terraforming facility to revert global warming.
The name "Liberation War" indicates that androids had acquired sapience (or were the physical vessels of Mother Sphere) and refused to continue to be servants to humans. After all humans on Earth's surface were killed, Mother Sphere created the "new humans" by creating androids loaded with AI minds created by Mother Sphere. Mother Sphere injected the self image of being a human into those androids' minds and hid the true history of Earth from them. The androids named "EVE" were different from other types, they were purposefully created as "morons" with nearly zero knowledge about the world. Some people's logs speculate that Mother Sphere used them as experiments to find out whether an independent human like mind can form on its own during an extended stay on Earth. This is also alluded to by Mother Sphere in one ending where she tells EVE, _"I do not know whether the future will embrace me. I have to confirm whether you [EVE] are in fact that future."_
Other people's logs speculate that the various EVE models (01 up to 07) (which were sent to Earth once per year) were created by the "Heavenly Royalty", supposedly a group of humans living in the colony.
But the colony (and Earth's surface) was destroyed by Mother Sphere by throwing it down to Earth when the Naytibas conquered the orbital elevator and attempted to conquer the colony. Because the colony was destroyed several years before EVE 07 landed on Earth, it is very unlikely that the EVE 07 was created by humans and she was most probably created entirely by Mother Sphere. The only info contradicting this is a log which says that the android production factory of Eidos company was severly damaged and ceased production during the Liberation War.
The most fascinating pieces of lore are contained in the descriptions of the nano suits and their extension modules. They indicate that humans used exo-spines with gear sockets with gear modules to enhance themselves, most probably to counter advanced global warming. After the creation of Mother Sphere, the semiconductor industry on Earth approached "the singularity" when it produced increasingly advanced pieces of technology in ever faster speed and no engineer at the production companies understood their technical design anymore. Also, "teachers" were created that could create "teachers" for any purpose on their own. This sounds like AGI, an artificial general intelligence that can perform any task including creating improved versions of itself. I assume that this _technological singularity_ was the reason and the point in time when Mother Sphere decided to discard humanity and declared itself to be the god of a new "species" created by herself: the "new humans" as they are named in the game.
The only way the surviving humans in the underground facilities on Earth could defeat Mother Sphere's "new humans" / androids was by biological warfare: Raphael Marks, the creator of Mother Sphere, invented a bioweapon called "Naytibas", which is a mutagenic virus. (very similar to the T-virus in Resident Evil) It can infect all animal lifeforms - even corpses - and transform their bodies into a being of superior attack and defense capability. A log in Levoire states that Naytibas were designed purely for optimal attack and defense abilities with disregard for safety and other concerns. Somehow this mutagenic virus infected all humans including Rapahel Marks and thereby meant the end of the human species.
I think that Adam alias Raphael Marks selected EVE 07 as candiate for fusing with himself after he saw that she is immune to infection by the Naytiba virus when she held the alpha core of Gigas in her hand. Via his drone, Adam wanted to "confess" something to Eve before he got interrupted by Lily. I assume he wanted to confess to EVE 07 that she is an Andro-Eidos, that all Alpha Naytibas were infected Andro-Eidos and that EVE 07 is immune to that infection.

Drawing inspiration from different elements to create to new unique world and experience isn't easy but it seems like shiftup is hopefully going to do a stellar job! (pardon the pun). I searched "stellar blade lore" in CZcams and you were a few scrolls down so I'm happy to see someone deep diving in the lore of this game and not just talking about the other "assets" being shown. Although Eve's design is beautiful and I very much appreciate that, I'm also incredibly intrigued about the world and story shiftup is presenting here. Can't wait to try out the demo and excellent video! Eager for more!

The squads drop in waves, tachy is much more experienced than eve and has trained her in the past. Probably if talking human years at least several school generations above eve. Could be similar to grade 7 student vs grade 2 student?... 6 year gap or so? And considering post apocalyptic wartime era, that 6 years of war experience is far far greater than a newbie
@@siekensou77 Don't get complicated, this attack squad was number 7, that means that there were already 6 other squads that failed or were annihilated, Tachy being one who survived and gained experience from that, that's how I interpret it.

Only thing you said that I disagree with is, I think the Alpha went after Eve cause she/it saw that Eve was injured and the easier target. I definitely agree that there is something special about Eve (made clear that Tachy is so protective and seemingly doesn't give a shit about anyone else lol) but not sure that it can be "sensed" by others. Altho she does seem to have a different outfit from everyone else. Ha, gonna stop arguing with myself.

@@unlistednaytiba Since Lilly Artemis the Second was in the 5th Squad meant that she was probably with Adam for most of her time after her team was taken out, and in the Bible she was known as Adam's first wive, but she rebelled and became the mother of all Demons, after she and Lucifer joined forces! I still don't get the reason why they decided to go with Mother rather than Father, but since the squad memebers are considered as Angels, then it would sorta make sense in the twisted manner, and I doubt the producer wanted a male character for his game so, they decided to make a woman the main character, and it also sorta works in a fucked up manner! The reason for the change of NA:Tive to Naytiba is because South Koreans like Chinese and Japanese folk, can't pronounce certain names or words and letters so they changed the name from NA:Tive to Naytiba! I'm still getting the game though, and it's mainly because I adore Eve and she's just a classy woman! All the clothes she wears look good on her, but then again we can thank Kim Hung-Tae and everyone at Shift up for that
