  • The noun is the first and basic element of Parts of Speech. A noun is a word that refers to a thing (Chair), a person (Jim), an animal (dog), a place (Washington), a quality (politeness), or an action (fighting). Nouns can be simple and compound.
Nouns play important role in a sentence because they refer to places, objects and people, and the more sophisticated abstract concepts. Without nouns, you will be left with verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. The lack of nouns will eradicate any subject or object from your sentence which is as good as communication essentially nothing. Nouns address the actual person or thing in the sentence.
