My 2011 ‪@CannondaleBicycles71‬ Flash F3 is equipped with Sram X7 drivetrain. The shifters though were full of dirt inside and outside. Here's hot to service and overhaul them fully.

Useful video. I dismantled two X7 shifters a gen1 and gen2 and built a gen2 with the best components from each. Having messed around for a while I began to realise they are not as complicated as I first thought. Have a go.

My shifter would not shift down on my bike I just bought used after it suddenly stopped shifting. Thanks to your video I spent a few hours and piece by piece disassembled and reassembled my shifter. Everything works great! So much thanks!

Top video. I snapped the Y shaped indexing pawl in the RHS (10 speed) thumb handle and machined a new one. Worked perfectly.

I've done everything in this video but when I tighten 2 middle big screws my shifter doesn't bounce back but when I losen it a bit it does. But comes completely lose after 1 min. Fix for that maybe?

Thank you for this video, couldn't find one better filmed. I have a question, did you ever have a shifter that doesn't click all it's gears ( without a cable and attached ), because that's what's going on with my Sram x-5 3 speed shifter, i can only click once to upshift and once to downshit, when i disassembled it i didn't find anything that seemed damaged inside.

I have an x7 like the one in the video, and i didnt even know that it was supposed to downshift 3 clicks in one full lever push. Bought my bike used and its only ever downshifted one gear per full pull. On top of that, downshifting from 5>4>3>2 is REALLY REALLY REALLY fucking hard. So hard in fact that i broke something inside of my shifter yesterday trying to downshift.. mine also doesnt look like its missing anything. Anyways, just got mine apart and cleaned, gna put it togethere here in a few, ill lyk if i find out whats up with mine!!

XT is probably riveted like was Saint I tried to do that on. Have done it on GX 11s.

I did my SLX shifters yesterday. After a complete clean I sprayed the inside with some silicone spray grease. Not sure if that's OK but well see what it brings!
