    Boy , do I remember doing this for many years in So. Fl. back in the 60's thru the 90's! Building code at the time specified steel re-bar 6" on-center for anything 5' or deeper but I see this pool was only 12" o.c. We would run the steel up the floor radius also as an added measure of strength and protection against shell splitting. Never had one fail in all the years I built pools for the company. Wow, what memories!

      It really was...and oddly enough I have no plans to build an in-ground pool because I rent from a duplex. I simply came here to learn more about proper pool care because I recently bought (with neighbors' consent) a $100 Wal-mart brand cheapo 15 ft. x 3.5 ft. deep pool. I was intrigued, though, because I have plans to better myself and my family, and a pool is a must when I choose to own my own home. I didn't learn much about pool care, but I did learn that to own an in-ground pool it is pretty expensive to build, and from other research gathered it is somewhat expensive to take care of. I'm somewhat more educated now on what it takes to own a pool in general. I am thankful for this video, but I'm going to go play League now. Pray I don't feed as Gangplank, folks, because I feel like a salty pirate at the moment. I'm from the South and am drunk as shit. I'm actually more impressed that I could write a "paragraph?" of this level in my intoxicated state than I am impressed with this video. I'm gonna go now....=/

    It is pretty complex to build a pool though. All you see is a prism with water filled in it, but all the pipes and framework looks pretty solid.

    I think pool basin wall should always come up to top of finished grade, level with or above the deck grade, with a joint there between basin wall and deck. Otherwise deck stresses, settlement, etc, over many years can cause water at the top of the pool, to leak out of pool though cracks formed though deck movement and possibly erode under the deck, cause even more movement. With a good rock base under deck it might not matter as much , but even rock beds might settle. In other words, the basin and deck should be separate structures. Our pool now has such significant issues because deck sits on basin top.

    My observation is they did a great job placing rebar into the pool cement and then did 3 times the size of the pool with the concrete surround without a stick of wire or rebar. Tell us how that works out for cracking in 5 years with the wet environment and cooling and heating, and very little compacting of the ground around it or engineered break points. Thin, long and broad pad will probably have lots of spider cracks over the years. Fun video though.

    Looks great guys!! And sometimes the pool has a small leak which can be repaired easily by putting some marcite/plaster into a nylon stocking til its about the size of a baseball and then tie the nylon stocking closed, next set it on the spot where the leak is and in a day or two the leak will be sealed.

      Yeah I have an in-ground pool. You have to have a fence around it. If your neighbors kid drowns in your pool they can sue you. Yes its completely retarded because they shouldn't be on your property to begin with.

    Congrats on the pool but with those nice trees there you should have done something more aesthetically appealing to compliment those trees. Like a pond theme with a little creek waterfall and some nice stones around it and definitely a darker color plaster to give you an emerald water look. But It ain’t my money!

      Some neighborhoods and insurance companies require in-ground pools to have fences. Mostly to keep children and animals out.

    • @chrissyboi88b
      @chrissyboi88b Před 8 lety +18

      Some countries actually require you to fence off your pool for legal reason, I lived and build in ground pools in France and all pools have to be fenced off because if someone decides to go for a swims in your pool and drowns you will be liable and will probably end up in a French prison, my dad who lives out there refused to fence his pool off even tho the grounds are fenced as he said it will spoil the pool, and to this day he still has no fence.
