Broke my femur at 10 years old. And i would say I’m 100 percent. Played sports every single day I’m 18 now. Even was on my track team. . Everyone who’s afraid don’t. You got this
Thanks, how long before your Felt like yourself?
@@QOSQualityofSpeed I was pretty young. so I didn't really overthink things so I can't really answer that. But the healing took 6 or 7 months. From wheelchair/walker to crunches. I was already active again. It's like it never happened, but the holes/scars from the metal cast are still their lol
@@lucatejean2899 yes I just broke mine. The crazy thing is I wasn't doing any extreme sport. I do like the wind Surf and this year I took up snowboarding. I like to climb mountains but in the case when I broke my femur I was just simply walking on a sidewalk and tripped on a plastic pipe sticking out of the sidewalk. I was walking quickly and came down on that knee and snap. So you're saying in 6 to 7 months you were completely off crutches and felt like yourself? And now you don't have any feelings like there's anything different? I really appreciate your response because it's very hard to find any real information on how I will be later. And thank you for your video
@@QOSQualityofSpeed yeah. I fractured the lower part of the femur. Yeah man. The most painful part to me was physical therapy learning how to use the leg again, putting pressure on it etc. Fractured it on a Monday playing football , was out of the hospital on Friday. Cause immigrant parents at the time didn’t have insurance. 😂 In the USA who is supposed to be the greatest country on earth. 😂 had a metal cast on the whole femur with metal rods on the whole femur. Couldn’t put pressure at all on it. Was in a wheelchair and crunches. Those few months learning to use the leg again and applying pressure on it was hell.😂 Than the leg got stronger now I’m on crunches more therapy. It was while walking to church , with my mother , I walked maybe 4 steps without the crutches. Not normal walking but limping like a penguin lol. Felt amazing . Few more weeks than back to surgery to removed the metal cast. Few more physical therapy I was walking again. 7 months later I went to summer camp. Wasn’t like 100 percent like the old me, but I was running and walking. My tip is to stay active if you feel like it’s possible, don’t rush it though. 8 months later I was playing ball , running and jumping around like the old me again. I’m still Top fastest in my neighborhood. I think I have some videos of me here . Friends I met from high school whom I play ball with everyday, or the people I play pickup ball with everyday don’t know I broke my femur till this day. Just middle school friends who was there 😂.keep your head man, stay active. Once you star to recover, give the bone a reason to strengthen up back to 98 percent or even 99 percent.
@@lucatejean2899 thank you very much for everything you've told me. It really helps me understand what I'm going to be facing in the future. For now I think I'm going to start exercising using this walker. I mean I'm running around my house on the Walker and using it like an exercise machine. I'm counting my steps on the thing so maybe that's good. Yes I will try to be as active as I can and maybe I can windsurf again and climb mountains and Driver sports cars. Hoping I can even go dance again here in the clubs in Russia and Europe. If you're interested I'll write you later for update. Thanks again
Yo I just broke my femur about 2 weeks and I know how u feel it’s so hard and depressing but today of being sad about my leg I got up and walk around the house 4 times and that’s a new record for me. Every day even though it’s hard I feel a little bit better.
Me too I broke my femur right 🦵 it's already 4week now and I'm really depressed and sad 😢 just can't wait till I walk again
@@aibanroy how you feeling brother
I want to say I broke my femur about two months ago, actually to the day, and as a 19 year old skateboarder its been tough. Your videos have been really inspriing and encouraging just knowing other people have been through similar experiences, and in all honestly much worse and more complicated scenarios. Just thankful to be where I am now and feeling blessed, thanks for your help.
You will do well soon
i’m 14 and broke mine in a car accident at the end of september and just last month or maybe 2 months ago i started being able to skate and slightly run again
Sorry i missed this comment a while ago! How is it feeling now?
@@kyliec4042 how are you doing now ? Did u go back to a regular lifestyle
Thank you for posting this video, the pain from post operation on my femur bone hurts so bad and I feel as if I will never be able to be the same again mobility wise and your video comforted me and it gave me patients… thank you sm
Super authentic raw content. Love it, thank you for sharing your real life struggles.
Lee Pfalmer thanks Lee that’s the goal! Appreciate the support.
Y’all’s authenticity is beautiful. Covering y’all in prayer!
Jennie Remington we absolutely appreciate it!
very very cool, I recently went through the same injury. It is humbling.yes, and now that I can walk, well it is not like my other leg, but... it works.
Yeah man, humbling for sure! Definitely a bit of a long a road and a painful injury. We just gotta keep focusing on the steady progress.
Apparently to break your femur slowly, not in a car crash or something, it is the most painful feeling possible. Imagine applying enough pressure to break the femur, which is a few inches thick, over the course of maybe 20 seconds. Immeasurable pain.
Irony was that you came off as not being in any pain... I love that you became the parent in an instant.. My Twin had a similar situation with his teen daughter during his recovery. Totally connected there..
Alba Adventures haha I thought some parents would relate to that!
Be patient David. Even bad situations are offering new opportunities. You will come back much stronger! Just take it as it is right now.
We are all so much more than just what we physically give. While I feel like that truly it is a special thing to psychically provide what we can, there are so many other aspects. The best example I have of this is Christ. There is no physical Jesus to soothe us, but yet we can be emotionally and spiritually filled. You fill your family with the parenting you do, with the examples you set, with the teachings you give, and most of all, with your love for Jesus with the honesty and authenticity. So sorry you are suffering through this friend, but never forget the sum. You are so much and may you continually be blessed.
Laura Culp you’re so right, but it’s an easy trap to fall into as an athlete! That’s one of the biggest blessings of this experience remembering that I am more than what I can physically do.
Broke my femur and pelvis in 2 places last month from a drunk driver. It's depressing knowing it's gonna be a year till I can fully walk again. These videos help alot
I totally agree. I was hit by a drunk driver also last month with a broken femur, collapsed lung and 4-9 of my ribs fracture. And my knee dislocated in the mix. And at times this entire process it gets me down. But things will get better! And we will be back to normal soon
dont be a girl. i broke my pelvis and was walking in 4 months without a walker. you got this
@@isaiahmorales3847 I apologize that’s happened to you but im happy to hear your doing fine ☺️.
Hey David,
How long did it take for the pain to go away?
I’m 3 weeks in and I still can’t sleep longer for 3 hours.
When did you stop pain medication?
Broke femoral neck left leg at age 75. Was still recovering from a bad left total knee replacement that had taken 14 months to improve. I’m not sure why, if it’s the surgeon or the fact I was in good shape, but I began walking after 5 weeks post op. Three big screws, in hospital 3 days. Was going up and down stairs with crutches from day two. I had to get better - no one helped me. Now my only concern is the damn knee pain and crunching. Back to bending 95 degrees I was at before the break. Quit crutches 6 weeks, used cane until 8 weeks. I bring a rollator with seat along if I’m walking lots, especially if there’s people around. Determined not to fall.
Great work Maryland. I can relate my mom broke her femoral neck recently and I've been sharing some of my insights with her from this injury to help get her back moving!
Fell and broke my femur quite a while ago, but after they put rod in my fractured leg is a lot shorter than the other one causing me pain and a limp because of it.
ALexandra DROPPING SOME TRUTH! 💕
Rachel Farson she can spit the truth sometimes let me tell you.
So many parents now just lets their kids run around making noise in inappropriate places. Thank you for reminding them that they are at a hospital. Hope you get better. Maybe you can even ski again this season since there will be ski areas open until August.
jak p yep discipline and situational awareness are an important part of life! That’s true I very well might get to ski this summer after all.
My femur was fractured 1 year ago but till now I'm not able to walk normally and unable to sit cross legged so please help me out sir
Please stay encouraged! I also fractured my femur bone recently and have moments of deep sadness in seeing all my new physical limitations and lack of independence, so I understand you. Doing more physical therapy can be helpful and therapeutic massage, plus drinking anti-inflammatory teas like green tea or Graviola tea can help and staying away from sugar and white/wheat flour because they can inflammation. Stay strong, God bless 🙏
I really needed this❤️
I'm so glad that my story can can help you in yours!
@@MrDavidWise so how about long was your recovery ...I’m in recovery now
@@offseazon How long does it take for a broken bone to heal?
@@offseazon that depends on your definition of "Recovery" I was back riding bikes in 8 weeks and hiking and running and training again after 3 months. Skiing again after 6. It was about 10 months again until i could ski the way I want to again. Just remember to celebrate the small victories along the way and stay as active as you can!
@@MrDavidWise I’m referring to being mobile and doing stuff on your own after surgery
I love you ❤
I broke my femur, post surgury since 37 days....how much time u walk without stick
same question, man I broke mine February 12th and im still on crutches, this gots me optimistic cuz everyone says about 3 to 4 months
@@hectorornelas5276 how much weight u walk with frectured leg?
Get better! Don't send your wife and kids away when you're having a pitty party for yourself. She knows you need the help, accept it and she needs to be around to knock some senses into you! You are a good dad and husband let this time of recovery show your kids, 'families stick together in good times and difficult times.'
Tricia Acevedo yep! She does knock some serious sense into me from time to time.
At 6:26.. It's kind of double sided to watch people jump when you are on crutches, isn't it? I went with some pro skateboarder with my crutches and watched them skate the Berrics skatepark and Thrasher skatepark that I would have loved to skate myself and Braille Skate that I didn't feel finished with and it sucked pretty bad, even if I was happy for them. Hope to see you back at ski ripping soon!
It is brutal watching other people do what you love to do, especially when you absolutely can't. Social media was torture for me right after the injury because everyone was posting their epic May powder skiing clips. At the same time I think it is good to be hungry, it gives us something to shoot for and chase.
@jondwinell sorry to hear that! keep your head up it all improves with time!
Dude I can feel with you! I broke my femur while scooting last year. Took me 3 months to walk again and over two weeks in hospital
@Angel Washington fear not friend I broke mine last year bone almost penetrated skin from a dirt bike accident. I was out of hospital naively after 2 nights because ya can’t smoke weed in there but I was back riding again after 3 months. Get an exercise bike and ride it
Can y’all run again? Does it feel normal again or will never be the same? Broke mines 2 weeks ago motorcycle accident
You are not zero value - your wife is your rock..
Get better soon💪
sigilens CBS thank you!
Wow what a great wife
I just broke my femur march 8 just came home from hospital last sat I'm still using my Walker
Wow that is a long time in the hospital! so sorry to hear that. Keep chipping away at that recovery!
@@MrDavidWise well it was a rehab in a nursing home I called it a hospital lol I was in hospital 4 days than they sent me there I got therapy it took me a week before i could even get out of bed i now use a Walker and wheelchair how long did it take for yours to fully heal and walk normal
@@angelicashadowrain7989 I was 10 when I broke my femur, hospital didn’t let us stay for more than 5 days because I had just moved to the United States. Around the 4 months mark you should be able to waddle like a penguin or at least put full pressure on your leg. 6-7 months I was already walking and being active again.
@@lucatejean2899 I definitely walk like a penguin lol
@@lucatejean2899 I use a Walker to walk I cant stand very long or walk my leg gets tired my knee tries to give out I broke it above my knee
Now your femur is okay?
