    In this video we shall be diagnosing and fixing a 2018 Ford Transit 2.0 ecoblue. The vehicle has an AdBlue Malfunction message on the dash. The vehicle had previously had the NoX sensor replaced and all the codes erased. Erasing codes is not a good thing to do on any diagnosis let alone AdBlue faults. After carrying out a road test, the code P20EE adblue efficiency below threshold was stored, allowing me to carry out further testing
    *PLEASE NOTE: This is not an official repair, it is a method that I have had much success with when faced with P20EE or AdBlue malfunction message and no codes*

    Had a hard time before chasing P20EE which i eventually caught just by changing the DPF/SCR. But it made it so hard to chase since i believed there wasnt a PID which showed the efficiency. With help of engineering it was possible to calculate it, but now i see it shows up in OBD mode 6. If i knew this before it would helped a lot. Thanks for showing this

    Nice one Steve, I have to admit adblue/scr is the one area I struggle on not a lot of good info out there.
    Interestingly I just did a efficiency fault last week on a mb passed all the tests & the factory guided test last step was a dpf regen even though the fill content was only 12%, so there’s definitely something in what you say about burning the high ammonia content of the scr. 👍🏻

    Before you do anything, try revving your motor hard, pedal to the metal for 5 seconds, repeat a few times...you may need to do it over a couple of days. It worked for me.

    I think the troubleshooting of P20EE is complicated.
    Basically, P20EE detects the deterioration of SCR catalyst based on worse NOx efficiency. But some other factors will also affect the efficiency. For example,
    - Filling incorrect AdBlue
    - NOx sensor fail (e.g. sensed NOx value is higher than actual NOx concentration at downstream catalyst)
    - AdBlue injector fail (e.g. actual injection quantity is smaller than the desired quantity)
    etc.
    In case of NOx sensor or AdBlue injector fail, the sensor or injector related fault code is also probably detected.

    Information for anyone else having same problem. I had code P20EE with adblue service warning, 500miles etc.
    I bought some cheap dpf cleaner. Poured into fuel tank and drove for couple of hours on the motorway at around 2000 revs. That cleared it.

    We have this error code on our 2L EcoBlue and it's been in the garage here in Mexico for 2 months now (we're driving our European van from Alaska to Argentina). They replaced the NOX sensor, which they determined was faulty. 4 months ago the DPF/SCR was replaced because it was clogged up. After replacing the NOX sensor, the fault is still there. They've done the 45ml test (it's an official Ford dealer, so they have FDRS), checked all the temp sensors. The mechanics don't know what to do anymore.
    I will ask them to do a DPF regen and an extensive road test, hopefully that will fix it. Any other ideas/tests they could do?

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  Před rokem

      if they have fdrs then they should be able to see any inhibitors stopping the fficiency calculations. Could be an underlying issue

    • @NaickKim
      @NaickKim Před rokem

      @@SYDiagnostics Thanks for the reply. The local mechanics in Mexico don't have much experience with Adblue systems, so that's going to be a tall order I think. I'll go talk to them tomorrow again and see what they're up to.

      @@NaickKimhello, did you resolve the issue?

    • @NaickKim
      @NaickKim Před 10 měsíci

      @@alxevg Yes we did, we ended up going for along drive ourselves and reset the NOX parameters. The efficiency went up from -17% to -3%. Then we kept driving until an automatic regen happened and after that the it was around +16%, which was within the required range of 15-50%.
      We had the issue come back twice when we were driving under specific circumstances (very low speeds and a lot of starting/stopping), but it went away again on its own after 50-100km. So far so good I think.

    I'm having smae issue after a turbo threw all oil in to dpf scr cat. Been out a month now its back with scr efficiency. Had nox sensor. No faults in PCM. Adblue light light will not go out!! Nox too high state no is always present but light won't go out. My guess is all oil has bricked dpf and or scr cat. I'm struggling. Boss has parts cannoned dpf on and have yet to road test it. How do you do test with forscan also which pids do I need to see to monitor. Thanks for any help! Forscan won't let me reset nox values . I may try the autel as all parameters available on forscan have been reset

    • @SYDiagnostics

    Hi, Got a 2016 Ford Transit 2.2 USR6 engine with the following fault codes:-
    P20EE - SCR. NOx oxide level. Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank1)
    P229F - NOx Nitrogen Oxides sensor. Bank 1. Sensor 2. Sensor system fault. Values out of range
    I done the OBD 6 on the Forscan like you and it shows:-
    - NOx Catalyst Conversion Efficiency - Value 27.72% [RED].......... Min = 33.00% | Max 50%
    Any idea what might be wrong? I was thinking of replacing the rear Nox Sensor but it is on back order with no back order date given. Ford part number 2285488
    These adblue systems are a pain in the a$$. I'm interested to know your thoughts on the two fault codes

      @@andreibara2257 Hi, yes we replaced the rear nox sensor Ford part number 2285488 and it seems to have cured it for now.
      That's not to say that it will fix your fault though. What fault codes does yours have and do you have access to the Forscan? If you have the same two faults as I had then it probably would be worth replacing the rear nox sensor but we first checked the fuses in the engine compartment which were all ok. After we replaced the rear nox sensor we cleared the fault codes and it has been fine - fingers crossed.
      Does yours state Bank1 sensor 1 or sensor 2 because there are two NOX sensors

      Basically I'mshowing that despite the manufacturers procedures stating to carry out a specific road test to re-set the eficiency, often (in the case of these vehicles) I find that a regeneration of the dpf will help the efficiency calculations on its road test. The extreme heat generated burns off the ammonia deposits that limit the scr/dpf efficiency
