  • This video shows my method of soloing the Tormented Demons, after completing the While Guthix Sleeps quest.
    *IMPORTANT*
When you switch the video to HD, make SURE you restart the video (drag the timeline back to 0:00) otherwise, the video will lag, and will not be enjoyable to watch )=!
    Warning
This area is a multi-combat zone! I also highly suggest killing them in Spot #2 (shown in the video), as you will have far less interruptions.
    Latest Inventories:
    Whip/DFS: tinyurl.com/ye2...
    Godsword: tinyurl.com/l7luvl
    **Level Recommendations**
    80+ Attack/Defense
    75+ Range/Strength/Hitpoints
    60+ Prayer
    -Best Results
    90+ Attack/Range/Defense/Hitpoints
    85+ Strength
    75+ Prayer
    89+ Summoning
Feel free to try with lesser stats, just be forewarned, you will want to modify the inventories shown above to meet your levels (more food/less pots/use war tortoise, etc).
    **Dealing with Interruptions**
For the sake of simplicity and space, I will only be showing one of the most common interruptions that occurs while using spot2 -- if you need more info re: lures, please contact me via YT or Skype.
    1: tinyurl.com/y8h...
Commonly occurs when the demon at spot2 spawns.
    2. tinyurl.com/ybv...
Lure the new demon north, forcing him into the crevice
    3. tinyurl.com/ybn...
Return and finish killing the original demon
    4. tinyurl.com/ycc...
Release the demon from the crevice
(only do this if there are no demons in sight towards the east if there are, simply lure them instead)
    5. tinyurl.com/y8l...
Wait for the demon to come close, and move back towards the safe spot.
    6. tinyurl.com/yzt...
The final step, forcing the demon to move close
You only want to have two demons at a time, one of which, is always stuck in the crevice. If you happen to lure an additional demon, he will shoot at you each time you step out to whip/Darklight the original demon.
You can lure this demon away; however, since the crevice spot is already filled, I find it to be far too troublesome and time consuming to be worth it.
The demon you're killing will always quickly switch over to melee, due to the recent prayer detection update, so I find its much more effective to simply pray magic/range against the interrupting demon, and tank the melee with Piety.
The lures are the most complex piece of Tormented Demon slaying; however, they are not too difficult to learn if you keep a sharp eye on their patterns.
    **Tips n Tricks**
    1. Make sure your auto retaliate is turned off
    2. Use the F1/F3 keys for switching to inventory/prayer menu
    3. Turn on ambient sounds (area sound effects)
    4. They change prayers when hit for above 30points of damage, or if you deal NEAR 30 points of damage and hit again (for example, 28/0).
    5. Use all rocks/pillars to lure the demons (if they cant see you, they will walk towards you)
    6. They will almost always start with their magic attack/protect melee prayer, unless they have previously seen you
    **F.A.Q**
Q: Are there only two spots to kill these guys?
A: Absolutely not! There is also a "spot3" found at the north east end of the cave
    Q: Godsword or Whip?
A: Personal preference, Ive used both, and really enjoyed the DFS/whip combination (a SGS, for example, would be an excellent pick).
Q: Do you recommend Broad bolts?
A: No, Broad bolts will decrease your overall KPT (I've used both).
Q: How many kills do you get an hour?
    A: 26-28

    Hello Matrix,
FRAPS - it is my favorite recorder out of all the ones I have used.
It is a "pay for product"; however, you can download a demo from their website, which will merely place a small transparent water logo near the top portion of the screen.
In regards to the render settings, I suggest watching the video released on Dec 8th by "IceflowStudios" -- should be the same settings as mine.
Let me know if you have any other questions, and be sure to check out the video description.

    Hello Alio,
The trips will become easier and easier as you learn their attack patterns, lures, and most importantly, how to avoid interruptions.
Due to you having slightly lower attack/defense levels, I might suggest you bring a War Tortoise for your first few runs, until you start "picking up the pattern"
Remember to check out the video description for more info, especially for the updated inventory and information re: the lures. ~Pie

    Hey there Moeh (=,
I've made one or two trips since the "behavior update", and found that "spot two" is still fully operational (the lure has changed ever-so-slightly).
At this point, the "adaption level" is minor, so I'm not rushing to update the video description just yet, as I plan to run a few more test first.
Thank you though for keeping an eye out for new techniques =D - one never can know enough, in any area for that matter. ~Pie

    Hello Rillim,
Sorry for the late reply -- been pretty busy ^^.
A good suggestion in theory; however, I'm sorry to say it would not work )=.
This is because the demons will switch their attack styles if they detect you're praying -- this is the reason I do not protect melee (or won't protect very long), and simply "tank it".

Yea, what Anglo said (thanks Anglo =P) -- the inventories are more or less trying to show a guideline of what one might take; and thus may need to be adjusted depending on your levels.

    Hello Jay,
The answer is yes; although I would not recommend it.
Their shield greatly lessens the damage you deal to them, and they switch prayers *much* quicker while their shield is active.
I use Piety while removing the shield, or 15% attack (depending if they're hitting me); however, you can protect melee for 3-4 hits if you'd like (if you protect anymore than that, you risk having them change to Range/Magic).

Most of the time, I found people "usually" tend to pick them up between 200-400 kills (although I have seen people go much higher/lower)

    Hello PSP,
Skillcapes are a better pick in this situation, simply due to the defense/prayer bonus.
Also, your arrows will not return to you at spot #1 or #2 due to the safe spot/rocks -- so besides a +4 range bonus, it's not worth it.

I used a program called "Fraps" -- it has amazing quality, although you will not want to use it as your "general purpose" recorder (unless you have a larger HD), due to the fact the clip size is quite large.
I would recommend using it for your videos, and picking up something like CamStudio for general use (much better than HyperCam2).
Change of topic: but be sure to check out the video description if you're interested in killing the TD's (= -- quite a bit of info there.

    Hello PKN,
Well, if you can devote a certain amount of time per day doing the quest, you can get through them all relatively quickly.
I only really play an hour a day on the weekdays, and I still manage to squeeze in a few trips here and there (the inventory shown in the description is built for an hour/fast kills).
Cash wise, these guys are great, and have really paid off for me -- combine that with a little merchanting (note: I did not say manipulation clans =P), and you can make a buncha.

Hello R34LF1 (feel like I'm talking to a robot),
Well, it goes without saying that things such as overload pots, high level prayers, etc drastically help.
But yes, the beauty of the Tormented Demons is they really can be killed even by "lower levels"
For example, I do not recommend using the Dhally for anything other than the special attack; however, you could only use range/hally to avoid their melee attack and "do fine".

Thank you (and the others below) for the kind comments, and a big congratz to both you and Omen on the claws =D!
With the recent "behavior changes", there is some information that needs tweaking in the video description; however, it's more or less still correct and might be worth a look-see if you're planning to return often (=.

    Hello Sooper,
The drop rate really varies from pair to pair =|.
For example, pair #3 and #4 came within three trips of each other; however, I believe I harvested over 1700+ blue charms before pair #2 came along =X.
I found people "usually" tend to pick them up between 200-400 kills (side note: I've received about an equal amount of pieces/claws)

The demons were updated, which effected the lures/how one deals with certain interruptions; however, spot two is still fully operational, and is my personal favorite.
I recommend checking out the "dealing with Interruptions" portion of the video description, as that might resolve your issue.

I had the fruitbat listed in the video description; however, after watching my brother use the Bunyip for dozens of runs without a hitch, I ended up removing it.
My reasoning was for the sake of maximum kills/hour, as one does not want to waste time walking around picking up/storing food.
If the bat works for you, that's great (= - and I would recommend it to anyone that is prone to taking damage.
I'll get around to re-adding it to the video description, and giving you/original guy credit.

    Hello David,
As Lagolas stated, the Unicorn is great for the Tormented Demons because of the Unicorn's healing ability -- the special can be used three times (before it needs to recharge), and heals 15% of your HP.

By "it" I assume you mean waiting until they switch to melee/safe spot'ing 'em?
If so, then yes, it still works -- although if you have a unicorn, I would recommend whip/DFS (or GS) vs. just using an hally.
Of course, here 'n there they will start attacking with range/magic again -- but for the most part, it's fairly simple once they switch to melee.

If it makes you feel better, I've hit quite a number of "dry sprees" too =X.
However, my brother and I got two pairs of claws within an hour last weekend =o - both on the same trip!!
In the end, you just need to keep going (= -- If anything, just try to schedule in a run or two a week (so they won't get tedious/boring) and enjoy the charms until the claws come along (=.
Also, keep tweaking your inventory! I am now pulling 26-28 kills/hour verses my previous 20 -- big difference =o

    Hello Jerkward,
Actually, with a heavier food based inventory/defensive based gear, you would still be able to kill a decent amount each trip.
If you're looking for something new, I would highly recommend giving the Tormented Demons a "looksee" -- once you know the lures, they're very easy, and I dare say, very profitable (=.

I actually do not even bring the halberd now; although it is an excellent weapon for beginners, and for the special attack.

Provided you know the lures/patterns well, you would actually be able to kill quite a few a trip.
There's really no harm in trying to be honest; however, do realize your stats are lower than what I would recommend.
Your summoning is also rather low, so you will need to modify the inventories shown in the video (or in the description) to more of a "food based" inventory.

    Hello Mana (=,
Switching to the Fruitbat after your tortoise is out of food is a very creative idea; however, since it only takes about two minutes to reach the demons, I'd suggest you simply teleport back and restock for another run.
I do not have experience using the bat there, and I do know some recommend it; however, I believe one will spend too much time juggling/picking up food, which will lower there hourly kill rate.
While you learn, use a tortoise/heavy pray/fast kill inventory ~ Pie.

    @PieOnPot  Před 14 lety

    @Drago462,
The red/blue cape you receive after fighting Nomad certainly does help. Beyond that, try to just take more prayer pots :P!
Your secondary focus should be trying to achieve the highest hourly kill rate possible, using heavy prayer/pots (overloads help this muchly).

    Hello MultiPie,
Well, that depends what you define as "easy" -- personally, I find killing tormented demons to "be a breeze", so in that sense they're "easy".
However, the drop ratio (like anything else) is random; thus, one can not really say it's "easy".
Also, I'm not sure if I understand your question "how was it to make that lamp" -- which lamp would that be o.O?

In re: to sounds -- piety/their AOE attack is your best friend.
They will almost NEVER continue their previous attack style after using their AOE -- so if he was using magic and then uses the AOE, he will switch to either Range or Melee.
    Knowing this, you could:
    1. Protect Magic/turn on Piety
    2. Switch to Protect Range
If you use #1, you're avoiding the AOE and hoping he switches to melee; however, if he goes to range, you have Piety defense to help protect.
Out of room -- will PM the rest

    Hello Xtred,
Much of it depends on your gear/skill, rather than your levels -- the biggest thing is knowing how to fight each demon 1v1, knowing the attack patterns, etc.
Level recommendations can be found in the video description, so I suggest checking that out (as well as information re: the lures/common problems)
Summoning plays a critical role here, as one can simply not be as efficient without the proper pets; however, sharks CAN be used as a substitute -- you just won't last as long.
