Here's some advice: use the built in hi-hats, kicks, or snares (whichever one you feel like) to save yourself a track or two. You can still keep the more prominent drum as a vinyl sample, but use the less obvious ones as internal percussion
I love the KO I use the circuit rhythm as my main sample but still love using the KO there's something about how the drums swing
Can we get some more PO-33 videos? I just got one and this is inspiring for sure!
ay you finally got one! i love my po33, it's a great companion piece for my sp404 to help out with pitch-shifting and easier chopping, plus that 8-bit crunch is just delicious
I hear you, hard to not fall in love with it.. the workflow is a bit different, but in time I’ll probably get the hang of it 🔥👊🏻
Combine the PO with a stereo imager, some reverb, and some distortion, and you've got a rich club-ready crunchy sound
I heard that “ah yea” on Pumpkin Head’s Orange moon over Brooklyn!
That AH YEAH is a sample of DMC'S voice from The Legendary Hip Hop group RUN DMC...
Such a great vibe to this video. And what you deem to be poor audio quality is better than 80% of the beat making videos on YT. Love the vibes on the chops.
Thanks a lot my friend! 🙏🏻👊🏻😋 It’s not that hard to record direct audio, sure an extra step in process of syncing in post.. unless you record the output directly to the camera. I prefer recording the audio separately if something messes up so I have at least some audio even if it’s crappy.. like in this case 😢
Nice! Okay I’m gonna go learn more. I know I’m late to the party on these but I’ll fix it now.
Thanks! It’s fun to use, but the limitations can be a bit frustrating, specially when working with samples.
Hey man, Nice video/beat! Good to see you're getting into the Micro-Samplers too! After using the OP-Z for a while I just went back to using the PO-33 and it's so great in its own right. You can't get a more immediate sampler than this. TO ANYBODY ON THE FENCE: BUY IT!!!
Thank you my friend 🙏🏻 After like 18 years using only the computer I think I developed cravings for wanna try new stuff. The workflow is a bit different from what I’m used to, but it’s definitely worth looking into. 🔥💪🏻
SON WU I had the 2000xl for short a period of time, but it was in very bad condition, so I sold it. Been “tracking” beats pretty much all my life (Fasttracker & Madtracker).. but im glad I picked up the MK3.
@@BoombapArt I can understand, best of both worlds! It's important to find a device you're comfortable with...and then sit down and make a lot of beats :)
SON WU Totally agree. It’s not the gear that makes you a great musician, it’s just tools that can make it easier to get the ideas down, but with every limitation you find workarounds.
Great video love the mini devices subbed
BoombapArt you are welcome bro how much can you pitch samples on this -+5 ?
Nice to see you using the po33. Its a dope sampler. I already released 2 EP's made strictly using the po33 and currently finishing up a 3rd. Looking forward to see what you cook with it.
Explicit Mass Productions Wow, respect ✊🏻 Yeah, it’s a dope sampler fo sure.. I just need to get familiar with the workflow! I will definitely make more with it! 🔥💪🏻
Dope video!
Ave Mcree Thanks, even tho I’m not that happy with it.. next time I’ll add another angle! 💪🏻
Can’t wait for your next po33ko sample video the production audio wise and video wise was great like the little touches like mini mpc lol but dope beat how much can you pitch samples on this? -+5 ?
Thank you my friend! There will be more PO videos, I have a few other ones I’m planning for. That’s a good question, I’m not sure how much you can pitch.. I’ll get back about that! 👊🏻
What is that Mini MPC and where did you get it?...Im looking for something like that....
It’s a usb flash drive.. have you checked “MPC Stuff” website? I think I bought at Drum Broker many years ago
hey man, how do i paste my drum patterns so i can record more bars, and how do I turn off record enable? thanks bro :)
Ha I have the same vinyl coasters. Dope lil tutorial btw my po 33s on its way
@@BoombapArt No only the 33 is available where I live but dang I want that 133 now 🤌
@jackedkerouac4414 PO33 is a good start, and hopefully TE will fix all the issues with the 133 for the next batch.
@@BoombapArt thanks for the heads up. I
found a preorder seller but will wait
Trying to use a DJ controller for scratching and a modular synth to add more sound. Would I even need a big sampler/beatpad like an AKAI MPC ONE to make beats like this or would the PO be alright? the PO would right along a DJ Pioneer 800
Adrian Nunez The PO is great, but definitely have some limitations. I haven’t made a “full” track with it yet. You don’t have to buy the latest to get you rolling like the MPC One.. unless you’re wanna get into dawless. I have little to non experience when it comes to Akai products, but the Maschine Mikro MK3 is definitely worth looking into, and it will not set you back $800.. I think it’s $250.
Wow, I really need to get me a K.O. Nice Beat!
@@BoombapArt I just picked up a used tonic but I want a K.O. because I really want to sample vinyl😊🔊🎚🎧🎶👍
Pauline Gallegos Ah sweet! I would like to pair a couple, but I started with the essential one, the sampler 😁 I will probably add a few more later
This was so nice. How did you chopped the jazz sample? You stored a long one in melodic slot if I'm not mistaken, but I don't see how would you chop it.
The PO chopped it for me.. all you need to do is record your sample to a melodic slot then copy that one over to a drum slot instead 👊🏻
Great vid! The PO 33 KO! is actually a great SAMPLER! I'm using it as an MPC replacement to make SAMPLED BEATS and it works GREAT!!! (you can check out some examples on my channel)
next beat on this MPC 😅
Respect from Poland
🤣 I think I have some good stuff saved on that flash drive! .. I think I need a Maschine USB! 😉👊🏻 Thanks man! /Sweden
Will the PO-33 save your samples and work once it's powered off or the batteries are removed? Or is everything erased?
Ouufff. Tungt! Gillar PO33an. Har en själv. Väldigt skön sampler att jobba med. Ganska mycket jobb men skön ändå 😊
Tack kompis! Gillar den skarpt, men har inte riktigt kommit in i workflowet, men mycket rolig att jobba med 🔥💪🏻
I can’t figure out what cable I need to connect this to my audio interface? I want to be able to play with this through my speakers and not just headphones. Any help?
Thanks for the reply! So I just plug it into the headphones jack on my audio interface? It’s really that simple? 😂
An off-topic question: What chair is that, that you use in your studio?
Where did you get that minature mpc on the right i need one !!!
I think I bought it from the “Drum Broker” website back in the days, not sure if they’re available anymore. Have you checked on the “MPC Stuff” website?
Nice one bro! Did you find it easy to use?
Thanks fam! Both yes and no.. my first time using it, so it’s not that hard to create something.. the workflow is just a bit different. If I can do it so can you 🔥👊🏻
What a good speaker to play the PO-33 through?
Oh, that’s a good question. I run the PO through my mixer out to my Yamaha HS7
Sick beat! What's the name of the sample?
Thanks. It’s been a few years now, don’t remember to be honest. Might have the record laying around somewhere.
Should I get this as a starter?
It’s a fun piece of gear. This one or the street fighter version PO-133.. these are the ones I know you can sample with, maybe there’s others..
Those white cables came with the product?
@@BoombapArt dope. Thanks for the info. Might buy one to add to my music production. Lol
@@wnysnoopy It’s very different from any other gear, but that can be liberating and challenging. Go for it! 👊🏻
how do u chop chords like dat
I used a trick I leaned from Ricky Tinez! czcams.com/video/eBHcNV2nWV0/video.html
not like i'd sell it but idk why i bought an op-1 when this would've been enough
S ? I’m pretty sure you bought the OP-1 because it’s really dope for many reasons, the synth engine, sampling etc.. the PO is really nice but a bit limited. We can trade 😉☕️
@@BoombapArt i don't actually use the synth part of it either i use it for the sampling, tape and effects
S ? Wow! I can’t read.. I read totally wrong, that you didn’t use any of the features 🤣 my mad!
@@BoombapArt no problem, i could've typed it up better
anyway as wasteful as it sounds the synth part has never been my thing, i strictly stick to sampling, chopping and others by drum mode, arranging by tape, messing with the effects (lpf/hpf) and so on, like a classic 90s sp/mpc approach
i just enjoy the portability of it over those devices though
You need a cough drop. Cool calculator though!
The best calculator I’ve tried so far, why didn’t we have these in school 🤷🏼♂️
yeah, very cool video! When you sample at czcams.com/video/INjNCSQ2xKc/video.html you sampled to the melodic slots, right? but later you used the other one...
I learned this little trick from Ricky, check his video, he explains everything in detail 👊🏻 czcams.com/video/eBHcNV2nWV0/video.html
Its just so small i couldn't work with it 😂..........thats what she said
Haha! 😅 open.spotify.com/track/0tKdN8oasUfwN1itvwHHBq?si=wWffe0C4RnKVqqVG7WL6KQ
WoW why would you want to use that thing??!! It looks like the manufacture did not finish constructing the device lol
Namron Don’t let the “cheap” appearance fool you, it’s a really nice sampler in a small format! Definitely worth checking out if you’re into sampling! 🎹👊🏻
Kraaaack.. now I fkn need 1! Boom Bap fire!
Yes you do 😉 Goin to have a lot fun creating 🔥👊🏻
