Other CZcamsrs have covered this event but what I liked here was that you gave the owners chance to talk about their cars. I loved the FIAT Strada in particular but my choice would be the Renault 4 - an ordinary (?) but likeable chug.

I have to agree. Although Ian and Matt have excellent takes on cars and covered the festival well we are lucky to have Steph's unique combination of knowledge, socio-economic context and superbly calm and clear delivery.
Her context material is especially interesting and gives non-Brits an insight into what was available as car ownership expanded and she includes target demographics.

I love that it's the kind of show where a Porsche would turn up and everyone would walk straight past it to ogle a Daihatsu Applause. I sadly couldn't attend but I love the fact that it celebrates the cars that people relate to and it proves again that part of what makes a car great is the experiences it enables.

Wow Steph you already picked the winner, that beautiful Proton Black Knight.
I completely agree on your top 5 from the car park, especially the wee Skoda Estelle. Would love a Mk1 Espace. The BL jumper was a very committed garment.
However, my number one in the car park would be a tie between the Hyundai X2 and the Mk3 Ford Escort 1.6 Ghia.
My first new car was a 1992 Peugeot 106 Graduate 1.1XN carburettor in white. It had the identical interior and pop up sunroof and rear wiper. The Graduate 1.0 didn't get the rear wiper and the sunroof. However I went back to the Peugeot 205 a year later because the steering is much sharper.

I own 3 old American land yachts, a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville..a 1997 Cadillac Deville and a 1966 Mercury Monterey convertible. Wish I could have been there to see all of those beautiful cars.

I love the lack of snobbery about this car show! Here in Australia car shows tend to fall into two broad groups, the classic car shows and the performance car shows. This show is a new third catergory as it's for car lovers who often have an obscure or forgotten car make or model that falls outside the normal car club scene. I once took a Mazda 929 (Luce) I owned to a classic car concourse and it was sneered at because it was Japanese. Llater a Mazda 626 (Capella) I owned was sneered at by performance car enthusiasts because it wasn't hotted up!

Delighted that you selected a Renault Espace; I had a beautiful phase 2 in ‘metallic rust’ colour... But rust is one thing it could not do, as it was fully galvanised as well as having an outer body which was fully composite! My family of 6 to Europe for several weeks, averaging 40 mpg (2-litre petrol) and with all our luggage totally invisible from view. It held its price for about three years or more, as they were greatly sought after. I also had two other later models but they were never as good as this one. I later progressed to Ford Galaxies, also excellent.

I had a Skoda Estelle or about a year. It was basically a reskinned Renault Dauphine, but being made of thicker metal, did not crumble into a pile of rust in no time like a Dauphine. It's acceleration was very unexceptional. When I sold it, I kept the tow bar thinking I could make a few quid, but it was not to be. It turned out that they all had a tow bar fitted from new.

My late mother's only speeding ticket was as a result of a strada. The previous week she had taken delivery of a D reg fiat uno. My father had driven it that weekend and warned it was far nippier than her old Renault 5. A few days later she was driving up a road well known for police and their radar guns. She spotted a fiat in her mirror and said their is another Uno. I pointed out that it was infact a strada due to round headlights not square. She was so busy looking in rear view mirror at this she shot past the man with the radar gun doing 49mph in a 30 limit. Not sure what she disliked more. The fine or my dad saying I did warn you about your speed!

I love your choices. I owned a 1980 Skoda 120l. Here in New. It was twin headlights with chrome bumpers. It was white. I called it 'Checkers '.
    Actually the steering was terrible!.
At the time (1985)my mate had a 1969 Renault 10. It was far superior to my Skoda. Except the skoda had more interior space and was faster.
FYI. the 120l was the first production car to be narrower and taller than its immediate predecessor. It was also the first ever car to be classed as "unsafe " by 'AUTOCAR" magazine in 1979. Owing,to its unpredictable handling. I totally agree with that summation. But I loved it anyway.

Fantastic, great stories behind the cars too. The Tercel 4wd is a delight, as were the two Fiats and Renault Twingo.
I wanted to attend but sadly left it far too late to book a ticket. Maybe next year!

Have to start flippantly on the Fiat 128 ‘I’ve known the car all my life. My dad bought it new when I was 12’. Fantastic condition nonethelsss!
Love the show and will try and attend next year.
@$teph, you love the Skoda Estelle, but did not mention its predecessor in darker green which we saw.
My dad had the predecessor, in lovely orange. It certainly did have a few party tricks around steering and handling!
Best story is around getting up a steep hill in the snow, and the engine at the back being above the rear wheels.

The D plate Estelle featured in the video is mine. Recently restored as a project and put back on the road. I really was made up with the lovely comments she received. And to see her on I drive a classic was the icing on the cake !

@@andyrobertshaw9120 mine is the 120L so it has a 1.2 4 cylinder water cooled engine with a four speed box, being an earlier car. The later 120's from I believe 87 onwards had a five speed box which greatly improved things. The car is by no means quick but happily sits at 55/60 on a duel carriage way. The Estelle had an alloy engine with cast iron head. Unlike the later favorit (I have had several) that was a all alloy affair
