I just saw Marko Heitala translate the song "Voice of My Father" .He did it in english for the first time. I think it was hard to translate because of the creativity. It sounds different in English. It was good. In Finnish the song is more enchanting.

I was in Finland a few weeks ago and needed some help. I approached a local, asked him nicely if he could help me or at least tell me where I can go. Not only did he help me, he even called me the next day to follow up and give me more tips. I learned that a finn looking like he is mad can actually be the most nice warm helpful person in the world.

Additionally, I saw your videos about how difficult it is for foreigners to get jobs in Finland and I've to say that in my case, it was actually very easy. As you rightly point out in your videos, this very much depends on the sector and as I work as a Scientific Researcher, I didn't face any obstacles at all.
In case you're searching for new topics for videos, I personally would be interested in one where you talk about reasonably priced sports centres and gyms in and around Helsinki or how to find related discount offers but then again, that's just something personal so it might not resonate with the needs of your other viewers.

@Aleksi You should talk about housing too, because not everyone is willing to work for a company / will have a job right away anyway ; I saw you have many options for housing but when I asked some agency like Lumi ; they said ' you need a Finnish ID ' and I told them we are part of the EU & EEA and they cannot discriminate against nationality (especially since we are both in the EU) but in the end ... after asking my Finnish mates ; they were probably talking about some kind of henkilötunnus which seemingly has nothing to do with citizenship. A bit of misunderstanding there, some said that they probably never had such a request.

Your country needs skill workers with good licenses and credentials?, is there an entity as for journey men, where you can take the test, or if you have to continue working or studying for your journeymen license or ticket, such in Canada, or the commonwealth countries?. Finland has many similarities to Canada. Please whenever you can let me know. Again congratulations I really enjoy your videos, don't get discourage by negative comments. Greetings from 🇺🇸

Hi, while I do support Aleksi's recommendation to come visit before you move here, I would advise not to pay that much attention to that first or second impression, because it might a tricky one. I visited here mostly in the cold season and once in the summer and it was always cold. Of course I had with me clothes bought from my home country, so made for a slightly different kind of winter. I had zero problems going through my first winter in Finland because we have appropriate clothing, at a wide range of prices and everything here is adapted for people to be comfortable through the long harsh winters.
The darkness is not as dark, especially in the cities, where the authorities organize all kinds of light festivals, the cities are decorated, people decorate their windows and balconies, so it's actually quite nice to walk around the city and enjoy all the lights.
I'd actually say the almost neverending light in the summer was weirder for me. But then the vibes in the cities are totally different and the Finns truly come alive in the summer.

To be fair, you can wear a t-shirt all year round this year, seems like we're having a winter heatwave 😂 as for cost of living, I'd say cost of living in Helsinki is fine compared to other capitals because of accommodation costs, but everything else is pretty expensive by global and even European standards. As for foreigners having a harder time finding jobs, I'd say there's definitely a hierarchy within foreigners too, in that it's not much more difficult if you have a western/central European name depending on the industry, but might be harder for people with names from other areas. Outside of that, great video as always 🙂

I would expect biologist might be able to get job without Finnish language knowledge if they speak good English. But I think you can get by with almost any single regular job here. It's not like in US where you have to have multiple jobs. Also we don't have tipping culture here so even waiters get regular salary. If you can't find job as biologist then maybe check what jobs that are high in demand Aleksi said.
As Finn I think really important thing when learning Finnish is to how to pronounce letters in Finnish first. Because they are not pronounced like English and in Finnish letters are always pronounced the same. Also there are no silent letters, so once you learn letter pronunciation and see any written Finnish you will always know how everything is pronounced.
